Yes, I like it simple and off the shelf items. Have you tried with 6 wings? You see with three wings there is always one side in a unfavorable orientation. I like the spacing between the pieces you put on top of eachother. The air which goes inbetween increases friction and this helps to transfer momentum from air on the VAWT. I took ball bearings from an old bycicle wheel.

It seems that you put great effort into your design, so thumbs up. I hope you success. I have designed a 16' x 24' version you see on you tube but not yet built. The design does well in winds of 22 mph plus. Three mph is all that is needed and maybe less with the new less bulky bearings I will soon fit to the design. I have also designed a magnetic bearing varing widely with those designed for VAWTs but it will only be used for testing. I like off the shelf items. Quick and cheap.
