I love the music, it's beautiful. Try reading the book, 'Nothing to Envy' which gives an excellent insight into life in North Korea. Political prisoners have to live in concentration camps. There are two kinds; there are the labor camps for those who can be politically corrected, and camps for those cannot (ie. Death Camps). The former is largely reserved for family members who were incarcerated according to the 3 generations law. Their numbers are large but dont account for everyone. I love the music, it's beautiful. Try reading the book, 'Nothing to Envy' which gives an excellent insight into life in North Korea. It's very, very difficult to rebel in North Korea - such is the brutal response and of course, China doesn't want to be free, because they would flood into their country.

Political prisoners have to live in concentration camps. There are two kinds; there are the labor camps for those who can be politically corrected, and camps for those cannot (ie. Death Camps). The former is largely reserved for family members who were incarcerated according to the 3 generations law. Their numbers are large but dont account for everyone. You migth be right. Maybe! BUT is it as good as the North-Korean propaganda is trying to show us.
In 2008, 3000 N-Korean citizens managed to flee from their country. It was a very dangerous journey (Shenyang-Beijing-Kunming-Laos-Bangkok/Thailand). Many hundreds were cought on their escape and sent back to N-Korea by Chinese or Lao authorities.
If N-Korea isn't as bad as people think, they should let them leave the country without hassle.

western countries to commie countries.

There ARE some people who prefer to live in a commie countrie. But to do so, they don't need to flee secretly, being afraid to get jailed if their caught. If i would like to live my life in N-Korea, I could do so. I would not have to fear that the Swiss authorities will put me into a prison for years.
Serious question: What exactly do you miss about east germany and (especially) the berlin wall?

i had the poshest car in the hood.it had
real plastic in it!! & ran on parafin!

(smile) free milk? Great! Our farmers here get around 57 cents per litre. (approx. 0.4 Euro). But -of course- these farmers are capitalists.
I don't remember any "sexy border guards" in the GDR, but maybe you mix them up with the sexy traffic police girls in Pyongyang!

You might think that if you've never seen North Korea anywhere outside Pyongyang. It's the capital, the face that North Korea shows the world. The reports, videos and photos that are being smuggled out however show that North Korea is really best described as a Feudal Lordship with access to 20th century technology. It remains steeped in Stalinism, which is a totalitarian system of governance. Trust me, it's bad.

@ShwangShwing The highways are big to look grand and magnificent. But also, as in many other ex-communist countries, they are designed that way to allow for tanks and other equipment to move around more easily. Just in case the regime needs to crush an uprising.
