  • they play this theme at yankee stadium when someone hits a homerun on the yankees, you don't normally hear it on tv's at home but when you're there you hear it

  • Love this film.

  • Love it when she stands up and her hat becomes a halo. She's the Goddess of Home Runs in that moment.

  • Saw this movie a million times. This scene is awesome. Glenn Close and Robert Redford were great together. Randy Newman was great with the music incorporationg with the scenes I definitely agree. Best baseball movie ever.

  • Saw this movie as a kid. Never forgot this scene.

  • I have one important question... whos going to pay for the clock?

  • Randy Newman is a GENIUS!!! He could not have done a better job of incorporating the spirit of the game into a song!

  • You know it's the top of the 9th. Why is everyone leaving?

  • @jubjub33333 see the top comments for your answer.

  • @jubjub33333 They knew it was over because we are talking about the cubs !!!

  • My Dad's the picher in this scene !!!!! So proud... makes me smile everytime <3

  • @shly14 wow! that's awesome! this is one of my most memorable childhood movies of all time!

  • @shly14 Tell him I said way to go serving one up to the best hitter in baseball with 2 strikes on him !!!!!

  • Gotta Love Pops's Laugh when it hits the clocktower

  • The only Homeruns we'll ever see in Wrigley Field...

  • thumbs up if you know they waited hours to get the right lighting to make this one scene that was 30 seconds long!

  • THey are traveling to WRigley, so it's the Top of the 9th...yet when he hits it it's like a walk-off...always loved that gaff.

  • This movie rules :D

  • It chills my spine everytime I see the clock smashing. Great scene. A classic!

  • If I was the Cubs owner, I would have billed Hobbs for the clock.

  • Adam Dunn needs a girlfriend like that.

  • @themanthelegendjmw i agree you my friend are a modern day Plato

  • it's corny as all get-out, but I love it

  • ive watched this plenty of times but this is the first time i ever thought- wouldnt the cubs get to bat its not like the game is over and everyone is leaving lol

  • @hippopotomoshurrah its the cubs. the game is over.

  • @cecilbh im saying the cubs are the home team so they should get an at bat even though the knights took the lead

  • @cecilbh LOL!

  • You had to be a real man to go to a ballgame in those days. You wore a suit and tie in 90 degree heat.

  • @mattlocke06 And ladies (even slim ones) wore girdles!

  • Redford was 47 at the time "The Natural" was filmed.

  • Reminds me of when Buddy Bell was playing for the Reds and he hit a ball THROUGH the outfield fence and when Greg Luzinski was playing for the Phillies and he hit a ball off the jumbotron and it started smoking and they had to turn it off.

  • @hazelwood55 The first night they had lights at Wrigley, Andre Dawson (salaam, salaam!) hit one into the lights exactly as Hobbs does in this picture. No fireworks, though, and the lights weren't all connected so only that set went out. People were sure laughing about it though!

  • yes indeed I watch this over and over, always with a tear..... classic

  • not wrigley field*

  • A beautiful scene.

    A baseball fan from China

  • Thanks for posting.

    Greatest baseball film ever.

Sure beats "The Babe Ruth Story" with William Bendix.

    Tony

  • Sorry, but this is not Wrigley Field.

Minor league park in Buffalo, N.Y.

    Tony

  • @TonyLyndellWilliams Knights Field is the old Buffalo Bisons park. This sure looks like Wrigley, with the ivy-covered walls and all.

  • @ksol1460tv Yes, it does look close.

Redford wanted to film at Wrigley, but alas, it was a few years before lights were installed.

    Tony

  • @ksol1460tv It's All High Stadium, which has since been substantially renovated.

  • Walk, walk in the light; this lights me up every time.
