I don't see why everyone is knocking the dancing; it's well done! Escpecially for someone who isn't very experianced, to be doing the aerials so well! Keep up the good work!
@BadGradeGenious Looks up how to instructional videos for "East Coast Swing" and some videos of "Lindy Hop". You'll start off learning East Coast Swing and eventually move on to Lindy Hop. :-)
@TheHoopingLeprechaun FYI, outside of the ballroom community, us swing dancers don't say "the swing". There's actually many different swing dances. What you probably learned is East Coast Swing. :-)
A very nice one. I don't dance and possess no qualifications to pass comments, but one thing is for sure, this video is fun. I really enjoyed it, and in fact it has kindled in me a desire to learn to dance. Thanks for posting.
@shadowfox1383 Why does it have to have a name? When people learn to dance, they have this obsession that something has to have a name, and it is usually pointless because even if it does have a name, it's called something else by another person.
Dude, ok. They are dancing for fun not to entertain people or to prove something. The fun is the true nature of any dancing. Passion , Love and Fun. If technic is your main point is not much different than turning a wrench.
@rtlz1985 That's not true. The main point is to have fun, but trying to figure out dancing on your own is like trying to figure out ice skating on your own. Yeah, you'll eventually get it, but a good teacher can have you up on your feet in one lesson and keep you from making a fool of yourself.
it was good :) if you want to do more in the future, just check out the Strictly Swing section of competitions. and if you compete... the first time they see you straighten your arm they wont bother to look at you again. lol but with practice, its good :) keep it up. and i think that was east coast, it was more bouncy then west coast is suppose to be. lol
@lindyhop411 Yes.. I'm aware that they come from. Lindy Hop.. as does Six Count ECS. (And WCS and Country).. But lifts are very much a part of ECS. They aren't as fluid in ECS as you'd see them used in Lindy. If used in ECS you break the dance.. .. you have to pause, count it out, and go. While in Lindy it's actually part of the pace. You might ask Sylvia Sykes or Momma Tena what their take would be in arials or lifts in ECS. I happen to teach ECS myself.
@kjean86 The addition of lifts in ECS is a fairly new addition, specifically with the resurgence of the popularity of swing dancing during the Neo-Swing era; however, this is mainly from enthusiastic novices wanting to put Lindy steps into a ballroom basic that was more common to learn. The ballroom ECS syllabus is based on the fact that Lindy Hop was viewed as an improper dance, hence no lifts.
I know Sylvia and her partner Jonathan Bixby, as well as Frankie Manning, and other famous dancers
dude this is no swing dancing, it is Hustle. There are moves from swing and salsa, but definitely Hustle. Next time try the "floor mopping" and "Eiffel Tower" moves!
Chill with the technical complaints. They represented the fun exciting nature of the swing. I've seen trophy holders who didn't represent the character of the dance this well.
ouch, my shoulder joints hurt from watching that. Army men, please stop beating on the girls.. low, quiet hands, slightly bend elbows for the rockstep stretch...
You're wrong, it is swing, maybe not dance competition level, but definitely a form of swing. And for someone inexperienced I'd say they were having fun.
I thought that you did a great job. It was a little rough starting, but the rest looked like you had been dancing together for years. Very smooth once you got going. You made it look easy which it is not....but the best part is that you made it look like fun. Thanks for sharing!
You guys are good. I would also say though, that if you enjoy east coast swing, you should try Lindyhop. if you don't like it, that's fine, but it's pretty fun I think.
dude, this is legit. you have all of the moves down solid, you could probably do this song at double speed and still have it be clean. Plus you seem to know a ton of moves.
East Coast is fun, but the only way to swing is Lindy hop. once you discover Lindy you never go back. :P
im only 14 & learning swing dancing in school wish i new how to do moves like that we are having a competition but I wish i could learn some good moves b4 I did itt could u help :S
this involves trust, and confidence. you are good for an "inexperienced" swing dancer. if you call yourself an inexperieces one in swing, then what will you call me, i only dance modern so im just dancing swing if its required and if there will be a performance. so... you are now officially one of the best inexperienced swing dancer ever..!!

This dance is silly and corny. If you really want to learn swing that is easy and
fun, learn ceroc, also known as modern jive (no not ballroom jive). Ceroc or
Modern Jive is very popular in the UK, Australia and New Zeland. For some
reason, it never caught on in the US. See danceyourselfdizzy(dot)com
