Linking to my reply to Indac02, Managerial Jobs, they are the most stress ful Jobs in the world, taking care of buisness's thats a big job, but about 97% of them have assistant Managers, who take half the work off of their shoulders, Managers their Job salary starts at £45,000+ depending on company, their assistants start at £35,000+, These are stressful Jobs but, managers get around the same amount of holidays as a Teacher, except their's aren't split into the four main holidays of schools

I totally agree that teachers are WAY underpaid, and I think its stupid that government think that a measily 3.7% raise will attract more people to teaching as career, me personally when I finish my Degree in Education to become a teacher plan to move to another country, because they get paid a hell of alot more abroad, A measily £23,000 was the highest offer I found online for a Primary School Teacher, thats shit, compared to the $45,000 offered in america for new teachers, thats £30,000 here

Nick, please explain to me how you come to the conclusion that you ONLY get 4 weeks annual leave a year? What happens in the summer,Easter and Xmas breaks? You and I know teachers are no where near the school. 3months of the year the school is closed for business what are you doing for this period? 34k I accept, but can you also accept that it not exactly a poverty/low wage salary.I also think I am worth more then I am paid and I had a 0.5% pay rise this year,I don't get anywhere near 34k.

Yes but, have considered that teachers have to look after 15-30 kids, Plan 8 hour lessons for them for 5 days a week, Plus Marking their work and making sure that their grades stay up

Trust me that is not an easy Job, its frustrating and very stressfull, and especially for the shit salary which on average is £25,000, £34,000 only comes to the teachers who av worked for 10+ years as a Teacher, its not a starting point

25K to 34K and a virtually guarenteed job in a time when others are being layed off or at the least having their pay or overtime cut seems like a good gig to me. Teachers get 12 weeks off a year from teaching children, they get training days plus any hot or cold weather days they can wangle off when the rest of the workforce struggles to get into work. Please dont tell me how overworked teachers are,everyone knows this is not the case,re- stress I think your find all jobs have a stress element .

so Dru you spend the 6 week summer holidays sitting in a sweaty classroom planning work do you? or is it more likely to be the case that the last week of the summer hols the teachers trapse in to start planning the new year. I used to have some involvement with a state school, I know EXACTLY how hard teachers work in the break periods.if your suggesting you do spend a lot of time planning your work, i am telling you a lot of your colleagues are not. this comment comes from reality not cynicism.

Ok, I've looked at both your comments, and this is a reply to both, My first reply is please don't link my comment with someone elses, I never mentioned holidays, 2, Have you seen how much some of the lightest Jobs and what there salaries are, Games Developers for example, most of their days they spend developing Games, but consider they don't plan these days, they simply walk in, sit down in front of a computer and work, making games aren't work its art, and some may a hobby, Salary:£40,000

why have you not mentioned Holidays Dru? its a enormous perk getting paid for doing nothing 3 months of the year. Lets not forget you work to a yearly curriculum which means IF you stay teaching the same year, Year on Year the job is in effect the same and is likely to become easier for a intellegent teacher. I am sorry Dru, we do need teachers, but I feel they are always whinging for more money when everyone else has to make do. Whats the old saying...those that can do, those that can't teach.

Nick, thanks for stepping up to the plate and answering for a suddenly dunb struck teaching profession. I don't disagree teaching in some state schools is a challenge to say the least, however I am tired of teacher constantly conplaining how underpaid they are. I know from experience that most of the summer hols teachers are no where near a school and are more likely to be found on a beach. its only in the last week they tend to traipes into the school to prepare the terms lessons.
