When i see this, i am very happy, that certain groups in my country couldnt drown all of our history like they wanted to do. Some parts survived and we embrace them like the Zapfenstreich or many other old Traditions.

I must say though, there is something awe inspiring about the old marsch films. while these guys are clearly very well drilled, they do not seem to have the same energy that their wehrmacht counterparts had. still it is nice to see that this tradition has not been totally eliminated.

Trotzdem ist die Bundeswehr nicht wirklich ein traditioneller Nachfolger einer deutschen Armee. Die Paraden der BW sind einfach nur lächerlich und peinlich zu gleich rein garnichts mit deutscher Militärtradition zutun. Schaut mal nach CHile das ist deutsche Militärtradition. Ich will BW Soldaten nicht nahe treten die können ja auch nix dafür, aber die BW ist eifnach nur peinlich und garantiert keine traditionelle deutsche Armee sondern Ami-Hilfskorp mit deren Bräuche.

A nation that held back the might of the Roman Empire, that grew from a small nation surrounded by more powerful nations and states to be a player on the world stage should be proud of its military history and should let it shine. I am proud of my German heritage and Germany should be too!
The Prussian military tradition and the professionalism that should continue today in the German military is nothing to be ashamed of or hide. It should not be confused with the sad period in German history under the National Socialists. Germany and her history of military professionalism has been emulated around the globe because it excelled in martial training and elevated it to a point that other nations, whether secretly or opernly, admired and desired it for their own armed forces.

@MultiJkap Die Bundeswehr Repräsentationshelme des Wachregiments und des Musikkorps sind auch aus Plaste. Die werden in diesem Video von allen Soldaten getragen was man am Kinnriemen sieht. Zweitens glänzen Gefechtshelme nicht und sind auch nicht blaugrau sondern olivgrün. Das nur zum Thema "elite"-soldaten.... Der Uniformschnitt der Luftwaffenuniform ist dem der Wehrmachtsluftwaffe stark Nachempfunden.Dazu gehört eben ein blauer Mantel.
@TheThemoviesman kleine verbesserung aber unser gefechtshelm ist inzwischen grau und nicht grün(weiß garnicht ob der überhaupt mal grün war) dafür gibt es ja den tranfleck überzug für verschiedene gebiete^^

I don't understand why most people assume that ALL of the Germany's army traditions came from the Nazis. It has NOTHING to do with the Nazis - even the "Hail Hitler salute" wasn't Nazi at all it was the Roman salute. Alot of their marches are Prussian. My favourite has to be the "Prussian Gloria" I love the tune!

I too believe its nice to see Germany regaining some of its former Prussian traditions,such as the torchlight parades. Those helmets,unfortunately,got to go. The M-42 was and is,a much better looking helmet,in addition to being very sturdy.
bundeswehr is a pseudo-german / pseudo-prussian army. bw was build by western-allies to be canonfodder in cold war and canonfodder for the new world order.

@soutache thats true but is false to say that the modern german army is dont embracing any references to the 33-45 period. The camuflage pattern is very similar to the Waffen SS, they still use the MG-42, the air forces are called Luftwaffe (a 33-45 name), the Panzergrenadier nomenclature was decided by Hitler himself and its still in use, the tanks and vehicles are using animal names like in WW2. In my opinion the german army in strictly unpolitical form has to be proud also of ww2 soldiers.

I must say though, there is something awe inspiring about the old marsch films. while these guys are clearly very well drilled, they do not seem to have the same energy that their wehrmacht counterparts had. still it is nice to see that this tradition has not been totally eliminated.

Trotzdem ist die Bundeswehr nicht wirklich ein traditioneller Nachfolger einer deutschen Armee. Die Paraden der BW sind einfach nur lächerlich und peinlich zu gleich rein garnichts mit deutscher Militärtradition zutun. Schaut mal nach CHile das ist deutsche Militärtradition. Ich will BW Soldaten nicht nahe treten die können ja auch nix dafür, aber die BW ist eifnach nur peinlich und garantiert keine traditionelle deutsche Armee sondern Ami-Hilfskorp mit deren Bräuche.

A nation that held back the might of the Roman Empire, that grew from a small nation surrounded by more powerful nations and states to be a player on the world stage should be proud of its military history and should let it shine. War is horrible but it is a part of the human experience. Professionalism in it ought not to be seen as anything other than what it is, excellence in the realm of martial skill. The Prussian military tradition and the professionalism that should continue today in the German military is nothing to be ashamed of or hide. It should not be confused with the sad period in German history under the National Socialists. Germany and her history of military professionalism has been emulated around the globe because it excelled in martial training and elevated it to a point that other nations, whether secretly or opernly, admired and desired it for their own armed forces.

ja projection18... du hast recht... aber die "elite"-soladtan der NVA trugen damals auch nur plaste-hleme ( wegen dem gewicht.... ) aber insgesamt war diese zeremonie schon imposanter....weil einfach besser marschiert wurde.....

Das unsere Armee, sich langsam auf die alten Traditionen wieder annimmt ist gut! Der Schnitt wurde übrigens von einem sozialdemokratischen Offizier der demokr. Reichswehr vorgeschlagen! @MultiJkap Die Bundeswehr Repräsentationshelme des Wachregiments und des Musikkorps sind auch aus Plaste. Die werden in diesem Video von allen Soldaten getragen was man am Kinnriemen sieht. Zweitens glänzen Gefechtshelme nicht und sind auch nicht blaugrau sondern olivgrün. Das nur zum Thema "elite"-soldaten.... Der Uniformschnitt der Luftwaffenuniform ist dem der Wehrmachtsluftwaffe stark Nachempfunden.Dazu gehört eben ein blauer Mantel.

I don't understand why most people assume that ALL of the Germany's army traditions came from the Nazis. It has NOTHING to do with the Nazis - even the "Hail Hitler salute" wasn't Nazi at all it was the Roman salute. Alot of their marches are Prussian. My favourite has to be the "Prussian Gloria" I love the tune!

I too believe its nice to see Germany regaining some of its former Prussian traditions,such as the torchlight parades. Those helmets,unfortunately,got to go. The M-42 was and is,a much better looking helmet,in addition to being very sturdy.

@MrJimmyboy1972 Certainly pre 1933. I am Prussian by heritage, and very proud of my heritage. The government of the 1933-1945 period brought nothing but shame and destruction to Germany. This is a Prussian military tradition, and has nothing to do with the national socialist. I am happy to see that the modern German army is embracing it's 18th and 19th century roots, which has absolutely nothing to do with the nazis whatsoever. Thanks.

@soutache thats true but is false to say that the modern german army is dont embracing any references to the 33-45 period. The camuflage pattern is very similar to the Waffen SS, they still use the MG-42, the air forces are called Luftwaffe (a 33-45 name), the Panzergrenadier nomenclature was decided by Hitler himself and its still in use, the tanks and vehicles are using animal names like in WW2. In my opinion the german army in strictly unpolitical form has to be proud also of ww2 soldiers.
