  • Solid game, lovely graphics for the day... twas a tad difficult for those of us without joysticks :(

  • @SteveResin It was amazing back when I was a kid. Not only was it in 3D but you could rotate the screen to see behind things. The programmer was very clever!!

Could be a little tricky to control for sure ;o)

  • I wonder what it is I can do now, like jump on an ant, to give an advantage, because I never knew you could jump on them.

  • I had a map of ant attack and I made a note of where the girl was on each level. This was 1 of the few games I completed along with a Bruce Lee game lol

  • @mikerainham It was cool back in the day when the mags used to give the maps to the games... and yeah this is one of the few speccy games I ever completed back in the day too!

  • the music in this video is pretty dope. care filling us in on what it is (in the beginning and at 6:50)?

  • @beeaar01 Its the music from Ghostbusters 2!! ;o)

  • SOLID GOLD MEDAL!

  • @Pobotrol CASH FOR GOLD ;o)

  • Did anyone else play this game then go outside and do the Ant Attack walk?

  • @mildrew38 not me ha ha... was a great game though wasnt it? Cheers for the comments ;o)

  • He slates Zombie Zombie but I loved that game and didn't like Ant Attack at all!

  • I used to play this with my brother. It seemed extremely sophisticated in 1985

  • @Fentoradore Yeah I used to play it with my brother too... its amazing for the time isnt it ;o)

  • How did you manage to have not only the inlay intact, but the various different versions of the cassette, and notes from the code of the game? are you in fact Sandy White????

  • @Pablos544 ha ha yes I am... no Im not really, I just do the research before doing the reviews thats all. Hope you liked the review mate? Cheers for watching ;o)

  • Ha ha i actually believed you, yes mate. I loved the review. Very well done, mate. :)

  • @Pablos544 Thanks, hope you subscribe as more to come soon. Cheers ;o)

  • My wife is the only child of the now deceased Nick Lambert, founder of Quicksilva. Great games for their time.. great review and a great man still sadly missed by his daughter. Cheers for keeping things going:)

  • @cottertwenty wow how cool. Sad to hear about her loss but at least you know that people are still loving the games that he left behind. Thanks for teh comments and really happy that the video might have helpped in some way to preserve the memory? Cheers mate and regards to your wife ;o)

  • I've just found Ant Attack was released on the C64, Bugger!

  • As a kid I saw this game in WHSmith and thought it looked amazing. I went from ZX81 to C64 so I never got chance to play it. At last my curiosity is satisfied by the beauty of the internet!

  • Like you said it was on the C64... But you really should had stuck with the old Speccy instead of going for the C64 ha ha! Cheers for watching mate ;o)

  • wow, my fave game on the speccy, still have the speccy boxed up and my games. the first one me and my mate completed was transylvanian towers which was dull. then i discovered attic attack, brill! would explain why im now xbox cod modwr2, and i say so much "the graphics" its all good!

  • It was a really cool game wasnt it. Back in the day I couldnt beleive how good the graphics were on this game. It just goes to show the amount of skill these old programers had. No huge companies making games back then just people at home programming... cheers mate ;o)

  • Loved the video. I remember being addicted to this as a kid. It was fun to just run around the city killing ants. Speccy games had a certain mystique about them, cant quite put my finger on it.

  • Thanks Im glad you liked it mate. I agree Speccy games were special. I think its because the graphics were not that great your imagination filled in the gaps and made them better than they were! Cheers ;o)

  • Ant Attack was awesome. I hated it at first, until I got used to the controls (best to keep your finger glued to the walk button for most of the game).

Yeah, what was Sandy White on when he wrote Zombie, Zombie? I expected a lot from that game & was so disappointed when I finally got to play it.

Was that a clip from Them! at the end of the vid? I always thought that was a black & white movie.

  • Thanks mate, I love your comments.

I know what you mean, Zombie Zombie! was a crappy sequal but this game was a sure classic of a game.

The graphics were amazing for its time too weren't they? Cheers for watching mate ;o)

  • What a great review, well done!

    I love it!

    5 stars

  • Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. Good to hear when people like your vids... cheers, I hope you have subscribed? ;o)

  • I subscribed :p

  • I came across this after looking @ other Ant Attack reviews. You are miles better than them and you do good background research too. Keep going.

  • Thanks, thats great to hear! I try to give each game some background info etc. Glad you liked it, subscribe as more to come soon! Cheers ;o)

  • Great game and nice video. Congratulations :)

  • Had this one too, must've been around 7/8 at the time. Funny the little details you remember even at that age - I still remember the game was set in Antwerp (geddit?) lol.

Thanks for taking the time to upload your review, I will subscribe.

  • No problem, thanks for watching (and subscribing too!) I will be making more soon but very busy at the moment and these do take a good few hours to make! Cheers ;o)

  • I live in Japan now - games arcades everywhere, Manga, etc. The country's one giant neon vid gage - but nothing comes close to the sinister A/Attack. Totally bewitching. Well said, interghost, a child had to use its imagination, only added to the atmosphere.

  • Thanks for posting. This game was deep, deep in my subconscious, somewhere. I remember it to be quite haunting, as seen as a kid 25 years ago. Cheers.

  • I know what you mean. Playing these games as kids you had to use a lot of imagination, and this sometimes makes the games much better than any graphics can ever do! This game is quite spooky! Cheers ;o)

  • This was great to see again, I only completed it once and after that never realy tryed again. Good memorys , to see how to win alchemy would be great.

  • Glad you liked it. It was good to play again for me too. I have added Alchemy to the list of requests and will do it in the future.. Hope you subscribed as more to come this year (including some Atari ST games and maybe even some SNES games again??)

  • Thanks for the review, this game made a huge impression on me when I first played it. What is the movie at the end of the clip?

  • good review, but your voice is too quiet in the mix mate

  • Ok thanks for the feedback. I think the problem is the music was a bit loud so if you turn the sound up to hear my voice then the music blasts your ears when it gets to it? Will try to sort this for the next one mate. Hope you subscribed? Cheers ;o)

  • awsome review once again!

  • this is one of those game i didn't really understand as a little kid, and probably got the most enjoyment out of the cover artwork, great to see what it is you were supposed to be doing, nice one ghost

  • Yeah I remember trying to play it and I think we just wondered around aimlessly.. Dont think we ever read the instructions? Yeah I think the tape cover has a great picture on it. Thanks ;o) (PS - I hope you've rated the video too ha ha)

  • Good stuff mate, keep it up!

  • Mate thanks for the reviews as you can see they bring back great memories!!

Ant attack is in my all time fave game list on any system, something magical about it(for me anyhow)

Cheers mate, your a top man.

  • No problems.. glad you liked it. Yeah I agree theres something about the games on the Speccy that just bring the memories flooding back isn't there? Cheers ;o)

  • Fantastic, I remember seeing this game in a little game shop in Worcester called "The Black Hole" and I remember thinking, that this is the best thing I have ever seen and buying this and "Birds and The Bees" which also looked fantastic in the little dark shop, with about 5 spectrums booted up playing various games including "Black Crystal" another one I had to have!
