Uh, sorta. I believe (anybody correct me if I am wrong) the actual Z28 Camaros were started in mid 67, in mid 68 they replaced the 302 fender emblem with a Z28 emblem, then in 69 they put it all over the car.
Chevy developed a 302 for the Camaro when it first came out to race in the Trans Am series. I believe in 67 and 68 the 302 was your only option but in 69 you had your choice of several engines.

I believe Ford had a 302, GM had a 307, 327
