toshiba l305d, same problem, after logo , and a cursor then went totally blank , already tried to desolder the bios batter, didn't work, finally, went to toshiba site, downloaded the lasted bios file specially for my laptop, copy to the root of usb flash drive , press Fn+f, wait for the computer to turn off and reboot , sweet, fix it ........ anyway, thank u for your advice!!!! two thumbs up ...

Hold down the Fn button(bottom left hand corner?) and F5 button for 10 seconds together while running the computer, then take out the battery with the ac power unplugged(while the computer is still running), then wait for a minimum of 3 minutes, then put the battery back in and try it.

@SM97MIAH when it says starting windows, turn off the laptop. Turn it back on and launch start up repair and follow what it says on screen. Worked for me

@SamoanBugs lift or push out slightly the brown retainers. slide the cables in than slide or push down the retainer to lock the cable it.

Is there a place where i could get mine fixed? I really miss my laptop lol. I'm using my aunts laptop and it turns off when ever it wants to. And it's very annoying and aggravating.

@mookiesmith18 lappys that turn off during use are probably overheating or have a fault, use a vaccum cleaner and suck clean the air vents undernieth.

as for the dead one, a computer shop that knows what they are doing may be able to help. however if it has an nvidia 8 series graphics chip it may be un-repairable.

@voltare2amstereo just remove the ram, lol you didnt need to do all that! xD maybe the ram is corrupted or losen that may be the problem... but not needed to remove the keyboard...

@xXxDeejayIonxXx No mate, the unit went back with the customer with exactly the same memory and hard drive that it came in with. any removable item was removed during early testing. memory, hdd, dvd drive, even the monitor (using external display).

without resetting the bios, nothing was going to make it go again.

what if you can get to the bios battery without removing thing?

@Trupmp513 if you can access bios then you can try clearing settings - restore defaults - but chances are if you can access bios, its a different fault.

no, you have to undo the battery. there is no other way know of.. its not an OS fault cause it still wont start with the hdd out

@voltare2amstereo I dropped mine twice but on accident. Then it starts up and says " Loading files or windows" Then says starting windows and then does that for about a minute. Then the screen goes black and then turns off by itself. Is that what this problem is. And if it is. Is there a simplier way to fix it. Please answer/

Is there a simpler way to do this. I have the black screen, white cursor blinking. Last thing I remembered seeing before computer started doing this was a corrupt files message. I tried holding '0' down at the beginning of startup and tapping '0' to get it to reboot. No dice. I can't find recovery discs. I had a comp sci major tell me a virus probably ate my operating system and that's why it won't go into safe mode or reboot with '0'. What can I do to recover system?
