Our first Boxer girl jumped out of the sun roof of the car.Lucky it was parked at the time! She also jumped out of our bedroom window into the back garden. Thank Christ we lived in a bungalow. I'm sure it was because we watched 'The Great Escape' every Christmas!!
It's funny you use Houdini because my Boxer, Mandie we like to call Mandini. She once escaped from a 4x4 cage with no apparent damage to the cage. When we came home she was greeting us at the front door. The cage was completely intact. It was closed and latched. She must have squeezed thru fast because the metal wasn't bent.
It's funny you say this because or boxer did the exact same thing! At first, we were convinced someone had been in our house, let him out and latched it again. There was zero evidence.
That's boxers for you, very clever dogs. If you look at Amadeo on the Phoenix Boxer Luv webpage, there's a video of one getting a basketball out of a swimming pool, that is very clever. Boxers are very loyal to their families, I've frequently told my wife that if ours thought we were in danger, they'd find a way to scale our 8 ft cinder block wall.
OMG I love it... When I brought my boxer home she was 3 months old. The 1st few month we put her in the laundry room while we where at work. Yaaa that didn't work.. She could clear 2 baby gates stacked on top of each other.
Cute! I actually have a Boxer named Houdini! He was an escape artist as a puppy. Only indoors, though. It was practically impossible to keep him in or out of a room. However, outdoors, my fence is less than 5 feet in some areas and none of my four Boxers ever jump over it. I guess they are happy with their home life! (?). I read the info that your dog doesn't run away, so I am not implying that she is unhappy. I'm just surprised that mine don't jump, since I know they are capable. Great video!
LMAO OMG That dog is exactly like my dog.. We call her houdini as we spent £3000 on new fencing and she jumps onto our caravan climbs the roof and then jumps the fence shes so clever but weve moved the caravan as shes a danger to her self aha cool dog
my sable/red feamle german shepherd does the same thing when she try to get out from the back yard. and shes the smaller type of gsd, about 48 + pounds not over 50. nice boxer
oh my god! where did he go? why does he have to do this? maybe he is bored and not getting enough exercise,is this a small yard? maybe he stays all day long by himself in the back yard and wants your company or another dog's company? I have 2 boxers and they don't do that.I love mine a looooot!!!
This is the fence to our frontyard. She just waited for us on the other side. We hid a camera in the house, pointing at the most likely escape route, to find out how she was getting out. She had eluded us for days!

Boxers are known to jump fences; they are indoor dogs and prefer to be inside with their family.

Our frontyard is on the other side. She just waited for us there.
We don't think she was bored: our backyard is pretty large, and she has a Golden Retriever to play with.
However, she is a rescue; we got her out of deathrow. She was so sick and malnourished! I guess she had abandonment issues.
It's been a few months now and she doesn't do it anymore... Good!
