I would ADD a red flag to this video: "Hey kids dont try this at home is dangerous!" you are overloading that poor battery with 10 times its working voltage plus no current regulation, that little batt could do a nasty bang bang! not very nice so close to a Joe Cell with hidrogen flowing out!
this is a great example of CAPACITIVE CHARGING! e field is set up with charging battery and charges the dielectric water. lil' battery is charged with this quite quickly.
BS. The "Joe Cell" functions more or less like a resistor so those poor alligator clip leads don't melt.
I don't challenge the fact the NiMH cell gained charge, but it isn't a full charge and the only reliable way of measuring the true remaining charge is to discharge it to a known load and gather data.
how much current does it draw when it charging??? I just checked a couple rechargeables that I have and the capacitance of them is 1500 mAh. That means to charge a battery at 1/C you have to apply 1.5 Amps for 1 hr. Now if you go to a 15 minute charge that would be a 4/C rate and require 6 amps for 15 minute to fully charge. So 15 seconds? that would require 60 times the current! that's 360 AMPS!
hello, interesting video... did u know that the "Joe cell" is just a Hydrogen fuel cell? When a current is hooked up to the cylinders and the water begins to bubble, that is making Hydrogen! the bubbles ARE Hydrogen...
My question is, how does one know that the large 12volt battery is not doing the instant charing of the 1.2 volt battery? have you done a test video showing the charing time of the 1.2volt with out using the JoeCell, were only the 12 volt is charging the 1.2 volt battery?
Nope, I have my cell on a timer and just the negative hooked up to a 12 volt battery, started with 1.8 volts and now have 2.79 volts. Only the negative hooked up, I also had 2 batterys gain up to 16 volts in my car, doubled my fuel milage as well.
just hooking up the 12v battery to the AA would charge it so fast that it would over heat the AA. the Joe cell actually charges it slower then the 12v alone would. also as many people have said the voltage tells you nothing of the state of charge.
Voltage, but no amps are stored in the battery. So, When a load is applied to your AA cell, it will have no push "Amps" to run your device. All devices use AMPS not voltage. Voltage is just a "Range" and is not the Power of..
yeah its nice to see, but i think so. Its not real charge but just a kind of electrified battery :)
I think that so fast recharge will blow up the battery. Thats why needs time. Its due to the battery nature itself.. anyway its never know. Test it the battery, measure the current too not only voltage.
If you have ever checked an alost dead battery will appear to have almost full voltage until a load is applied to it.
The voltage of a battery is dependant on the amount of current that is being drawn through it all you have proved is that you have placed a small amount of charge in the cell.
So well I guess you could say it was instantly charge by an incredible small amount.
The electrolitic charging affect is as cool as FAct.
You are losing voltage and gaining hydro-current amps causing retarded electron movement. Do you collect electrolitic debris on the soldered batt terminals?
would you consider your cell to be at stage 3? It doesn't look like it to me. It looks like its only stage one. Did you build it or buy it? That's great to see a stage one cell do that. How long will the battery hold a charge under a load like your mp3 player?
pfffpfpfpfpfff hahahaha. Bam, instantly charged and holds it.
You can't seriously expect me to believe that by looking at a multimeter which is drawing microamps from that battery.
Sorry to busrt your bubble of confidence but you try hooking that battery to a load and it will run flat again in a second.

interesting video guy, don't understand all the negativity your getting, but ignore it keep trucking... & thanks.

To me, Joe cell is more like a "joke cell" since you kinda made a joke device to show how a battery can be charged.

we need to see this happen with scopes!
great work. keep it up

Discharge test please. How many mah do you get when discharging it.

Is the positive off the 12V battery?

Does it work like normal full battery? Sounds like a lot of amps during recharegeing.

your reading is not the voltage of the battery, but the voltage of the output connected to the battery.
1.24 volts is a dead battery.

ah and you must disconnect battery from original energy source when you want to measure its charge.....

that's pretty awesome man
good job, I've never heard of a joe cell

Maybe your "orgone" energy has entered your brain and made you believe that you have just discovered a new dimension in science.
Dude you're a genius!
How much for that thing, maybe it can power my whole village.
Watch out or the oil companies will hunt you down and push marshmallows in your ears if your joe cell reach stage 4!!

hi there if that is a joecell then you have the connections mixed up.!
in a joecell the positive should be on the out side and negative on the inner tube

measure again.#
Many thanks.
