my only disappointment with this game (minor disappointment) was that we couldn't play through goblin town and find the way out sneaking behind gollum :( other than that, I think this was one of my favorite games of all time :D

This game is very underrated. A few years back, I used to play it all the time. It has great variation to it, not just plain fighting. I must have completed more than 20 times.

I'm suprised at how much Gollum looks like the one Brother Theodore voiced from the Rankin/Bass cartoon. I mean his ears and voice are different and he's a little more energetic, but clearly with the Rankin/Bass so far being the most recent version of the story it seems they were inspired by some things. But Gollum is rather hard to imagine then again. It seems everyone has some similar idea because Gollum is decribed so little in the book. It made him much more creepy and mysterious though.

The creators of the game tried a bit too hard to make the art style somewhat like Rankin/bass, even the voice is vaguely reminiscent of the old VO.

Ha ha he's even more energetic than the one in the Rankin/Bass cartoon! But everyone loves Gollum. And this game was alot of fun. It took forever to get through the Goblin caves to see this clip, but it was totally worth it. The illustration scenes were kinda funny looking though with Bilbo. I forget though. Why didn't the Eagles just fly them all the way to the Misty Mountain again? Been awhile since I read the book.

Well yeah i can consider that, but taking them from certain death and dropping them off to a place where death is possibly even more likely is basically like a giant "f**k you" to Bilbo and the Dwarves.

Yeah it's pretty underated. I actually did find the Goblin caves rather difficult. I think the best LOTR game was the Fellowship of the Ring game. It wasn't involved with Jackson's LOTR but it was still good and told by the book. The animation's great. The Nazgul freaked me out in the game though. You have to duck and elude them in the Shire and they can easily pick up your there. This was a great game though. Not as good as other's in the series, but good.
