Very well put -- it is a Masterpiece -- then, now and forever. A timeless, genius creation from SOS. Also another perfect song from SOS for a long, care-free drive (day or night).
The "It's Better To Travel" CD sounded so good in 1987 and sounds even better today. Thank you VH1 for playing their music back then. Played this tune on my Sony WalkMan cassette player over and over.
Yo I remember this one, and whenever I listen to it I think of New York City, sounds like a bustling city and nothing else matches it except probably London. Wonderful tune!!!!
I loved this song way back when I bought the "Its Better to Travel" cassette tape back when it first came out.. and still love this version to this day. Beautiful!
Think of the nightlife in New York and L.A........this is the theme song for such moments.....the horns, the strings, and man those vocals.....who says the British doesn't embrace American R&B?........Their music is influenced by it!.......RECOGNIZE!!!!!!!
I am sick of this Shit with Amazon. They advertise "Download this song" yet they're selling some live version that does not rock like this recorded version. Itunes is just as bad. They edit the song cutting off the intro and the end. Who the hell is resonsible for this crap??
@shjakes Took me two seconds to find the right version. Yeah, the YouTube links to the version on their Live album, but just click on the page to see all their mp3 downloads...Twilight World is third on the list. This is one of their most popular songs.
@utubescent The song is just excellent and does flow very nicely. When I was overseas, it was popular with the ladies. Corrine Drewery is definitely very underrated as a singer. She makes the song work without going over the top. A very fine song from a very fine album.
I hear you baby. Pass the dutchie. I got that 60 on it and the Dutch Masters so we be ready to roll. Holla! let not forget the big bag of Cheetoes. I get the munchies like a motherfucker!
Awesome music. The music is so, so good. The swirling, talking strings/(keyboard work) and that snare drum just falling down steady, POW!.....POW!......POW!.....POW! She sings off that BEAT so surely. The background vocal supporting pattern is so NICE. This song is total hall of fame.
i am getting sick of twilight and all the people who actually like it. it is to boring anyway eclipse was just stupid i seen the leaked copy online themovieinsider info/eclipse
Yeah - it's a real tribute to the strength of Andy's musicianship that the opening can run a full 1:20 - over a third of the length of a typical song - and not ever feel or sound "boring" in the least.
And to think, this classic (along with their blockbuster hit, "Breakout!" which put them on the international map) was on their DEBUT album!
The full-length 6:29 version never seems long, and that wonderfully coquettish, seductively melodic "Woo-hoo!" at 4:10 gets me every time! Rewind time.
It gives me chills whenever I hear Corinne do the "ooo-oooh" at 4:10. Her voice is absolutely tonally pure. Corinne's vocal ability is only matched by her beauty. And Corinne is beautiful beyond words.
@mistermisterxx -A'int that the TRUTH !!?? The combination of horns and strings in the intro is one of the most outstanding and memorable creations I've ever heard and it remains near the top of my list of musical favorites....after all these years :)
(Kinda reminds me of "Tale of Two Cities" -Salsoul Orchestra)
The "intro" in this song has a lot of soul and Ms. Corinne has a soulful spirit. I just love this song and the Swing Out Group. Sister's got it going on!!
It's nice and refreshing to see that all responses to date--Oct. 16, 2009--are positive and that so far, no neer-do-well sourpuss has jumped in here to criticize the music or video. Great performance--great "audience!"
Probably one of the best remixes of its time and a definite modern classic. A guaranteed relaxant as the title on the LP suggests - "The Superb, Superb Mix.
