  • BTW, this movie was on HBO last night. Burned it to DVD.

It was on probably because Van Halen is on tour.

  • Hey it's "Stay Frosty", the brand new Van Halen song, followed by "Good Enough" from 5150 (bowling scene)

  • @777zippy777 * "Blood And Fire"

  • @runnersdialzero333 You're right- whoops. I like the wild life version better. That riff just sounds better for some reason.

  • @777zippy777 Different keys. I was familiar with "Blood And Fire" first, so I may be a bit biased, but I like both versions quite a bit. Still pains me that this is about as good as you can find in regards to hearing EVH's original recordings of these songs.

  • "you see this, .... next time it's your face"... lol

  • I hear some "Good enough" and "Right now" in there. Just goes to show that Eddie always went back the past to use on records all these dumb fucks like Hagar making a big deal out of it.

  • if your goin to put the movie on here don't cut out parts of it!!!!!!

  • @timmytreakleknows32 If you want full movies, try a movie site! This was merely to highlight EVH 's work in movie. Did you read the description?

  • @fu2nbc I read your description and its cool that you posted Eddie's soundtrack. Unfortunately this movie is out of print and almost impossible to find... Is there any way you could upload the entire movie, even if its just for a couple of days? I would love to see it again.

  • too bad Netflix doesn't have this available to rent =(

  • Thanks. i'am a Big Fan of EVH

  • I've read that this movie was never released on dvd because they couldn't get the music to be cleared by the big greedy record company's. That sucks cause it's an awesome movie! Your best bet is to buy it on vhs to hear all the great music that's in the movie.

  • @StuffedGames DVD copies can be found on Amazon. I didn't order one because I was afraid it was gonna be some piece of shit copy and I was afraid I might get one of the copies without the original Eddie Van Halen score. I ordered a VHS copy which I will have burned onto a DVD.

  • i like it but why is it skiping parts?

  • at 3:31 you hear remnants of the song "right now"

  • Alex's drums sound so rad

  • 10:18 - what's the name of that song????

  • BEST movie...EVER!!!

  • Trying to figure out why I've never heard of this movie before now. I've seen every other 80's cult classic movie. Have to try and find this one on DVD somewhere!

  • @carole216 Unfortunately, there's no DVD version. That's a shame. : (

  • @StuffedGames Thanks. I discovered that after I went to Amazon.com and only found the VHS version available for sale. Wonder why they haven't released it on DVD yet?!? Strange. Guess I'll have to try and catch it on HBO sometime, 'cause I don't own a VHS player anymore.

  • I just watched ''The Wild Life'' last night on Cinemax again for probably the 100th time, never gets old.......Fucking Cult Classic!!!...And oh yeah i smoked a big fat Doobie while i watched too

  • Man, that's Independence Day producer / writer Dean Devlin as the liquor store clerk! Love this movie

  • anyone have the second clip (the early morph of "good enough") full and isolated? It's great

  • Nice Guy Eddie.

  • Dude I've seen this movie way to many times to count!! I've got the soundtrack on cassette and vinyl. And the movie on VHS, in fact I'm going to watch it right now. Awesome.

  • that girl at 9:15 is sexy lol

  • who is the chick at 915 in? she looks so familiar

  • I wish this was on DVD

  • Was on cable last night, some of the music wasn't in. "Right Now" was in. Not sure if the "Good Enough' cue was in, and also missed if the VH piece was played when Lea is waiting for the cop. "Back to the Future' riff was almost gone. No music as Chris jumped out the window, but it played as he drove off. No music when Lea is in the car with her friend. "Mine All Mine" was replaced with a Hendrix song. "A.F.U" was in but the 1st 2 parts had a Prince song & Donut City. End credits music was in.

  • @tylerdurden3891 I saw HBO schedule. Jan 4 2 plays (4:20am & 7:20am) and Jan 19 2 plays(2:10am & 5:10am).

  • @fu2nbc Cool, thanks for letting me know. I'm gonna wake up early and tape it at 7:20am. Though i'll probably use the audio from this version, and replace the new audio to keep all the Eddie Van Halen tunes in. Basically I'll dub the better quality version with the audio from this version for those scenes in particular.

  • @tylerdurden3891 Better hope they didn't cut some scenes if they altered audio. Interesting Idea. Let me know if your edit works. Tom

  • @fu2nbc From what I could tell, the scenes were not edited visually at all. All the dialogue and sound effects were still there.Meaning Eddie's contributions were put in last. The real question here is, besides if what i saw here was a dvd that isn't available here in the U.S, did Eddie personally tell them to remove some of his music? And if so, why certain music cues and not others? Why was "Right Now' left in, but not "Mine All Mine"?

  • @tylerdurden3891 Right Now is instantly identifiable? I wondered if EVH may be part of DVD release complications. Would all involved re negotiate release or just owner of movie? If so it would explain HBO version excluding majority. I have to tape! Thanks.

  • @fu2nbc The version you see on HBO and other cable broadcasts features the ORIGINAL theatrical soundtrack. Songs by Prince, Madonna, and others were removed from all home video versions because of rights issues...these "blanks" were filled in with additional Eddie Van Halen cues.

  • @kneelzod Thanks for info. I have to get HBO someday just to see changes. Wouldn't be the same movie without EVH but I wouldn't miss others mentioned.

  • @fu2nbc I'm always in favor of having the film released in original format when possible. I was under the impression that the Van Halen cues used to replace the songs were cues repeated from other sections not entirely new pieces. There is still PLENTY of EVH in the theatrical version of the film.

  • @kneelzod Did you see it in theaters? I'm curious how you know this. If it's true, when did Eddie "fill in the gaps"? What year?

  • @tylerdurden3891 I've seen a theatrical print and have a DVD-R recording I made from an Encore broadcast. Many Universal titles of the '70s and '80s were affected by music rights issues on home video, resulting in videos with "some music rescored for home video." If you look at the back of the WILD LIFE tape or laserdisc, you will see the disclaimer: "Home Video Version." Several songs, which Universal did not secure home video rights for were excised.

  • @tylerdurden3891 EVH likely composed more music than could fit in the film originally; when the video needed to be "rescored," his music was ready to be inserted where necessary. Also, Universal Home Video often reused cues or songs from other sections of a film in order to "fill a gap" caused by music legal issues.

  • @kneelzod Ah, interesting. Well, that's explains why "Ripley" and that other sentimental piano piece shows up twice (The music when Lea is in the car (after finding out the cop is married) and at the end when Chris Penn tries to win back his girl.

  • @tylerdurden3891 "Right Now" couldn't have been in the movie. The movie was released in 1984 and Sammy Hagar didn't join Van Halen til 85 and they released their first album with him in 86. "Right Now" didn't come out until 1991 on the album "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge". "Good Enough was on their first Hagar album "5150" in 1986. Also, "Mine All Mine" was released on "OU812" in 1988 :)

  • @woodfam66 Right Now was in this movie. Listen at 3:31 of the video. That's Right Now, just in a different key then we normally hear. Artist have all there ideas on tape. They use them when then need some new material to record. Eddie probably came up with Right Now around that time and didn't make a song out of it until 1991.

  • Thanks for posting,, Ive been waiting for this great american classic..

  • @slanguage1 Glad you enjoyed.

  • at 6:25, that music was also used in Back to the Future when Michael J. Fox presents to be the alien from outer space.

  • I would love to hear the full version of the song at 2:43. That is such a good clean tone.

  • There's a part missing that I just remembered. There's one small scene where Lea Thompson is waiting for the cop to show up at the doughnut shop. She's all dolled up, ready to go on a date, but he doesn't show. Eddie plays a small bit of music during this little 30-40 second scene.

  • A.F.U. Naturally Wired at 14:05. Damn they already had the next 3 albums wrote down and everything at 1984!! damn Eddie has a lot of stuff and planned a lot of stuff.

  • 13:20-14:04 - Mine All Mine

  • @tylerdurden3891 I've always wondered what would all these 5150 and OU812 songs would sound like with Roth in it.

  • @tylerdurden3891 I don't think that's Mine All Mine at that part. It's actually the music that was played live for Dave's martial art solo with the sword

  • @brian3377 I think you need to break out your copy of OU812 lol.

  • 3:40, it's 1984 and already they have Right Now already wrote down lmfao.

  • Great film!

Needs to be on DVD STAT!
