  • she aged so well...whitney COULD have done the same...

  • No matter who sings this song -- and there have been many great, famous singers who have -- it is the song itself that has the most value. It is a beautiful melody and great lyrics. Have loved it since Brook Benton sang it in the early 60's.

  • First Elvis in 1977, at 42, Then John Lennon in 1980 at age 40, and then ol' Rick in 1985, at 45 years of age... seems like the large portion of my favorites are leaving.

  • very sweet - miss his face

  • He was a very good tennis player as well as an entertainer. When he came to Tulsa

he had his racket with him .

  • They were great together on singing one of my all time favorite Ricky songs! They should have made a single together!

  • actually she is not that attractive....

  • Singing isn"t a beauty contest it"s about talent!

  • @pabock71 That's something this new batch of singers hasn't learned yet. They all depend on the computer

and, the mixing board to make them sound good. Rick and Marilyn didn't have them and didn't need them.

    They were just plain great.

  • did she reach over and kiss the white boy ??

  • Could there ever be anyone as cute as Marilyn McCoo?

  • What beautiful talented woman Marilyn is, and I grew up watching the ozzie Nelson show, Seen Rick sing on the show every week. Will never forget Rick RIP

  • This was on Sept. 14, 1985.

  • This must have been a year and a half or 2 years before Rick's tragic death in a plane crash.

  • I Love You Marilyn!

  • there was but will never be again a Voice like ricks he made singing look so easy I sure miss him

  • Why does everybody rate who did what better than who? Be thankful these images are still around to remind us of what we had back then. I really believe there is a place where Rick, Elvis, Roy, Marvin, Lennon, Harrison are all sitting around and making music you can't even imagine. At least I hope so, I want to see all of 'em again.

  • He really did keep his looks and voice. he was beautiful right up to the end.

  • I loved Ricky Nelson on TV in Ozzie and Harriet

  • he looks VERY uncomfortable on stage. He is holding onto that mic for dear life. Due to his apparent fear, his voice was monotone.

  • @oceanbound222 he didn't want that no titties thang grabing his hand !!

  • @RONALD511 ...give me a break, no titties or huge titties, she's so hot it hardly matters.

And he's the one who touching her first. She's a little hard to resist.

  • @911insidejo8 Tell 'em Ronald! One of the cutest and most talented ladies ever! Period!

  • What a tragedy that he died young!! Rick had so much to contribute to modern pop songs!

Marilyn is fabulous - so beautiful and talented! She was magnificent in the early 70s.

  • Rick was good looking all his life we miss ya rick

  • Her voice fits any style, song or anything !

  • Aint that little Ricky Nelson man where are the Ozzies ?

  • Hey marilyn can over power me anytime and spread her love on me...

  • What a great posting... Ricky looked just the my first fiancee.Such a fun video. Sure do miss him.

  • I don't think she overpowered him at all. From a guys perspective, and believe me I love women to death, Ricky and Elvis had to be two of the best looking guys ever.

  • I wanted to hear Rick, but Marilyn over powered him.

  • Be thankful it was Marilyn McCoo and not Whitney Houston!

    Or god forbid Celine Dion.

  • @SgtRock2008 Celine would have completely over powered..or Mariah...his voice was perfect though..even tho I would have liked it louder.

  • marilyn oversings it a bit but a sweet duet

  • I found an airdate of September 10th, 1983. I tend to go with this date, since Marilyn McCoo left the show in spring 1984. Also, during fall '83-spring '84, she hosted alone.

She returned in fall 1986, after Rick had passed away.

  • Check out "You Know What I Mean," from September '85 on Solid Gold, featuring his full band & the Jordanaires on here.

I honestly say they're different appearances. He's got on different clothes, & in 1985 Rick was wearing those distinctive ties, instead of the open shirt with Marilyn.

One last thing: to me, Rick looks much better & healthier doing "You Know What I Mean" from '85. With Marilyn in '83, he seems more tired if you observe his face.

  • From what I've read, by 1985 Rick had kicked his drug habit, and was in fact much healthier physically and mentally (which makes his untimely death at the end of that year even more tragic).

  • Really enjoyed this duo. Rick Nelson was so handsome, so talented, and so nice. RIP. Marilyn McCoo's also one of my favorites. Thanks for posting.

  • @doctorrhythm1964 ricky never got old and ugly!

  • Oh Boy, Ricky was so handsome♥

    May he rest in peace.

  • Ricky Nelson....WHAT A HEART THROB!!!!!

:3 I love him! RIP babe!

  • Just loved Ricky Nelson..God bless his soul..

a great great loss... Beautiful duet..She is

    so great too..

  • i dnt like this verdsion

  • God bless Rick Nelson.

  • if someone told me to sing my hit from over 20 years ago id feel real old

  • The backing band could have done Glen Campbell's Gentle on My Mind with this same beat... and nothing wrong with that ...

  • how sweet, love 'em both Rick Nelson and Marilyn McCoo

  • this is sooooooo tiuching i love em both

  • Great duet....btw, what year was this....

  • Probably 1983 or 1984. Anyone else know for sure...?

  • The only Solid Gold appearence that I see for Nelson is September 14, 1985. This must be that show. He died in the plane crash only two and half months later.

  • @mccoofan According to IMDb, it originally aired September 14, 1985

  • @mccoofan around that time- close enough for me - great song regardless , lets just enjoy friends :)

  • I love the original song by Ricky, but this duet was just so much better. Marilyn was just a multi talented babe.

  • Thank you so much for putting this on. I have never seen this clip, I loved it so much. You could tell that he was a little nervious, but he was always very shy. I have always loved Ricky and I will always love Ricky. Thanks again.

  • Rick's throat, I am strange.

    The low tension

  • A beautiful duet.

  • despite his "bad habits" nelson looks and sounds great.

and marilyn is one of the greatest, ever

  • I love Ricky Nelson! He is hot and ageless! RIP! What a hot family! He had a hot mom and dad and still has 3 handsome sons!

  • you don't knowor are to young to understand how special rick was

  • thanks for putting this on!! now if only we could get "dream lover". beautiful...ricky and the song.

  • thanks for putting this on. now if only we could get "dream lover". awesome ricky!!
