Look at that figure! As a child she thought of herself as an ugly duckling but as we can see here the ugly duckling (which I think she never was) certainly grew into a cutie pie. This single was somewhat overlooked in the shadow of "Everybody's Somebody's Fool" and "My Heart Has A Mind of Its Own," but provided a change of pace andworked just fine into Connie's new nightclub act at the time as an uptempo number.
Why she's not in the R and R Hall of Fame escapes me. She was THE first female rocker, and has outsold many current HOFers. She definitely belongs, and her induction will be long overdue.
Connie is a legend. I jsaw her a few weeks ago perform in suburban Philly. Stood outside after the show and saw her get into her limo. She is so cool.
This was the single where Bobby Darin's influence on Connie's style became evident. She had debuted at the Copacabana in New York City with her new club act and it instantly propelled her forward from hit record maker to mature artist and show business royalty. That act, both in song selection and her performance, owed much to Bobby Darin and all in positive ways.
