  • Great footage and thanks for sharing. A lot of people never saw Pedro race and it's great that youtube gives you this opportunity.

  • Pedro was an absolute BEAST in these cars!!! Won the race by 5 laps 5! Crazy stuff, and after the black flag that put him last for not seeing that yellow early in the race.

  • Who the *hell* disliked this vid? Must be a Luddite with (ironically) a Prius and a lifetime supply of bitchanmoan.

  • Love the slide at 1.50!

  • brands is a fun & complicated circuit, turn 1 'paddock bend' has a flat to negative camber going down hill, at best, a difficult turn in the dry. in the wet, is an impossible turn. pedro was a master in the wet, in this particular race, he was the absolute definition of a virtuoso. after a black flag and a driver change, in which he went from 2nd. to 12th, to leading the race, losing the lead, to winning in the rain. chris amon famous comment on pedro: will someone tell pedro it is raining

  • At 1:50 That's car control!

  • 2:50.. poor Jo Sifert.. died in this circuit one year later.. RIP

  • a very rare car at 1:46 - 1:48 : a McLaren M8C with an engine cosworth 3 l driven by chris Craft and Trevor Taylor

  • Very nice footage! Thanks for sharing!

Great to see Pedro Rodriguez in action!

  • vic elford came second in a porsche 917, but he was 5 laps down... 5!! unbelievable!

  • Pedro and Seppi would so soon be dead...

  • How true. They were two of the best in the business.

  • the man talking about jwa is rodriges?

    btw

he has the same voice of jackie stwart

  • greatest race in history, pedro rodriguez driving the 917. my dad owns it now

  • who is your dad?

  • CLASSIC!

  • I was there in the pits with Alan De Cadenet, and i think Rodriguez's brother, who was co driver on the porsche 908, with Alan. As a 12year old i was running around with my autograph book. Unfortunatly must of the names in the book are racing heros who died within a few years of the race at Brands Hatch. It was a cold and wet day, the noise was unbeliveable but it was a fanatastic experience!Great video.

  • It couldn't be Ricardo Rodriguez, sadly he died 8 years earlier. That book must be filled with very interesting names.

  • Certainly good hands for the tail happy Porsches at 01:48.

"We have no time for good losers." Take note Coulthard, Barrichello..!

  • Those were the days. Long live Brands Hatch!

  • Understated, calm, reserved, but big cajones when the going got tough.

    #1

  • "Someone tells Pedro it's raining!"

"¡Que alguien le diga a Pedro que esta lloviendo!"

Great driver, proud to be mexican, shame he died so young, and his brother too, Ricardo had a future in F1 =(

  • at 01:50!!!

    so wonderful driving!!! =D

    awesome video!!!

  • Awesome driving. I was there the whole weekend, and the sight of Rodriguez power drifting 1000bhp of Porche 917 around the circuit in torrential rain is still engraved in my brain -- incredible to witness, especially around Westfield and Hawthorns out at the back of the circuit -- no run-off area or gravel traps in those days -- was humbling. A genius in the wet.

  • REPSECT.

I wish I lived back in the day of super heros.

  • Thanks for sharing, great video.

  • i stood in the rain so close to the track the spray came over us ,we stood for 6 hours watching the ebst race ever

  • Yes,this drive has passed to legend.Rodriguez could really drive the Porsche917.I wish we could se more racing like this today.Today it's just flash and sponsors and boring races.Sigh.I was born too late to enjoy real motorracing.

  • u r damn right mate, but i still think that the 80's had a lot of excitement

  • just boring races? what about the 2007 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring (GT2 race)

  • GRANDIOSO!!!GRANDIOSO!!!

  • anyone have any more old racing videos? this is awesome

  • Pedro and the 917. Nobody could stop them! Never mind in the rain! I'm so glad I had the chance to see him several times in Mexico.

  • Siffert and Rodriguez, two different styles, two great talents taken from the earth in the same year (1971).

  • Recuerden el comentario de Chris Amon...

    " Why doesn't someone tell Pedro it's Raining?? "

    Impresionante carrera.

  • Wow!
