No, like many others of a similiar make, it will not remove virus. If this is a concern, you will need to treat water chemically after use. Some choose to filter water before treating chemically so the chemicals can be more effective. I personally don't worry about virus infected waters in my area.
If you google a hiking site called 'itchy feet' and look under water purification, it states there that it does make viruses in active, which is very good. Thtanks for the good video.

@ianawilliams You might want to make sure that isn't in relation to the large Sweetwater kit, which includes a chemical as well.
