  • Neat idea!! You are just full of neat ideas. Thanks for sharing

PS you don't sound like a Georgia boy!!

  • Very cool - those plastic bowl sieves you get for $35 must cost $2 to make. It really irritates me!! Do you think you can use silcone caulking after gluing the screen in on the other side instead of the plywood? I do not have plywood laying around and to buy a sheet of it for that would be a little overkill.

  • @mudpuppy61 Hey, glad you followed my link! :o) I don't see why you couldn't use silicone to adhere the screening. I put the plywood in because, as you guessed, I had it laying around, and I also wanted some strength if I really started bearing down on it. But, if you put the screen inside the pot on top of the 'lip' it should work good. If I make another one for a different screen size, I'll try it too. Yes, the prices are ridiculous for the commercial CHINESE ones!!!

  • But still clumsy!!!

  • Watching you and Dan, I'm learning how to be pretty handy...I can do this!!!

  • Yes you can!!!!! I have faith in you.

  • Hey nice work, also make a some small cup sized for test glazes, I used a plastic cup and glued to the base. Great for those off cuts of mesh!

    Keep it up!

  • That's a great idea! It would work for the pints of brushing glazes that I hardly ever use but when I do, they really need sieving. Got to do that!

  • Hi Dan, yea the big Corsair is a beauty with retractable landing gear and those crazy 3 piece flaps. It weighs 26 pounds! I'm afraid to fly it. I have one flight on it.

Mcmaster has so many types of screen that it can be intimidating, that's why I listed the stock numbers. It's the cheapest SS utility cloth, which is more than sufficient, and, as you'll see, it's only like 6 bucks, I think. That makes four of them. One for you and three to sell. Hey, maybe I'll sell some on my website!

  • Thanks so much for sharing the info!!! I did buy an overpriced, too fine mesh screen... Not wanting to buy another- I am so thrilled to find a source of screen and make my own! By the way, your kiln wash is fantastic, still working like a dream! Looking forward to your kiln opening. Thanks again, Sharon

  • Hi Sharon, glad the wash is working! It is for me too! Yea, make your own sieves. You can do it!

  • Excellent idea! Thanks:)

  • Thanks! I hope it helps someone out. :o)

  • Sorry for the pauses in my narration. I lent my teleprompters to Obama!!! :o)
