  • I've owned the Genesis for 1 month. I've ridden in BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus, Infinitis, Acuras, VWs, and Volvos. Admittedly the European cars have stiffer handling & more sporty performance feel so if you're looking for this, the Genesis is not for you. But for you critics who think the Genesis is not as smooth as Lexus, Infiniti, or Acura-you are delusional. Smoothness of ride & quietness of cabin are on par with the Japanese competitors. I dare you to take a blindfolded ride to prove my point

  • what else you don't like besides the leather seats? Power steering ? Moron...

  • Who the hell hates leather seats??? LOL

  • Hyundai is an option for consumers who can't afford luxury cars or people who seeks good value. Hyundai brings competition to the market, forcing other makers such as BMW and Lexus to rethink their pricing policy knowing that Hyundai and others can make similar quality vehicles for lot less money. Great Job Hyundai!

  • @fvgotch Hyundai is trying to enter the luxury sedan market and they were smart to bring cars with all the bells and whistles at a much lower price point compared to the competitors. Maybe not tomorrow or next year, but I predict that in the next 10-15 years, Hyundai luxury sedans will be on par with their Japanese counterparts. Also, I disagree that it's for people "who can't afford luxury". Maybe some people don't want to pay a lot of money for a car. Image isn't everything. Performance is

  • The chrome painting looks cheap

  • That aint chrome paint man.

  • I mean the metallic paintjob looks cheap. Look at that lackluster shine.

  • Lol, you could always get it Premium painted from another place.

  • Luxury cars should always be premium painted in the first place.

Hyundai has to do a better job next time.

  • i really like this car but it's true

  • looks like youtube quality rape to me.

  • It's all about getting bang for your buck and you can't beat the price and warranty on this vehicle not to mention it looks nice inside and out plus the powerful engine.

  • YES, TIME WILL TELL!! Hyundai is finally getting its excellent position in the market Excellent cars, excellent warranty, excellent service. Why should I pay 35K dollar for a crappy Rav4, when I can get the same money and buy a beautiful Veracruz or Santa Fe, with better equipment, more safety and for may be less money.

  • The design of this car is so cheap.

It's like a Mercedes front welded to a BMW rear.

Was this one designed by Leepu?

  • RockyBoltzano

yeah the design of this car is cheap like the canadian cars.

    :)

  • I think it was designed in Korea.

  • V8 version seems like a decent deal.

  • Why is it that you hate leather again? You must have stuff you clean your cloth seats in your own car. You do have cloth seants in your car right? I've had trouble with my seats. They've faded since I got my car 3 years ago. That's why I'm considering leather. Especially sice the V8 Genesis has cooled seats! Good review on the Genesis though.

  • All this car is missing is innovation, and it will be on top. Still waiting on the VI though...

  • I feel ya but the Genesis is a strong competitior for carS costing thousands more.

    Owner of: 2000 Infiniti Q45t

  • if you never drove it

    shut the fuck up

  • I drove it and its shitttttt!!

  • And you probably have an LG television screen...

  • No I actually have a sony.... I bet you own a hyundai

  • No I actually have an Acura TL.

  • 375hp no matter what is 375hp and people buy cars mostly on power and luxury 2nd. Because you can have a BMW but they dont make any of their new cars under 200hp and if they do they dont respect it because they would suggest that its a waste of money for a low powered engine. The 100k regardless of the engine ever breaking down is something that the competition cant beat. Imagine taking in a bmw engine and getting it fixed for free up to 100k miles.

  • The 100k warranty will win this car over alone. They will beat lexus and bmw just because of that warranty and the engine. Its going to the competition mad and no one can say 375hp is not 375hp.

  • hyundai is the next toyota of tomorrow, their quality, reliability, and looks have improved big time, now their next focus is luxury and performance, there is no doubt that they will keep improving even more every year. its sad that american car company's are rapidly falling behind while japan and korea thrive.

I would buy a g37 but at half the price i could get the genesis coupe I-4 turbo that shares the same engine as the mitsubishi Evolution X. I cant wait till it comes out.

  • Wait... So do you think that Mitsubishi and Hyundai are owned by the same company? Kinda like Toyota owns Scion and Lexus? Just wondering cuz I always had a suspicion that they were like partners or something.

  • Really, Toyota created Scion and Lexus. There is a difference when a company owns a company than when they created or they are partnered with. I used to think the same though.

  • No..they are not the same company, actually Hyundai is WAY BIGGER THAN MITSUBISHI IN ALL THE BUSINESS THEY RUN. Their direct partner in car production is Kia. FYI, Hyundai was the engine designer for the Mitsubishi Evo X, oh yes!. Hyundai has partnership with many car makers in US and Europe to develop engines and new technologies. Hyundai is the

6th major car maker in the world and getting better, I'm sure it is not because is shit like many of you keep on saying. BTW, The Genesis is so COOL!

  • Oh, okay. That satifies my curiosity. I never said that the Genesis was crap. I think it's the most awesomest thing Hyundai has done since the Sonata in 2006. I got to drive the Genesis as a matter of fact at the Motor Trend auto show a few weeks ago and I loved it! The lexicon audio system was more than I expected and it was so clear, I didn't need to turn it up. I just know the coupe version will be just as good or even better than the sedan.

  • Did you know that you are a stupid ASS HAIR:/

  • Haha i get to ride this thing before all u guyz my dad's the GM of hyundai so ya. and did u guyz no it has a stereo system that can only be found in a Rolse-Royce

  • true!!

  • even if the car is amazing, that doesn't matter... people buy luxury cars for status symbol ... HYUDAI is for poor people so this idea will never work! JUST like the $100k VW PHAETON. That was rated as an amazing car on TOPGEAR in UK

  • cars for poor people wt*???

remember the luxury cars you are refering to and hyundai may compete against such as Lexus won't exist if the parent companies ie Toyota in that case didnt have cheap cars to flood the market ...BTW yes Hyundai will never have the same level as a Lexus or BMW, but they sure as hell would give em good competition ... that would be in number of sales. haha i would buy the genesis just to smoke your beemer or wht ever u drive lol ... just look @ how far Nissan has come

  • Never say never, Hyundai has shocked many. Mercedes is now wanting to know some of Hyundai's technology. As far as BMW goes, their 7 series(although I love) have been attacked with the lemon law by some customers.

  • Doubt, poor people could afford a 43k+ car...

  • to viclam's statement about the hyundai genesis being 'just like the $100K vw phaeton'...WRONG.

the phaeton was an EXPENSIVE car put out by vw to fight with the bmw 7 series. folks didnt see the point of spending $70,000-$80,000 on a 'bwm 7 series wanna be' when, for a mere $10,000-$15,000 more they could get a bmw?

the percentage difference between an 8 cylinder engine genesis and a similar powered lexus and german car is much greater. poor and affluent folks will buy it for value.

  • No it won't be 10-15, it will be 30-40k for similar feature. Yes the BMW is better overall, but really the cost of owning the BMW for one year will be the cost of PURCHASING the Hyundai outright. Also this is a first attempt, many more to come.

  • biscuit, i was saying that the phaeton was aboutg 10-15,000 LESS than a bmw 7 series, and that comparing the hyundai with the phaeton didnt make sense.

    hell, i was wrong. a 2004 phaeton, 8 cylinder, went for 64K and a 12 cylinder was 72K. original sticker for a 7-series bmw , 2004, was 69.3K.

damn that...why pay the same, OR MORE, for a volkwagen, when a bmw is considered a 'real' luxury car.

  • Now that was kinda ignorant. Poor people are purchasing $40,000 cars now? Whoa, I rememeber when you were poor, you were poor.

  • LOL...i was using that term incorrectly. i SHOULD have said 'regular' and 'middle class' versus 'affluent'.

    my bad.

yeah, poor is poor, but...now that i think about it, folks that really CAN'T afford $40,000 and up cars WERE purchasing them. i've seen 7 and 8 year car note plans out there. they'd buy the cars and live in them.

    sad.

  • I agree, to have a 7 or 8 year car note is a pretty good indication you shouldn't have it.

  • what poor person can afford this?

msrp is 48+ at my local dealer for the 4.6 with extras..

  • disracenboi, i don't think any 'poor' person can afford this car unless, as i said earlier, they get the 7 and 8 year plan. then they're poor AND stupid.

however, 'regular' people and middle income people CAN afford this car; and may LIKE to get this car, which features things that 'premium' brands charge thousands or even tens of thousands more.

  • I think you got me mixed up, I love this car. haha

  • I was shocked at how much my local dealership was asking for the Genesis,$40K for only the standard package options. "Luxury Sedan for just under $30k"...whatever.. I laughed and said I could never justify paying $40k for a Hyundai and told him I'd check back in a few months...when they came back to their senses.

  • Good for you. If they were asking $40k for a basic Genesis, it was incredibly marked up. Check out the Hyundai website. They start at around $32k, which makes it a very nice car for the money when you compare. ABout the price of an entry-level BMW or Mercedes or mid-level Volvo.

  • This is a case of getting *more* than what you pay for

  • You do get more car, more engine, more toys than other cars for the same price, but you have to remember that quality WILL be lower and long-term reliability most likely won't hold up as well either. You get the new car Ooh and Ahh, but 5yrs later they won't seem worth the money compared to other luxury cars of the same price.

  • You guys should have done more of a review on this car...that was too short...I think hyundais are great cars, there ALMOST the new hondas and toyotas....but they better watch there pricing as it's getting up there....

  • Hyundai's smaller cars just aren't competitively priced anymore. The Accent is only a few hundred less than the much nicer Versa. The Elantra is only a few hundred less than the Focus or Cobalt. However, their larger cars seem to be several thousand less than their competition. The Azera is thousands less than comparable BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes models as is the new Genesis. However, I guarantee you long-term quality and reliability will be much worse than those other pricey cars.

  • Nice looking car. I just wish they would have brought over the Genesis Wings logo to the U.S.

  • not really...

  • Profile maybe, being that it's a sedan, but it's much larger. Everthing else you said, like the taillight and the headlights... not at all.

  • please dont even compare a small 3 series to this. This will completly destroy it

  • haha u wish you bmw freak

  • a twin turbro BMW 335i would rape this hyundai

  • how about an Acura?

  • haha that shut his mouth

  • It should for the difference in price. Go to a BMW dealer and check the sticker on a 335 the way they have them optioned they run over $52,000 you can get a Genesis for $32K well equipped for $34K, V8 starts at $37K completely loaded at $42K. The Infinity M series is more comparable. I really just hate that BMW charges $500 for XM radio... Its standard in an ACCENT!!! BMW is gonna price themselves right out of the market.

  • I agree with that,

but I think this Hyundai could own a Chrysler 300
