@2002And I think there is a kit of the Squirrel, probably some military version or other, I did look for one at the time.. but I can't remember what make I found or anything.. all I know is that I couldn't get one when I looked, due to it not being available online or in the shops..
@2002And There is/was a kit done of the AS350B by 'HELLER' ..I have one & have built it into a Royal Australian Navy version..as for availability I bought mine from a hobby shop in Wollongong NSW albeit back in 1992,so there is good chance it's out of production, which is odd given the popularity of the machine..try ebay
If there's one thing guaranteed to ruin an airshow vid, it is people. Especially those commentators yakking when all you needed to hear was a Merlin ;)
Yes, I agree.. :) Not sure if I will make it to Clacton Air Show this year.. If so it will only be for the Friday, as I cancelled my leave for both days last night, I need it for better things, conciderably LESS fun, but neccesary.. but as long as all is ok otherwise, I should be able to go on the Friday.. I have to take the bus though, as the trains are striking on Thurs- and Fridays now.. :( An hours journey in a crowded bus, rather than 20 minutes in a less crowded train.. :(
Great looking ship. Odd placement of the tail rotor don't ya thinnk? The ground crew were a bit hazardous. What's with those guys? I think one of them is actually going to get hurt soon. Beautiful footage here Robert.
Thank you.. I don't know what was wrong with the ground crew either.. :) They probably did it so often they just couldn't care to be careful.. still, as far as I know I have never heard of any accidents.. not on the day or at any other time.. :)
Ever see that episode of ER where Dr.Romano waves his hand and the chopper bites it off? In a later episode an ENTIRE HELICOPTER FALLS on his head, with predictable results ;)
Yes -once is realistic, twice is just carelesness. I think it really signaled the end for ER. He was an excellent character in previous series, reduced to mere stereotype.
I gave up watching ER ages ago.. it was a brilliant very watchable 'show', but sadly they decided to squeeaze every drop of blood out of it, rather than end it on a high.. Fawlty Towers on the other hand is a prime example of how things SHOULD be done.. only 12 episodes ever made, but every single one a classic.. :)
Do those 2 guys realise how many rules that broke! =O
Always bend down when approaching a chopper as the blades bend, especially when at low revs if your standing up they can easily bend down and hit you = decapitation.
Also, the older bloke held his hand up! Bye bye arm.
I qoute the brochure: "Our fully trained ground staff will be pleased to assist you with any advice or assistance you may require." I guess they couldn't be bothered, that helicopter made approximately 6 flights / hour so they just wanted the people in and out quickly.. :) But yes, you'e right.. :)
It wasn't as good this year as normally, but still worth going. I probably missed a lot as there's things going on in different places all the time.. :0)
I got some footage and photos of the 'Challenger II' that was on the other side of the fence.. won't use it on YouTube until I build the model though.. Unfortunately the tank was a) static, and b) had great signs in front of it, obscuring some of the tank itself.. but I still got some good photos..:)
The people who went to the helicopter while the engines were still running did not appear to wear any hearing protection - though they did have the appropriate dayglow vests. That's a big no-no here.
No, I noticed that.. and it was very loud too! A bit odd for being in over-safety concious England.. :) Mind you, the hearing and ear-protection tends to be of lower priority over here, at least compared to what I was used to as a health & safety ombudsman at my workplace in Sweden.. :P
The 'Pardon' bit was supposed to refer to the fact that I could not 'hear' your comment.. :)
Awful departure!!! What profile was that? 'Lets just rip it up and see how we get on'? Other than than, it does look nice and shiny :)

Nice! Brilliant video :) I wonder if Airfix, Revell or any other plastic model manufacturer have done a kit of it!

Yes, well hopefully it won't be for that long. I'm no great fan of buses, in fact I haven't used one regularly since secondary school :/

You think they could have varied the theme a bit.. like dropping a WWII Sherman on him or something.. :)
