Jeff was able to totally embody a song a make it his own...It makes me want to cry the sheer beauty of it. It's nice to hear a version of this song not on Sin-e. Where did you get the bearsville recording?
@BlueMorningSong Yes, he did more than sing songs ... he inhabited them. If you watch "Hallelujah" from "Live at Chicago," you can see it happen. When he sings "... you saw her bathing on the roof/her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you" ... he enters the song and doesn't come back until it's over. It must have been so beautiful to see him live. Thanks, Eric, for this.
@ConnaisPasLaFin No problem. There's probably more to come sometime soon. I just pick and choose my personal favorites. He had so many recordings that would've been big hits. He's by far the most talented and underrated artists of the 90s.
@ScrewballFlicks he isn't widely recognised though, maybe for hallelujah, but he has songs on the same level as that. he's popular with us who love his music. it's just sad if you say to most people oh have you heard jeff buckley and they say oh yeah the one who did hallelujah?
im not sure people realize how brilliant this is

@ericlord821 I don't think you mean 'underrated' because he's most certainly rated pretty well and valued as a musician
