  • i lived in the Haight during this time and don't believe they named band after some leftist agenda, joe mcdonald was country Joe Melton theyt called the Fish thus the name.thats it. aand as far as coping the music,ha ha good luck, theres no way you could recreate a night with Country Joe in the Fish, shows at the Avalon ball rm filmore, or in the park were once in a life time events, same with big brother mount rushmor quicksilver and the steve Miller blues band, the Jefferson airplane, bluecheer

  • @lovesrd1122 We can dream though

  • acid soaked blues

  • BOMB IT.

    napalm

  • Wonder if Joe regrets nicknaming himself after a dictator deliberately responsible for over 20 millions Russians, and the band regret being named "the Fish" from a saying from THE most murderous dictator of the 20th Century, responsible for at least 60 millions of his own Chinese citizens? Knowing '60s Leftists like these, not fucking likely....

  • I am an INDIAN

  • Barry melton is so underrated.

  • It's funny reading the comments from the young people (I was 15 or so when this came out), it did not play on the top 40. Even Feel Like I'm Fixen To Die was played late at night on the underground stations.

  • hey bassist448. how about you suck my c&&k u little fried bean sprout. dont be such a loser. get out from ure mammys nipple and learn about the real worlf u sack of s%%t. hahahahhahahahhahahahahahahahhaa................................ i gonnna f&&k u up..

  • Our generation is only plastic and uncreative if we allow ourselves to be. This sort of music is produced in a particular mind-state that can be achieved by any willing party, its got nothing to do to do with what year it says on the calender.

  • @PedeyHooferReturns youre right definately but i think in this day and age, with all the technology, even the best bands in the world tend to over produce and over polish their music i think what makes the old music so great is that they were recorded on shitty old 8 track console so they had to be creative and more oftenm than not the greatest songs were recorded on the 1st or 2nd take. they didnt suck the life out of a song by taking weeks to record a song or turn it into a wall of noise.

  • Totally top, clean and brilliant sound.

I see many people complaining about modern music.

Today people are sitting behind the computer, so how do you think you meet other musicians. I record all my songs by myself, but it would never be as creative as with inspiration and creativity from other musicians. We are plastic ourself.

  • ,,,had my first trip to this album ,red devil strait from an eye droper ,,,it was leagle then ,,,will never forget this L P

  • Just goes to show how great they were that we're talking about how great they were 43 years after Electric Music For the Mind and Body was released.

  • Marvellous; I love CJ & TF as much as ever, maybe more now my ears are more educated.

  • superb man..... cheers thx for share with all of us

  • I'm 16 and I am so fucking tired of everyone saying we should recreate this music. I FUCKING LOVE THIS MUSIC, but we can't recreate it man. It was amazing because it was original. We just have to learn from it and incorporate it into our time. Our generation is too plastic, there isn't creativity. We need to listen and love this type of music to learn from it. But not copy it.

  • do you consider this psychedelic music

  • I didn't necesarilly mention psychedelic music. But this song in particular, I'm not sure. The guitar styling is sort of neutral between psychedelic and blues. But then again, there's not much of a difference between blues guitar and psychedelic. All in all, I would label this song blues. But the band, I would consider psychedelic.

  • @bassist448 CONGRATULATIONS

  • @bassist448 i kind of hate when people say this, because there was plenty of shallow stupid "plastic" pop music back then that people hardly remember now. and its true if you look at a lot of pop music now it's stupid but look a tiny bit harder and you find plenty of great music is being made these days.

  • I totally agree with you!! I'm 16 as well. I hate the music today. There's no thought put into these stupid songs, or soul or any story behind them. It's a shame to be living in a time like this where the music is so crappy. I feel like I'm the only one in my entire school of 2000 (besides my brother) who listens to this great music.

  • @bassist448 EXACTLY! If psychedelic comes back, we need to make it our own, but one that would also be listened to many years later. See, to me, psychedelic music is showing what our souls are dancing to and what our third eye sees, but (and I also agree with you) our generation's souls are too metronome-like, not to menton we haven't squeegeed our third eyes yet. So we have a long way to go before w can experiment again, and yet I still believe we can find our inner message...through ROCK!!!!!

  • @bassist448 I tend to agree with you, however, there is no lack of creativity in today's generation. You simply may have to look harder.

  • @bassist448 you have no idea how glad that makes me to hear that real music may have a future. keep playing dude.

  • @bassist448 right on fucking point man. I thought I was the only person my age that thought this way, made my day man

  • @bassist448 I think that there are still creative people who are willing to keep the fire of this music burn.. not too many of course.. but sometimes it's just nice to see that many get ispired songs like that one... wish were more!

  • @bassist448: While I do like what you are saying, and I agree with you to a point. You must keep in mind that if we aren't recreating psychedelic music we are either not playing any music at all or playing poor music.

  • @goldsociety Well there IS good music besides psychedelic. Like Blues, or folk even though psychedelic is pretty much a branch off of those genres. But since the time that I posted that comment I HAVE actually gotten into alot of different kinds of music. Like Punk and grunge and 90's indie and late 80's alternative. But music taste is one man's opinion I suppose.

  • @bassist448 This world is definately turning into plastic but that doesn't mean that we should stop being creative. In fact it should mean the complete opposite. If someone wants to write psychedelic rock then let them. It sounds like you're saying that we should stop being creative but the thing is that there are people who want to be creative. I wanna be an amazing blues guitarist and I'm trying to get there the best I can.

  • @Django5198 I said nothing about not being creative. I said that we shouldn't RECREATE the 60's. We should take it to hheart, and incorporate it into today's culture. Where at all did I say people shouldn't be creative?

  • @bassist448 you said that our generation is too plastic and their isn't creativity. That sounds to me like you're saying that no-one can be creative these days. I may just misunderstand the point so correct me if I'm wrong :)

  • @Django5198 I'm not saying that no one at all in this generation is creative. There are plenty of creative musicians that are making music in this generation. What I was saying is that the MAINSTREAM music is lacking creativity big time. All it is, is cheap lip syncing and drum machines.

  • @bassist448 Ok cheers man. It just sounded like that's what you meant in that first comment. But yeah man everyone should still play the blues because it's so fucking fun! And yeah we all agree. Mainstream music is stuper shit! No ambistion at all there, :)

  • @bassist448

Right on. I was 16 when this stuff was playing on my record player. . saw many of these bands live and I later played in a Bill Graham band that opened for Joplin. It was later on for me (playing guitar). Anyhow, this was an era that is hard to put into words. There was a vibe everywhere where all the young people were in the same space.

  • @bassist448 Aman

  • @bassist448 Amen Bro...well said

  • @bassist448 When I say I want to recreate this music I don't mean to say that I want to copy it. Did quicksilver messenger service copy jefferson airplane? Did the doors copy the grateful dead? No but they all had that sound you can can get lost in. Thats what I want to recreate. Music that will take us on a trip. Music that promotes love rather than money sex and violence. I love the psychedelic sound. For a band to copy another band is not creative. What I'm talking about is creative.

  • @bassist448

If you dig this and wanna hear some new psychedelic music, lookup some of the bands that play at the Austin Psychedelic Festival every year! Tons of great bands that have a similar vibe!

  • @SMaCStudiosJM wow. sounds cool if i;m ever down that way. thanks

  • Electric Music for the Mind and Body is one of the best rock albums ever recorded.

  • @BlackKaweah agree, its one of the best things that have happened to me. its one of those albums that change ur life truly

  • belli!

  • I feel the black nails a-poundin´now yeah into the coffin of our love.........so apt...this song hits me always very strong!!!!The ´Nam war was no safe bet.....LBJ was bastard wasn´t he...................

  • This album (released in May 1967) was the West Coast version of Sgt. Pepper and part of the soundtrack for my Summer of '67.

Thanks very much for posting this rare album in its entirerty .

  • 이게 진짜 음악 ;D

  • 한국사람 있네 ㅋㅋㅋ 한국사람들 pop만 듣는줄알았는데... blues 짱!!

  • I discovered Country Joe at 1978 when I was 19 in Greece and I'm attached to this band like no other reminiscent of these years. I'm indebted to Joe Mc Donald and the rest for being so inspirational to my good life...wherever you are Joe, Barry and the rest my deepest thanxs..

  • ahh what i would give for a live show with the double bill being, joe and the fish with the grateful dead in their prime. with a bit of electric kollaid

  • This song, bass strings, and section 43 are my favorites. By the way, I just discovered this band to day by mere chance. Saw a documentory of the floyd on tv and looked up psychedelic music and wikipedia listed this band. Cheers

  • good job, this band is prime

  • As one of the people who were there back then, I'd like to say I'm delighted every time I read that some of you younger people are enjoying this music too. I was especially delighted to hear you guys say this music has everything. Including profound and meaningful lyrics. Because of course we all thought that too. But this is our music. But after what you all said, it's also your music. I compliment you all for your excellent taste. Yeah!!!

  • i am glad you feel this way :)

i'm 16 and i can't describe how much i love songs from the 60s/70s specially from Woodstock...when i listen to this songs it makes a chill run down my spine and i feel so happy...

    I wish i was born in 1945 or so ... : (

  • ya tell me about it, i'm 16 too and the sixties seem like they are the best, the music, the women, the freedom movements, and of course the acid. Gotta lead a modern revolution of the mind man

  • i've never dropped acid : /

i'd love to try it ...the kind of acid from the 60s that made you see stuff (like Santana said...his guitar turned into a snake during a concert) , i guess i haven't tried it cuz i'm afraid of going insane forever...i guess that sounds dumb as shit...

also...how can we lead a modern revolution if our fathers were the hippies of the 60s ? : (

But if it's a revolution of mind we should try it!!

spread the peace and the love!

  • @gordinhurox damn hippies, this is blues my brother, its about loneleyness and desperation, not flowers and revolution. word!

  • I was there, let me tell you bro, it was not all good. Bad trips, lots of people died, Still we did have some good times, we had high hopes, I still do. But you know what?? I would not go back if I could. Now is the time baby, You Me, We all got it better now, Hell we got it all. Live for today, don't worry about shit you can't change. OLD HIPPIE.

  • its still bad trips, lots of people dieing, but now its just a big big mess and no hope. its sad, and most of the music is dead today...

  • @gordinhurox My grandma was born in 1946 but she was raised down here in the conservative south with our ass backward morals. I'll play some Fish, Quicksilver or Hendrix and she has no clue. Boy did she miss out. What a waste. I appreciate the music more than she does and i wasnt even alive back then. I wish i coulda lived in the 60/70s too, just without the Vietnam and getting drafted part

  • im only 26 but this is one of my fav blues song , and CJ&TF kicks ass , there isnt a bad song on the whole record , i got 2 vinyl copies>

  • Damn right, what an album and what a band. They've got everything, talent, psychedelia, blues, and awesome, meaningful and profound lyrics!

    A bomb of a band.

  • same here and i feel like im fiin to die on vinyl they are some great records if u ever come across any snatch em up

  • Barry was only 19 when this nice bit of psychedelic blues was recorded, which was quite young to be so damn good.

  • they all put the song together so perfectly... every instrument fits amazingly when you piece it out.

  • anything Joe McDonnald does is alright by me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great

  • I got dem reminicing, longing for the psychedelic '60's blues, man!

( Ever heard his Paris Sessions LP?)

  • Barry Melton can play that axe!

  • TKANKS MAN!

  • Great Blues. I love this song, remember me to drive in sconfinate fields.

  • smooth as a mutha fuker. this makes me proud to be sad. god i love the blues.
