@penguinzrule12 we still have the same regiments, units and ranks, our regular army evolved from the British Army whereas our Reserves came from the Militia. notable examples would be the Black Watch Regiment, and of course The Canadian Grenadier Guards who wear the same uniform and have the same duties, such as guarding the Queen (or viceroy).

I hope that someday, the opinion of some British and American will change in regards of the french. I am proud of my country and its History even if we made some stupid decisions. We maybe do not have a such big army than the US but much powerfull, we do not have the right to say, yes we stay free against Hitler. But still, it does not grant you the right to insult our land and people.
I have a grat opinion of UK, Germany, and USA so don't ruin it by saying stupid sings. Sorry for the language

Well, don´t forget that in the 17th and 18th century 1/3 of the British army were german nationals! Not to mention their royal family. Wellingtons "British" army in Waterloo were 1/3 Hessians, Brunswicks and from Hanover! And what, he got rescued by 50000 Prussians :-)

15,000 to be precise. And it's not the battle that mattered, it's that Napoleon's government abdicated him. At this point in time Napoleon had 300,000 men to attack us. His government disbanded them.

@penguinzrule12 we still have the same regiments, units and ranks, our regular army evolved from the British Army whereas our Reserves came from the Militia. notable examples would be the Black Watch Regiment, and of course The Canadian Grenadier Guards who wear the same uniform and have the same duties, such as guarding the Queen (or viceroy).

I would however distinguish the civil population of Britain for the most part from the actions of british military occupying forces.
