You know what I love about Victor? He can sweep, this video demonstrated that, but he rarely does. I honestly didn't know he even could (I mean of course he could, he's godly!) because I don't recall EVER hearing him do it, and I like that; he's not an over flashy player, everything he plays is purely musical, it's not about showing off at all and he has such a unique way of doing just about everything that just blows my mind every time.
In Brazil, few know the Victor and the Rage. I'm sorry that there are people that are unfamiliar, it is one of the most revolutionary bands I've seen in recent times.

Weiß jemand wie er am ende auflöst? Ab 5:16 spielt er ja eine Kadenz die sich in Ddur (bzw Edur, er ist ja nen ganzton runtergestimmt) auflösen könnte, stammend aus Mixolydisch b13. Und ab 5:29 spielt er ja umkehrung, geht er dann Chromatisch in den Eb Dur rein, um dannach ins D aufzulösen?... kennt da jemand den zusammenhang? Wäre kuhl, weil ich finde das, dass so goil klingt wie er ers in den Eb dur geht und dann wunderbar im Ddur auflöst... Smolskie ist einfach die macht :P
Mhhh - Zusammenhang gibt es manchmal nicht von der Theorie her. ;/ Manchmal ist's einfach 'n Phänomen. Bestimmte Wendungen, bestimmte Intervalle über Akkorde.
Bis auf die Tatsache, dass in es in Harmonisch Moll, D die V. und Eb die VI Stufe wäre, (wie soll im übrigen D die IV und Eb die III sein, wenn doch Eb nen halbtonschritt weiter liegt?) alles soweit klar. Aber es klingt nicht nach Harmonisch Moll. Denn wenn das D die Dominante sei, dann würde es sich ja eigentlich in Gmoll auflösen, was die Tonika ja dann wäre. Aber es löst sich ja perfekt in

Just because hes got speed doesn't necessarily mean hes "THE BEST" If Jason Becker could still wank his wienkie he could pwn this guy, Becker had style, this guy only comes with speed, I won't lie. He put on an impressive sweep, But he's only, Gee, Herm THe thousandth guy to do so!
man you have no clue. Smolski isnt about speed, his technique is great, he has some cool ideas and I can always tell its him playing..meaning he has his own style. Cooley and all those other beasts just wank over a guitar for 2 minutes, boredom

Wow. Victor Smolski is one of the best guitarplayers I have EVER heard. But I haven't heard that much from his work tough... But he's fucking insane with his shredding, plus all that bluesy pentatonic stuff he uses, it simply blew me away!!
He probably is happy with the fame he's got. And by the way he's well-known in the world of classical music, and not just because of his father. Just research his name, it's pretty interesting.
It's a custom Siggi Braun guitar... some fancy design, features an interrupt button, a Dimarzio Norton pickup at the bridge and a Dimarzio Evolution at the neck. Hell, that's pretty much all I know =) Oh, and one will have to shell out around 4k in euros to get this eye candy.
I saw him in Bochum on a GuitarWorkshop and his tone was just amazing! He uses the engl invader (no, he uses 2 of them) and until this day I also want to have one. Just because of his almost perfect tone on this day.
damals, also zu soundchaser-zeiten (ergo auch als diese DVD aufgenommen wurde) hat er aber noch den powerball gespielt. hatte bzw. habe bei ihm in unregelmäßigen stunden unterricht, ich weiß es aus erster hand ;)
back then, while recording soundchaser (and also on this DVD), he plays a powerball. i've taken (and i'm still taking) a couple of lessons from him, so i know it directly from the horses mouth.

I just have to say this... His tone is about as sterile as it gets. sure he is a great player but this sounds horrid tone wise

I saw him in Bochum on a GuitarWorkshop and his tone was just amazing! He uses the engl invader (no, he uses 2 of them) and until this day I also want to have one. Just because of his almost perfect tone on this day.

damals, also zu soundchaser-zeiten (ergo auch als diese DVD aufgenommen wurde) hat er aber noch den powerball gespielt. hatte bzw. habe bei ihm in unregelmäßigen stunden unterricht, ich weiß es aus erster hand ;)
back then, while recording soundchaser (and also on this DVD), he plays a powerball. i've taken (and i'm still taking) a couple of lessons from him, so i know it directly from the horses mouth.

kannst du ganz einfach rausfinden indem du meinen channel anklickst. ist allerdings "ansichtssache" ob man das spielen nennen kann oder nicht, mir jedenfalls macht es spaß.

just coz he does not play as slow as clapton (for example) does not mean he lacks feel.
yeah sure most of tis is speed...but thats the whole point of a guitar solo like this...to show off.

It's a german custom guitar, Siggi Braun. Victor Smolski has his own signature guitar.
Very cool guitar. Equipped with DiMarzio Norton in bridge and DiMarzio Evolution Neck in neck.
He do never use Caparison, but he has Yamaha guitars, but it's not a yamaha in this video - a Siggi Braun as I said. ;)

hehe your all wrong!! its a siggi braun guitar!! victor has his own signatur! he is also playing a yamaha. for example when he plays great old ones or paint the devil on the wall. he said his yamaha has the best sound for this songs when i met him in frankfurt.

yep, a Yamaha RGX421, when I remember right... got the same one xD (allthough it doesn't make me play even near as good as he does)
