I remember this moment well.... As a Seahawks fan... I was like MATT ? Well hey you gotta like his confidence... BUT it's not good to be overconfident...
@Coastergeekperson04 Look up the Tramon Williams' 70 yd interception against Atlanta from last year's playoffs. Joe Buck's call sounded almost exactly the same as this one.
That really wasn't his fault, his receiver didn't run the right adjustment on the route. Hasselbeck put the ball right where it needed to be, but his receiver needed to be there to catch it, and instead Al Harris was there to catch it.
@Slotten68 Probably not. But that was Seattle's 2nd possession. Hasselbeck probably wouldn't have said "We want the ball and we're gonna score" if they didn't win the toss.
i think its funny how matt hassleback was trying to get him.....it looked like he was running as fast as he could..... as he was runnin i bet he was saying to himself.....dammit! im gonna get so much shit for sayin tht on tv!
@JeRseybOy251 then they would lose to the panthers and the panthers would lose to the my Pats in the super bowl. but the sad thing is the next year they would lose to the Pats all by themselves in the super bowl. boo-hoo. 3 rings in the bag
I remember that game...Big Seahawks fan. Obviously the result was not what you wanted, but that is the attitude you would want your quarterback to have. I am sure he believed that they were going to score. It just did not work out that way.
Poor Hasselbeck...if he had kept his mouth shut they would only criticize him for throwing the pick-6, they wouldn't say anything about him being a dumbass.
@chrisuncleahmad Yes, the winner of this NFC Wild Card Game was headed to Philly regardless of the outcome in the January 11, 2004 NFC Divisional Playoff. The other NFC Divisional Playoff was Panthers/Rams on January 10, 2004.
0:44 "We want the ball and we're gonna score". 0:48 Taunting chuckle from Cris Collinsworth. 3:01-3:09 Al Harris makes Hasslebeck eat his words. Nelson Muntz: HAW-HAW!
That was an AWFUL decision by Hasselbeck. Harris started the play on the 46 yard line of GB, and stood there til the throw - when he moved ONE yard forward and took the ball and scored.
@ChiTownWarrior1 Ya It was kinda nice that we had to go through Philly to get there. Not much revenge to many of the players cuz idk if any are even still there from the 4th & 26 game..But it was kinda nice to get some revenge on the fans. Well the Eagles are lookin good for this year I have a feeling our teams will have to go through eachother once again this year in January.
That's so cool how he gave away the winning touchdown ball to a fan. Al Harris is pure class. Talk about Packer People. He's somewhere at the top of that list.
...I wish this didn't happen...As much as I absolutely love(d) this game, the finish, the packers getting such an exciting win...I wish it didn't happen...because...then they go to philly...and..."4th and 26" happens. The Super Bowl win this past year helped, but i still remember...How devastating it was to me as a kid..."Dad! Dad! All we have to do is stop them this one play and allow fewer than 26 yards and we go to the NFC Championship Game!!!"...*sigh*...I still think about it sometimes...
As many terrible moments as he has had with the Packers, Al Harris has always gotten a pass because of this play alone. One of my fondest Packer memories in my 24 years of living.
@KenFan4life The Donatell defenses weren't bad. They weren't great, but given the talent he had to work worth, he did a great job, from 2000-2003 the Packers were only 8th in points given up in the NFL with nary a pro-bowler in the bunch. It was Sherman who was clueless. The last I checked Donatell is still working in the NFL and Sherman isn't.
I'm not on Donatell's jock, it just was an idiot move when Sherman fired him and brought in Slowick.
End then, after the 4th and 26 the next week Sherman fires Donatell. The guy with the short side of the payroll who got more from less is fired because Sherman and Rossely were idiots.
