Good music is definitely out there, although it's no longer in the mainstream.
@fckbadmusic ಠ_ಠ i know i love classic rock as much as you do, but i also love metalcore, mathcore, and all the genres that you mentioned. I'm more of an all-genres kind of guy and i think that mathcore can come with some beautiful results, as long as you do it right, of course.

I mean, I agree that the bands you listed are annoying and that the classic rock bands you like are good, but there is still plenty of good music out there. You just have to stay away from the emo and hipster crowd. Bands like Porcupine Tree, Ayreon and Karnivool are what i'd call good modern music (of course , there are many others, PM me if you want more suggestions).
