i dont know if anyone responded to you yet, but the whamola works much like a washtub bass does. It is electric, the pick up is down at the bottom as you see, there is only 1 string and up at the top is a crack which you can use to change the pitch of the whamola.

I want one really bad but im a terrible craftsman.

He did the same thing for me. Two kids were out dancing on stage as well. I've seen Les Claypool and the Fancy Band 3 times, and only ONCE did he play Whamola. In fact the first time I saw him, he pulled it out, played three notes, then stopped and said "Naw we're not playing any of that shit."
