Clogging was called this because the queen of England, when visiting America in the early 1900's said, why we do something similar in England with clogs and coined the term "clogging"...that's the story I heard. This is amazing, very well exectued! txs.
Loved this, how talented are those dancers !!!! I live in Wales and we have Welsh clogging, and across the water is Irish clog dancing and then American clogging. They are all different styles but fantastic to watch, thanks so much.
No, this is clog dancing, not tap dancing. It's just a type of clogging that's different from the one that you know about.
The word "clogging" comes from the fact that originally all of the dances referred to as "clog dances" were danced in clogs. It was only when these dances travelled to America that they evolved into new forms that were still called "clogging" but were not performed in clogs.
Both the dancing in the above video and the dancing of the Bayshore Cloggers have roots in original European clog dancing; they have evolved in different directions from the same source. They are both clog.
awesome I loved it 5555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555. more please against a blue screen, gee what I could do with this footage and a bue screen
I note several comments in the style, "I only know about one kind of clog dancing, and this isn't it." I'm sorry if the title led you to broaden your horizons uncomfortably. Like it or don't, I don't care; but why not learn what we can from other traditions?
that is more like beginning tap dancing, "REAL" clogging is done in Hillbilly mountains shoes without cleats/taps on the bottom of the shoes. I can clog, and that just is not it at all.
There is no "real" clogging - there are many different types of clog dancing. And some of them are actually danced in clogs.
I find it funny that you say that "real" clogging is danced in mountain shoes. Where do you think the term "clogging" came from in the first place? Is clog dancing performed in clogs not real clogging either?
Am I wanting to cause trouble and problems? YOU'RE the one who just called me a dumb dirt pile. Clog dancing in general did not originate in the hills of WV, although a certain style of it evolved there. That's what I want to get across; it's not like I'm just trying to annoy people for the sake of it.
clog? i thought this is tap!

The unison was very impressive - esp since there was no music as a guide. Fun to watch!

As North America is an amalgamation of cultures, I would think that clog dancing has evolved in the same way - it's wonderful anyway!
