Book Review #2 - Night World: Daughters of Darkness by LJane Smith

Ash has to be my favourite character through out the whole series.

I love how he's so mysterious and cocky haha. And how you know that he really loves and cares about his sisters and Mary Lynette, but he just doesn't wan't to show it.

Yes. I think he thought of emotion as a weakness, but him realizing he loved a human made him rethink his perspective not just on humans but on everything. If you go on to L.J. Smith's official site, she has a great side-story starring these two, telling of story of when they finally see each other again, and you get to see how Ash has changed. It's a fantastic read!

Downside of daughters of darkness: You dont know how old they are exactly. This becomes a little bit of a problem when writing fanfiction.

I guessed that Mare was around 16-17 in the book, and Mark about 14.

Jeeze, I have looked throough the whole story countless times to try 'n' find ages.

That is very true, the ages are vague in Daughters of Darkness.

Mare's age is I believe, seventeen and Mark is around fifteen.

I know, Ash is eighteen. Rowan is Nineteen. Kestrel is Seventeen. And Jade is Sixteen.

Same author, different book series. This is the Night World series, it's separate from Vampire Diaries.

As far as I know there is no date for the 10th book, Strange Fate, yet. I have no idea what will happen to Ash and Mary-Lynette, although if you read the sidestory L.J. Smith wrote about them on her website, it may give you some idea~

okay i checked strange fate is coming out April,6,2010. if you dont believe go to amazon and look up l.j.smith strange fate (pre-order) you dont have to pre-order it just look at the cover and read

Strange Fate has had several pre-order dates over the years on Amazon, but they keep changing due to L.J. still not finishing it. Right now she's working on the third Vampire Diaries: The Return book primarily, although that still may leave room for an April 2010 release, I'm not going to put much stock in that date given how many release date i've seen for Strange Fate. Only time will tell.

I don't think so, but I'm fairly sure that most, if not all, of the main characters will be making cameos in the 10th book, which isn't finished yet. I know in Soulmate you get to see a lot of the main characters from past books briefly, but I can't recollect if James and Poppy are in there or not.

He's going to be in the 10th and final Night World book, Strange Fate. Also, if you go to LJane Smith's official website, she has a story on Ash and Mary-Lynette's reuniting that she wrote, I really recommend it. It's nice to see Ash in action again =D

He doesn't really appear anywhere else because of his decisions at the end of Daughters of Darkness.

The Chosen is a great one! That and Daughters of Darkness would be my top two for the Night World series, with Black Dawn coming in close after them.

I LOVE the night world series, I think that it is way better then twilight :P i just wanted to ask you, i have the three-stories-in-one books and I would really like to have the single-story-in-book books.... do you know where i could find all of the stories in the older form?? by the way, you explain the books VERY good!!

I got mine mostly from private sellers on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. I got my Dark Visions omnibus on eBay. I find that Amazon's private sellers are the best for the individual Night World books.
