Thanks Franko for the invitation. I would like to go back and take more time, I only had 10 days. I'd also like to improve my Spanish before going again. Having Peter (the guy in the video) with me help a ton because he could speak and understand much more than I could.
Wow....i felt as if I had really been there.(Journey to Machu Picchu, Peru )great vid...Am off to watch where else you have been....this will save me going there ! lol Good photography . Well done
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed my approach of not just trying to capture MP, but the whole process of getting there and wandering around it. Of my other videos, I'd recommend the "Real Life Swiss Family Robinson" filmed in a jungle tree house. The Elephant Ride will give you the feeling of having been there but it's long.
Our train tix only got us back to Ollantaytambo where we got a taxi for only $20 (for 2 people so only $10 each) all the way back to Cusco
I paid in soles and I didn't really keep track so my numbers are probably off. Have a great time! There may be better ways to get there, that's just the route we took.
Oh, I want to go there! I have actually been to Lima and visted some of the ruins and sites in that area but haven't made it to Cusco or Machu Picchu. Pero, algo dia, yo espero a conocer Machu Picchu. :)
Thanks for the comment! It's a pretty amazing place. There were people from all over the world there. It was listed as one of the new wonders of the world about year ago, which has caused a surge in tourism. Near the start (while on the train) you can hear a guy say "Let's hope that never happens" ... he was from the UK touring South America then headed to North America.
thnx so much for the advise, yes i wanna know Agua calientes, and u mean behind machu p.? that's huayna picchu, yes im so excited to visit it also lol and yes i heard that i have to take so early the train to be the first at machu picchu. but i heard machu picchu allow only 800 people per day but now there are more than 3 000 per day, thats so scary, and i dunno when u visited machu p. but since that was chose like a new7wonder of the world on july last year, there are lot of tourists around! mmm
Yes-hike Huayna Picchu if you can. I was there in April 2008, it didn't seem extremely busy. We took the early train from Cusco, it takes 4 hours to get to Aguas Calientes, then lunch, get tickets, take the 40 minute bus ride... by then it's after noon. I recommend getting to Aguas Calientes in the late afternoon/night, sleep in a cheap hostel then just hop on a bus early in the morning and get to the top by 7am & avoid all the people coming in the afternoon that took the early train.
Was very true what u described about Machu picchu i didnt know some thing about it lol, i havent visited Machu Picchu in person yet, but i heard there are a lot of tourists, so its difficult can see it as natural ,i was looking for videos like this, cuz im visiting Machu on November, its a good time to visit it, i hope it will be as kool as the video shows! thnx for the video!
It's even better in person! Video just can't capture what it's like to be surrounded by such scenery. If you plan your trip right, try to get into Aguas Calientes at *night* so that you can be one of the first to the top in the morning. Most tourists come in the afternoon (which was when I got there), so the morning is much quieter and you have the place more to yourself. You should also consider hiking the mountain behind Machu, they only allow a few hundred a day-it's supposed to be incredible
i'm so embarrassed to say this but the answer is No! i'm postposing my trip to Cusco all the time! i was working so i couldn't even go on december 20th. Now i got the money to travel but it's not a good time to travel to Cusco cuz it is so rainny! i just heard on the news that the roads to Cusco are a bit dangerous now, and i just wanted to go to Cusco in a Bus to watch the landscapes so i will return in a plane! but definately i'm going to Cusco This year =) haha for real!

Hi friend...
The next week i think im gonna go Machu Picchu...Please can you help saying me how much money I'll spend from lima to Machu Picchu...
Please...I wait your answer...
diegoloxa92 2 years ago
I don't remember exactly, but I'll guess:
Lima>Cusco by air: $250?
Cusco>Aguas Calientes by train one-way: $50?
Bus to top: $40? Ticket into Machu Picchu $70?
Our train tix only got us back to Ollantaytambo where we got a taxi for only $20 (for 2 people so only $10 each) all the way back to Cusco
