I don't know if you have it yet, but there's a sleight that singles out an enemy, then uses cross-slash. You need a Stop card and 2 Cloud cards I believe.

Well, according to 358, the Keyblade isn't the only thing that can kill Heartless, it's just the only thing that can release their hearts and prevent them from returning.

Is physical contact necessary? (I can't keep up with Kingdom Hearts, so...) That is, considering all the magic you end up getting in each game; defeating Heartless with that, instead of by bashing them with the Keyblade, won't be able to release their hearts? Even Sora's magic?

Well, I guess that could do it too, but in the games they only say that the keyblade can do it. in a Kh358 cutscene, one of the Organization members states that although they can defeat the Heartless, they cannot collect the hearts that they stole. Only Roxas (and later, Xion) can do this because they have the Keyblade.
