I suspect the then-current pop culture questions couldn't necessarily have been researched in an encyclopedia, this was a decade before the internet age hit full swing.

Speaking of football games, during the pre-game show of the Jets/Lions game which occurred on Thanksgiving 1985, Ahmad Rashad would propose marriage to a certain someone, who accepted, and they would be married the following month.
