LOL. this is one funny banter. David has always admired Daughtry but I bet countless comparison has been made and it's not really good for both Chris and David. They have different music, different voices and personalities. The only thing they have in common is Idol.

wow. wonder why everyone's so hostile about this? We can all appreciate the amount of fame Daughtry has. Also, the amount of fame David Cook has. Be it not as much as Daughtry (just yet) They are still amazing singers. He was making a joke. He even pointed out "daughtry is a Nice Guy" he wasn't making fun. at all.

I love David's sense of humor! This was a funny bit! Oh trust me David Cook is all that and more! I just saw him in conert and he and his band rocked! People waited in line for hours to get up front to see him perform. The guy's voice is AMAZING live. He loves Daughtry and they even met once briefly. He has no beef with Daughtry, it was the DJ's comment he was joking about. All in good fun!

As a follow up -- David has been asked about Daughtry countless times in interviews and he has always responded to the effect that he is flattered to even be mentioned in the same breath as the guy. I think there's just a bit of defensiveness going on here by some Daughtry fans (of which I happen to be one) -- especially since David specifically noted at the end that he thinks Daughtry is a great guy. Wish folks weren't so quick to take offense.

You are entitled to your opinion, as are we all. But it is only an opinion that Daughtry is best. In my opinion, Cook is the best? Which of us is right? It's all subjective. For me, Cook is way ahead of Daughtry, although I bought his album & like it. For you, Daughtry is better. I have no problem with that. But really, don't state that Daughtry is the best as if that is incontrovertible fact, because it is ONLY an opinion. They are BOTH great musicians & awesome human beings.

God I loved it when he said that! I was cracking up in the audience, and I just talked with Tater from k92 on the phone and he couldn't believe that David actually said it at the concert, and I defended David totally! :)

LMAO, I was wondering how long it would take for a daughtry fan to get all upset. I love daughtry, I have his cd, and I love david. He was just joking and said daughtry was a great guy. Im sure daughtry would laugh at it too...god, please people lighten up.

It's easy for you to judge when you weren't even there, but take it from someone who was. He never asked anyone to boo at the mention of Daughtry's name, they just did that on their own.

He wasn't being compared to Daughtry. The DJ said he was Daughtry's twin, as an insult as if to say he was trying to copy Daughtry. David even said Daughtry's a great guy at the end; he was just trying to make a JOKE.

And FYI, Chris Daughtry hasn't written every song on his album either.

guys if you actually listened to what he is saying you'd understand that he isn't meaning it in a way that he doesn't like or respect Daughtry, it's just a good banter theme and a way for people to request his songs :) at the end he said Daughtry's a "great guy" so calm down....

He wasn't encouraging anything. Listen to the banter! He was just saying what the DJ said as an intro to asking the audience to request his new single; the fact that the audience boo'd is not something he encouraged at all. Anyway, I like Daughtry and own his CD, but the fact of the matter is that it is excessively tiring to hear DJs and journalists constantly comparing David to Daughtry, as if the fact that they both came from Idol means that they make the same exact type of music.
