  • This version was issued in Europe - but it was hastily withdrawn in the US and the ending CHANGED. The reason? Vaughn Monroe was a major shareholder in RCA!

  • My childhood was delightfully warped by listening over and over to a 10-inch 78 (rpm for younger readers) which had Wild Bill Hiccup on the B side. I didn't know the original that the City Slickers were sending up, but enjoyed it none the less.

  • "This is a cowboy legend? Oy!" >:-)

  • A classic performed by Zippy and George!

  • Let me guess, the one dislike was from Vaughn Monroe...

  • @ZootInNH Vaughn Wilton Monroe (October 7, 1911 – May 21, 1973) this song has been covered many many times...KFJC played amany different versions of this song.

  • In a wierd way they are far better than that poser Cash.

  • That was fun! Thanks for sharing.

  • Who are the vocalists here? I'm guessing Winstead "Doodles" Weaver and Mickey Katz.

  • @5610winston the vocal on here are sir fredrick gas &freddy morgan

  • Bleah!!!

  • What didVaughn Monroe do to make them change it?

    Own about 1/3rd of RCA

  • This is Horrid . . .

  • @ADJ30168 If you look, the title of the album is 'Murders them All'. It's MEANT to sound horrid because it's a parody. Spike was very successful in his day.

  • Excellent to hear the original uncensored version. I wonder what Vaughn Monoroe did to make them change it! Thumbs up!

  • This is the uncut version. RCA Victor replaced the ending verse with sound effects before release.
