Just for the record, in the movie Avatar, the hot-shot scientist guy that funds the invasion of this planet does say that the Na'vi (Is that how you spell it? Fuck it, I don't care.) are sitting on a massive deposit of some fake element of Ununillium. Now in the movie, he says that 1 gram of Ununillium goes for I think 3 Mil on the market, so that's probably the best reason that anyone is going to find as to why they're invading this planet.
I'm not a natural born English speaker,so, if I make some mistake here, fuck it!
Prince of Persia. Whoever I've talked about this movie seems to love it but I can't stand! I just think "Oh my God, they turned one of the best characters from the videogames into a playboy Van Helsing!"
I NEVER cared for Moulin Rouge either. Went to see it @ a drive-in when it first came out. Wasn't interested and fell asleep. Them also doing TERRIBLE versions of hit singles that I love was a MAJOR turn off for me. And after seeing the NC's review of this film it just proved his point on what a truly horrible film Moulin Rouge truly is. The ONLY good thing to come from this movie was the remake of Lady Marmalade. Now that is a great song and still love it to this day. Other than that, it's crap
D9 was good because you could empathize with the main cast and even though the story is like avatar the main character is not betraying his race for lobster pussy but because they no longer recognize him as human plus the prawns don't even care until he looks more like them and the prawn are flawed and without blame since sort of let themselves be exploited
@TheMagicalRapist Yeah! I didn't liked Matilda when I was little too! I want to hear his review of it! He should make it, and the douches who lovie it have JUST to don't watch the review. As simple is that! Doug have all the right to say his opinion!
@Iceburner96 No it's not on youtube in the list of videos. I checked. I was told that it should be up later in March or early April. So, whatever. I'll just wait.
Wait in district 9 they did study the aliens. Wasn't that the whole reason they locked them up and prevented them from leaving? They wanted to know how their guns worked right?
I like signs, but not in a "it´s a damn great movie!" way. It´s a somewhat funny, I like phoenixs´ acting with the akward scenes and perhaps it´s just smth that I could watch after a very dull day? I grew up watching X-files so the alien part didn´t hook me in one bit. Actually I think I might have liked the movie better without the ufo stuff? Anyone else feel the same way?
The reason why Matilda is a bit cruel is because of the writer, Roald Dahl, who experienced firsthand the educative methods of English schools in the early 20th century. Check out his autobiography, you'll understand. At one point, a teacher beats him so hard with a cane, that his ass is completely red and purple afterwards. Maybe he thinks about his past experiences when he writes stories with children as main characters.
The movies I hate but everyone else loves: KARATE KID. Oh my God, I hate those movies with all my fucking heart (that includes the new one. WHY, WILL SMITH? WHY? HOW COULD YOU?!)
Reason: it's cruel, it's just showing a kid being tortured and villians not being punished like they deserved, like Passion of Christ, but worse.
P.S: I'm not saying Passion of Christ is a bad movie.
Too be honest, I've always hated Close Encounters with the Third Kind. I don't see what's so magical about that movie. It's alright at best, but, its supposed to be a really great movie.
Top movies I hate that everyone else loves: Rocky, The Birth of a Nation, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Sideways, There's Something About Mary, DumbLand, the Next Voice You Hear..., What's Up, Tiger Lily?, Top Gun, Total Recall, Look Who's Talking, Halloween, Whale Rider, The First Wives Club, Ice Age, From Dusk Till Dawn, Highlander, Team America: World Police, Nineteen Eighty-Four, Les Diaboliques, Film Geek, Julien Donkey-Boy, Somewhere in Time, Napoleon Dynamite, X-Men
@pacman5698 I've heard a lot of people defend this film and bring up the Woodrow Wilson quote, "history written with lightning." and these are people who otherwise do not seem to be racists.
@scottandrewhutchins Well the parts that describe the Civil War, and analyze the characters for the most part is good film making by Griffith, than when it attacks African Americans, it becomes a pile of racist trash.
@scottandrewhutchins I found Team America was funny (never watched it in VO though, so maybe that's why), but... Highlander? You mean actual people exist out there, who love THIS? At least Monster's Ball had one redeeming feature: Halle Berry in a steaming hot sex scene^^.
@lj758794 Highlander has a huge cult following. It's Highlander 2 that most people hate. The Indianapolis Star's TV listings always gave the first only one star, though.
@scottandrewhutchins I personally hated the Ice Age sequels more than the original, which I thought was pretty damn generic. The rest of it, either I've never seen, or was okay with.
I enjoyed the documentary parts of District 9 but after that I wasn't too into it. I'm so glad Avatar was on that list, I seriously felt like I was the only one who felt that movie was bullshit.

If anything, Zidler should have turned the Moulin Rouge into a theatre himself, it's not like they didn't have enough money. Men were literally throwing jewels at them every night.
I love Critic and I love Moulin Rouge :S Dilemma much...
Ooh btw, there's just one thing he said that I want to disagree with. I think it was fair enough for Nicole Kidman's character to want to be "A real actress" as sure, she was getting lots of attention, but people were not taking her seriously for her talents, it was purely for sex appeal which can be degrading. I want to be an actor myself but I am always type cast as the comic relief, so I can relate to her feelings...
@ThomasVeggieDramaFan I never saw LOTR, but tried reading the books once. Couldn't get far into the Hobbit before returning it to the school library. Just got bored. Watched 2 of the Harry Potter movies and read the first book in grade school. Never became a big fan, but understand why some people might like it. Just doesn't do much for me.
I don't like "The Division Bell" by Pink Floyd and Simon & Garfunkel's "Concert in Central Park" very much.
Everybody else say "How can you not like 'em? They are beautiful!".
Well yeah, they are beautiful. But like Doug says, that doesn't mean they're good. I think "Central Park" is okay, but if you know that they're struggling not to fight each other during the entire concert, the whole experience is ruined for me. Other than that, it's good.
in district 9 the aliens came to earth because they were starving, which probably means that their planets resources had been depleted. I really like District 9 but i agree there was a lot that wasn't explained
nice fun fact, peter jackson abandoned the halo movie project to make district 9.......i feel so ripped off, especially because i agree with the critic and i hate district 9.
I know how it feels, Doug. I can't stand Pirates of the Carribean yet everyone seems to think it's the best movie made in recent times. I just don't see it.
movies I find very overrated are The Passion of the Christ (i'm a follower of Jesus, but a 2 hour film bout our savior being scourged, mocked, and crucified is just unforgivable), The Simpsons Movie, Ang Lee's Hulk (even though most people are rather 50/50 over it), and Michael Bay's Transformers.
@scottski02 That's cool if you think differently, but I didn't find the film to be funny, Homer seemed like a bigger douche than he was in the show, plus, the villain sucked, and the plot is basically a rehash of older episodes, and I am a huge fan of The Simpsons (at least the first 10-15 seasons), though I will admit, the movie does have great voice acting and animation.
oh god thank you for mentioning GLADIATOR! I dislike the fact that it gets so much praise from about everyone almost as much as i dislike the movie itself.
I like Avatar, but understand why some people hate it. Its basically Pocohantas with catpeople. When I think of it I remember the action, but not the storyXD ANother movie I REALLY hated that everyone loves and gave me slack for hating was Tropic Thunder. I tried watching that movie twice (once with my mom) and still couldn't get into it. My mom actually fell asleep watching it. I laughed once and that was it. The fact that I've had people get butthurt when I say it makes me hate it more.
I hated The first Howling movie (Found it boring until the end), but its a movie everyone loves and call the best werewolf movie (I still think that title goes to AWIL). I also hated the Salems Lot (The book. Not the movie), but everyone thinks its Kings best novel. I thought the Hangover was fun, but its far from my favorite comedy. I barely remember anything from American Pie. I love Cars, but I did not expect a sequal to that movieXD I don't know why it even warrents a sequal.
i like cars the animation, avatar took impacted as a native american, and looking at area 51,the goverment of military in certent countrys and dark underground life styles in realty distric 9 was a part of humans examples, but he has his reason and i cant hate him for his point of veiws.least he has his points
i agree with disctrict 9's second place, but i don't agree with your opinion at all. because no, it's NOT about prejudice or racism!!!! it's just a mediocre action flick and NOTHING ELSE. the movie - at least in the beginning - tries to imitate that it's a serious movie with message but it's just... not. boom-boom, crash, bang - and that's it.
I saw Matilda a few years ago. This movie is just stupidly silly. I mean, there are SO many plot holes, I actually never bothered to finish it because of how ridiculously random it is. I mean, it seems like it could be a good movie, but it has Multiple Personality Disorder; it's trying to be dark, but then it's trying to be goofy, then it's trying to be funny, then it's trying to be dramatic, then it's trying to be random...I'm completely lost as to why everyone likes it.
I hate Cars too, to be honest...Oh, and guess what. They're making a new movie called Planes. Seriously, go look it up. They are going to milk this whole, "vehicles are people" thing to the bone. What's next, "Boats"?
Cars was Pixar's least profitable film in the box-office and my least favourite of their movies, so it was very odd for them to make that their first non-Toy Story sequel.
For the most-part I agree with his list with the exception of District 9.
District 9, Pretty good, but we can communicate with them; we understand them by there clicking. Avatar, I loved this Movie! The casting was good, the story was awsome. I would put Avatar in my Top 5 favorite Movies, even at #1 possibly; but I cant decide between Avatar and Transformer 3. I also like "Neytiri". Fucking Sexy as Hell! Also the singer thats also in district 9, can get annoying at sometimes, but Im okay with it, sounds simmilar to halo's singer. Fuck anyone that Hates this movie!
Yes! Someone else who hates Avatar! I also found out that the mineral they're looking for is called unobtanium. Get it, unobtainable, unobtanium. It sucks. In fact, i'm pretty sure The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra made a joke about cheesy names like that by calling the mineral, "atmospherium". And that movie was a joke about b-movies.
To be honest I liked about half of Matilda, the first half of the film before she went to school was actually pretty well done. I think I liked Avatar mainly because I really liked the location and thought it was fairly immersive, the story wasn't that great but I did find it rather enjoyable. But for everything else, I entirely agree especially American Pie I'm glad I'm not alone on that one.
I once tried watching Cars, but god, it was just horrible, bland and boring.
At first I though it's because I'm 17 and start thinking about things like "Why this doesn't make sense?", but of course, I never though about such things when watching other Pixar movies. Not even when watching the ones which make even less sense, like Toy Story and Bug's Life.
Hell, I have enjoyed every single Pixar movie to the date, except for Cars.
I can understand why everything on the list made it... except Avatar. That just seems odd to me, but hey entertainment is subjective... but seriously, Avatar? Right, subjective, right right... still...
Cars is for kids, though, so I don't think he should be judging it this harshly, even though I agree with some of his points. I really hope avatar is on here. fuck that movie.
Avatar was extremely boring, I almost fell asleep watching it, the plot makes no sense, almost EVERYTHING is CGI, and it is just too overrated, HOW is this movie good?! It's fucking BORING!
@krycklund I didn't care for Cars... I'm afraid to watch Gladiator... didn't bother to give American Pie the time of day... Avatar was cool looking but pretty much cowboys and indians in space... what's With Honors?... didn't want to watch Signs... what's Nell?... Matilda was ok... what's District 9?... Moulin Rouge sucked hard!
Extra-terrestrials have been here all along, and continue to appear (they don't "land" big ol machines, they cross time and space - think about the distances) to those few humans with open minds.
I actually hated Matilda as a kid. I don't know why, but I hated it.

scottski02 6 days ago
@scottski02 That's cool if you think differently, but I didn't find the film to be funny, Homer seemed like a bigger douche than he was in the show, plus, the villain sucked, and the plot is basically a rehash of older episodes, and I am a huge fan of The Simpsons (at least the first 10-15 seasons), though I will admit, the movie does have great voice acting and animation.

Pooky1991 1 week ago
@Pooky1991 Agree on Tropic Thunder, bought a pre-owned DVD of it with a bunch of others and thought it was pretty damn crappy.
Toadsanime 6 days ago
Really didn't like Step Brothers; sorry everybody but John c Reilly and Will Ferrell were just so damn obnoxious throughout the whole thing
adamtherock2008 1 week ago
I hated The first Howling movie (Found it boring until the end), but its a movie everyone loves and call the best werewolf movie (I still think that title goes to AWIL). I also hated the Salems Lot (The book. Not the movie), but everyone thinks its Kings best novel. I thought the Hangover was fun, but its far from my favorite comedy. I barely remember anything from American Pie. I love Cars, but I did not expect a sequal to that movieXD I don't know why it even warrents a sequal.
Pooky1991 1 week ago
In Matilda the girl got flung because she had pigtails. The head teacher didn't like them. I really hate this film.

I can't remember much comedy in District 9...Maybe there's some sidegags, but the film really does not contain of humor....

Believe it or not...But I am the only one in my theatre class that REALLY hate Transformers 2....
MrDavidFILM 1 week ago
@Toadsanime. They made a sequel because the film made billions of dollars off of merchandising (IE: cars, playsets, Legos, etc).
Moviewhiz1 1 week ago
i agree with disctrict 9's second place, but i don't agree with your opinion at all. because no, it's NOT about prejudice or racism!!!! it's just a mediocre action flick and NOTHING ELSE. the movie - at least in the beginning - tries to imitate that it's a serious movie with message but it's just... not. boom-boom, crash, bang - and that's it.
zenmonkey666 1 week ago
I saw Matilda a few years ago. This movie is just stupidly silly. I mean, there are SO many plot holes, I actually never bothered to finish it because of how ridiculously random it is. I mean, it seems like it could be a good movie, but it has Multiple Personality Disorder; it's trying to be dark, but then it's trying to be goofy, then it's trying to be funny, then it's trying to be dramatic, then it's trying to be random...I'm completely lost as to why everyone likes it.

I have GOT to see the look on his face when somebody tells him the next Cars sequel is called Planes.
MegaShroom22 1 week ago
I hate Cars too, to be honest...Oh, and guess what. They're making a new movie called Planes. Seriously, go look it up. They are going to milk this whole, "vehicles are people" thing to the bone. What's next, "Boats"?

Cars was Pixar's least profitable film in the box-office and my least favourite of their movies, so it was very odd for them to make that their first non-Toy Story sequel.
For the most-part I agree with his list with the exception of District 9.

@Toadsanime
I hated Cars 2, the story was very stupid, if they only focused on the race insted of whole "secret agent" stuff, maybe it could have been better

So why is it I seem to agree on everything?
Arc13 1 week ago
To be honest I liked about half of Matilda, the first half of the film before she went to school was actually pretty well done. I think I liked Avatar mainly because I really liked the location and thought it was fairly immersive, the story wasn't that great but I did find it rather enjoyable. But for everything else, I entirely agree especially American Pie I'm glad I'm not alone on that one.
ThisCakeIsAPie 1 week ago
I once tried watching Cars, but god, it was just horrible, bland and boring.
At first I though it's because I'm 17 and start thinking about things like "Why this doesn't make sense?", but of course, I never though about such things when watching other Pixar movies. Not even when watching the ones which make even less sense, like Toy Story and Bug's Life.
Hell, I have enjoyed every single Pixar movie to the date, except for Cars.

Moulin Rouge sucked hard!
