  • As long as they are happy who cares. Live & let live.

  • David is right, its none of their business. Its amazing to me that the Republicans keep on harping on getting government out of our lives, yet they have no problem telling us who we can marry. I am a straight male and I could care less if a man marries a woman, a man marries a man or a woman marries a woman, as long as they are adults it does not effect my life.

  • Who the fuck is someone to tell me what to or not to do unless it effects them directly...Prop 8 makes me so so mad and defines why democracy is bullshit.

  • @bhriguaneja I'm straight btw

  • I'm religious, I'm gay, and my church welcomes me and would happily marry me if my state would allow it.

  • We have a separation of Church and State. So that should cut all the religion arguments out. Gays should be allowed Civil Unions/Marriage in all 50 states. Gay couples who would be married if they could be don't get the tax breaks, they don't have any legal right to make decisions for their partner in an emergency... So lets say Bob and Ted have lived together 15 years and Ted gets in a car crash. Bob has no legal base to make sure Ted's wishes are listened to. A Doctor can have Bob removed.

  • @TriumphT140 To finish that thought for many of us its not about the rings or the ceremony. Its about the same legal rights that straight couples are entitled to. "Liberty and Justice for All" Except the gays. People can legally call me an abomination - I don't care, maybe I am in the eyes of God. But the Church legally doesn't make decisions in this country, my being an abomination (which I'm not) isn't a recognizable argument against Gays having the right to legally have a civil union.

  • @TriumphT140 Your constitution says there's a separation of church and state, but there is clearly no separation of politics and religion in your country. Your candidates fall over each other trying to out-church each other. In practice, your country doesn't do enough to separate church and state. People are free to believe in whatever they want, but they don't have the right to use it as a basis for national public policy.

  • @Kaalec It depends where you live in the country. Iowa, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts all allow gays to get married. The issue with the separation is more of a people issue. We have a ton of religious folks who have their religious values. They vote accordingly. You end up with leaders in the government who can't separate their value system from human rights. Things are changing slowly. There are a lot more relaxed people in my generation than my father's. Ten years should do it.

  • Bravo.

  • With you all the way David! <3

  • Let's see how long that lasts. It's not like marriage is anything in life to aspire to. It's absolutely an overrated experience, and I'm certain divorce will be as high, if not higher rated, with gays as it is with hetero's.

  • Rock on, David! You and Brian deserve to be happy together ... AND married!

  • How can two men do this? Don't you get tires of the same old aashole?

  • Comment removed

  • Pierce is right about this i think.

  • This should never have been up for discussion in the first place.

You love someone, you marry them, in whatever way you see fit - if you want a secular ceremony, have it. If you want a religious ceremony, go ahead.

    It's nobody else's business.

  • @cookieflower if your religion permits it. if it doesn't change religions don't try and force a change on others beliefs. that works both ways a peson shouldn't force thier religous views on homosexuality on others.

personaly I go with the whatever aproach. so he's gay big deal it has no effect on how funny he was on fraiser. and the whole marriage thing I don't know why homosexuals should have an excuse not to and the rest of us have to live in that hell.

if my wife sees this I am so dead

  • @mustangsthree How they worship is nowt to do with how you worship. If they believe in God (whatever form that takes), they should marry under God.

  • @cookieflower So my religion should change its rules to suit them? is that what your saying? we can't force religions to change then you have no fredom of religion the state has dictated a belief.

again if they find a church that permits it I have no problem and for a civil marriage it is none of my busines, if I had to vote I would for their being allowed to marry. I want it understood I'm not against their being married If fred and tim next door get married they still come to the BBQ.

  • @mustangsthree Freedom of religion, right. Anyone should be allowed to marry under whatever god they believe in.

  • @cookieflower what if my religion says its wrong? and does not permit it? should we be forced to allow a gay marriage in our church? if you reply yes then you have given the state controll over my religion. so there is no longer freedom of religon. then they can start deciding on other beliefs we are allowed to have.

you have the freedom to choose a religon. you even have the freedom to ask for change in the religon but as soon as you MAKE them do something there is no freedom.

  • @mustangsthree I'll just say that I felt sickened and disbelieving when I heard prop 8 passed. You took their away their liberty, congratulations. Stop feeling "forced"

  • @cookieflower Ok I am not being forced. I am canadian and proud to say we have same sex marriage here. however none of that has a bearing on religous freedom. my religon my rules. you don't like my religon you have the freedom to not join. I should clarify that I am not saying what religeous beliefs are right or wrong just that forcing a religon to do something infringes on their rights the same as the government saying a gay couple can not be married.

    sorry about prop 8.

  • DHP totally underestimates his romantic lead potential, though he is a bit old now.

  • No comment other than David is perfectly correct. Love is love!!

  • A-MEN Pierce......... A-MEN!!!

  • That is rediculous that people have to worry about weather or not their marrige recognised. It's revolting and people should not get to vote on people's rights as people. I am greatful for living in Canada where people do have rights.

  • @matcoolguy you think you have rights? wait till you get arrested for something. in the states you have a right to a lawyer during questioning. in canada you don't.

  • Omg i never realised he's gay! Not that there's anything wrong with that. I guess it's cos i always watch frasier on comedy central and i absolutely love the storyline of Niles and Daphne <3

    You go David!

  • I think that as long as they not get married in the church so is it okey. It's againt the words of the bible to unite samesex-couples in to marriage. But if they have a non religious cermony I don't have anything against it.

  • @AIKsupporter That seems perfectly fair. I have tons of respect for the traditions and rules of the various religions. I would never ask, say, a priest or a rabbi to bless my marriage to another woman. It's against their religion and that's fine. All I ask is that their religious beliefs aren't in control of my civil, legal, totally non-religious rights. Tolerance and fair treatment, that's all we ask.

  • This is a shock to me i've been into watching frasier so much Niles is my favorite actor in the show... i had no idea he is gay.... Hmmmmm he still is a great commedian...

  • I respect him so much. Such an awesome guy

  • He is IDENTICAL to Gord Downie in this interview

  • the more I see him and see interviews of him ... the more I respect him .

  • @berserker20008 wow someone's homophobic...do u have some "repressed" feelings

  • How in the world is marriage abuse on children? ANY marriage??? It teaches kids that it's okay to be who they are, rather than having to hide. More gay teens commit suicide than any other because their despair is so deep. Is it worth that, just so people don't have to be uncomfortable with same sex marriage?

  • I find it interesting that people think that just because someone is gay, that means they're going to molest children. Personally a gay person has never hurt me, but I was molested for year as a child by more than one straight man, and I 've been raped as an adult by straight men. Gay people pose no threat as far as I'm concerned. I applaud DHP for keeping his private life private and for being with the person he loves, no matter what bigots believe.

  • @mysterious1961 I mean to say "for years" not "for year"

  • @mysterious1961 Good show. Did you know that statistacally, 97 percent of molestation is done by heterosexuals and less than one percent is done by gays. This is a statistical fact. Of course any kind of molestation should be condemned regardless of sexuality.

  • @exxxcccited that would be usefull statistic if you included the percentage of the population that is gay. its roughly 4% depending on whitch poll you want to believe some say as high as 10%. if there were equal number of gays as hetro then it would be a scary thing. however since it is only a small percentage of the population it will acount for only a small percentage of the mollestings. your math only adds up to 98%. either way most people realize sexual orientation has nothing to do with it

  • and monogamy has always been the best way, so i agree. just let people marry who they want and everyone stop being butt hurt because you don't have enough awesome to find someone. chances are the problem is you, not anyone else if you're single -____-

  • @SpankbankINC How 'bout this, support marriage for all! Marriage brings stability and an end to promiscuity. Wouldn't that be a great ALTERNATIVE lifestyle for many homosexuals! Just Allow them to create a home, we all need one. Why are only staright people allowed "homes"?

  • @jehovasha i dont care what they do as long as they don't put me paying the bill for their aids treatment. 1 in 5 homosexuals have aids. It cost 100 grand a year to treat one aids patient. Also as long as they don't adopt kids im happy. Kids deserve a gender diverse home for phsycological balance. If those two are on the table then these perverts can do whatever they want.

  • @SpankbankINC Honestly I agree with you on most of your points. The only way to stop STDs is to be monogomous. We need to encourage this not discourage it! Most people think sex is a sport when in fact it is an act of creation. Just look around at thie world sex as sport has created!

  • I am so bummed that David Hyde Pierce is gay:- (

My dreams are crushed! He is so hotttttttttttttt

  • Hell yeah david!! It is none of their business! He is so awesome!!!

  • I can't believe I fancied him & had no notion he was gay.

  • @abcjbc lol that's the thing, and he still is really cute so why don't ya :)

  • he is just a class act

  • What he says is so true. I think he is amazing. He is one of the best actors of his generation.

  • good on him ive always liked david hyde pierce hes a great actor

  • don't get mad at my comment gay people, i'm not against you, i'm simply just giving an opinion based on conspiracy.

  • can you imagine the outrage if they did discover that scientifically being Gay is an absolute choice and no one is born with it ? there's no question that the gay community will lash out amongst the scientists and start wanting more evidence so either way scientific proof won't do a damn thing. i believe that they have already discovered that it's a choice, but they just won't exploit it. this is just my take on the issue. honestly though i don't think our country gives a shit.

  • @amensandomens Why do you believe that that has been discovered? Based on what evidence? And do you honestly think that a country as homophobic as the United States would cover something like that up? Or that anyone would choose to be gay, given how hostile the world still is towards homosexuals?

  • @amensandomens And the word 'conspiricy' makes your opinion worth less than nothing.

  • Just how "advanced" and "civilized" do you think a country is where THE GOVERNMENT decides who gets married and what is and is not a religion?! Would you trust the government to know the difference between a religion and a scam (as if there even is a difference)? Why should your Congressman have an opinion on who can get married, as long as the people involved are citizens?

  • I love to listen to him. He's so eloquent, and despite obvious amount of anger he makes valid arguments. It's always nice to listen to people presenting their point of view in that way, instead of just shouting that they're right and we're wrong. Sth the president of my country should learn from DHP.

  • I love how eloquent and concise his thoughts are on the matter. Me, I don't consider myself to be a proponent of homosexuality, but it is refreshing to see someone like David Hyde Pierce be so cordial instead of totally bashing the opposite like other folks do. I sincerely wish him and all the LGBT folks out there happiness and love.

  • I can't beleive after 25years together they dont' have the right to be married... it's insanity. David is absoultely right...and I agree completely about a person's choice wether or not you talk about anything about yourself is totally your business.

  • David Hyde Pierce is absolutely right. I really feel terrible that some people are denied the right to marry the one they love. It's annoying that people with no experience as a homosexual man or woman feel that they have the correct understanding personally to oppose it. It's like they think that allowing it will make them gay or lesbian. I'm sure it will not negatively effect anyone expect those who can't stand the happiness of others.

  • @s004237 You could make the same weak arguments about incest, beastility, and polygamy. Why are you against gender diversity in the home?

  • @s004237 you know the funny thing is that straight or gay people give you shit about being married. we're a straight married couple and everyone tries to split us up but that is allowed because it's military and no one rightly gives a shit. we've been given a hard time for years over our marriage for no reason other than people are jealous.

i think the same thing applies to gay marriage. i don't thing it is only a religious matter, but that everyone hates to see others happy because they arent

  • @DrunkenPiano I agree. I can't even tell you how many times people have tried to break up my marriage as well. i've even had women tell me that they're going to "steal"my husband away from me, and then they flirt openly in front of me to prove their point. I just figure "go ahead and try, it won't work."

  • his hair is receding just like frasier aka kelsey grammar heh

  • Science has proven that homosexuality is not a choice, but a behavior that is exhibited throughout other animal species. Also, our government is founded on the principle of equal rights, and a democratic vote where the rights of the minority are ignored does not speak true to equality. Finally, other historical practices such as slavery were once sanctioned by the majority and by almost all of the religious organizations of their time, but no one would today call them just.

  • @pearlsamongtheswine8 unfortunately, science has not "proven" on way or another. There have been scientific behavioral studies done that demonstrate aspects that are symptomatic of both nature and nurture. A scientific breakthrough of "proof" would have ended the debate period. You must remember there are only a handful of scientific truths, the rest are theories.

  • u mean u r one of the wonderful str8 people ? since 90% of child molesters are str8.. as everyone knows u as a str8 person never abuse anyone not ur kids or ur wives.. u never start wars for oil or do all those nasty kinky things we see everyday on tv or the movies ?? can I vote u into a concentration camp since u as a str8 person are definitely a danger to society.. we can take a vote on it tomorrow..good luck

  • oh.. I see u do protest to much.. what a boring life u live if u have to worry about everyone else's lives and how holy u r to cast the first stone.. as well as being ignorant of reality

  • Wow! Where exactly is this proof to back up your offensive and bigoted accusations? How can any rational person listen to an educated, logical and humane spokesman like DHP and then bandy about words such as 'deviance', 'molest' and 'abuse' without accepting that they are more applicable to heterosexual males?

I'm glad democracy in most of the rest of the Western world is more enlightened than that practiced and preached by religious bigots like cjeb2003 in the US.

  • How Exactly do they "victimize young children" ??

  • oooh, with your comment I can see that there are really brainless people in the world

  • Very true. It is seriously none of the governments business.

  • Inspiring.
