Pedro was an absolute BEAST in these cars!!! Won the race by 5 laps 5! Crazy stuff, and after the black flag that put him last for not seeing that yellow early in the race.
brands is a fun & complicated circuit, turn 1 'paddock bend' has a flat to negative camber going down hill, at best, a difficult turn in the dry. in the wet, is an impossible turn. pedro was a master in the wet, in this particular race, he was the absolute definition of a virtuoso. after a black flag and a driver change, in which he went from 2nd. to 12th, to leading the race, losing the lead, to winning in the rain. chris amon famous comment on pedro: will someone tell pedro it is raining
I was there in the pits with Alan De Cadenet, and i think Rodriguez's brother, who was co driver on the porsche 908, with Alan. As a 12year old i was running around with my autograph book. Unfortunatly must of the names in the book are racing heros who died within a few years of the race at Brands Hatch. It was a cold and wet day, the noise was unbeliveable but it was a fanatastic experience!Great video.
Awesome driving. I was there the whole weekend, and the sight of Rodriguez power drifting 1000bhp of Porche 917 around the circuit in torrential rain is still engraved in my brain -- incredible to witness, especially around Westfield and Hawthorns out at the back of the circuit -- no run-off area or gravel traps in those days -- was humbling. A genius in the wet.
Yes,this drive has passed to legend.Rodriguez could really drive the Porsche917.I wish we could se more racing like this today.Today it's just flash and sponsors and boring races.Sigh.I was born too late to enjoy real motorracing.
Great footage and thanks for sharing. A lot of people never saw Pedro race and it's great that youtube gives you this opportunity.

It couldn't be Ricardo Rodriguez, sadly he died 8 years earlier. That book must be filled with very interesting names.

"¡Que alguien le diga a Pedro que esta lloviendo!"
Great driver, proud to be mexican, shame he died so young, and his brother too, Ricardo had a future in F1 =(
