I can understand what you mean. I been writting a bit fighting scense in Mortal Kombat fanfic. I've been watching some of fighters skills but still looked up their own fighting moves,and being creatived with them too. Also you can't always have the characters be 'the fighter who can't be defeated', But not all story is about fight scenes becaues there's more to it.

I get what you mean. I tried my hand at quite a few fight scenes, and every time I write one out I keep going back to add some needed detail that I missed.

On a side note, I believe that from now on we should refer to Smeyer's books as Toilet, Naive Moron, Excrement and Bloody Dreadful.

You forgot to mention that Smeyers doesn't donate to charity. That's what I hate most about her. That being said, action scenes are hard to write. Well, unless they're SLASH "action" scenes. I find those very easy to write. ;) Research can be hard, too, especially if you grew up in an age with no Internet, but as you say, that doesn't excuse it. If Smeyers spent less time eating twinkies and KFC, and more time writing, she could write an action scene and do research.

Writing action scenes is my FAVORITE part in writing. All the time I have been writing the action scenes are putting pressure onto my skull and when that part comes up I can finally release the pressure.

Fighting scenes are always the hardest to write (For me, some romance parts of the books, as well, for some reason) and find myself trying to hurry past writing it even though I know it's one of the most important parts. But once I get into, I'm INTO it.

I'm actually fairly good at writing action scenes, and the fights do come to me relatively quickly. Hell when I'm writing my fantasy stories sometimes I have to stop and just turn on some music or something and swing around my own sword because I get too involved with the action on a mental level it kinda takes over xD.

But just because I can write actions scenes doesn't mean creating the set-ups is easy for me. Nor is finding the right words for them.

I agree with you on the difficulty on writing action sequences. I just finished a fantasy novel. There were plenty of sword-swinging and spell casting fighting scenes. They were tedious at first, but I added an under tone of character development to make it more fun for me. Something like, having a calm noble knight going berserk in battle and later feeling remorse about it.
