I found an airdate of September 10th, 1983. I tend to go with this date, since Marilyn McCoo left the show in spring 1984. Also, during fall '83-spring '84, she hosted alone.

She returned in fall 1986, after Rick had passed away.

I honestly say they're different appearances. He's got on different clothes, & in 1985 Rick was wearing those distinctive ties, instead of the open shirt with Marilyn.

One last thing: to me, Rick looks much better & healthier doing "You Know What I Mean" from '85. With Marilyn in '83, he seems more tired if you observe his face.

From what I've read, by 1985 Rick had kicked his drug habit, and was in fact much healthier physically and mentally (which makes his untimely death at the end of that year even more tragic).
