A colleague of mine has this car. It's amazing. Much better than bimmer x5, maybe because it's much bigger. It makes make wanna trade in my new sports sedan for a huge SUV.
Could someone explain why, for all this money, the LX cannot be optioned with HID headlights yet the $33000 is250 can be ordered with them? The GX in premium grade has them but their most expensive SUV does not. Yes, I know I can plug in a cheap hid kit but they never look as good as using a projector that was designed for an HID capsule.

And Lexus's excuse for the airbags NOT deploying? "The vehicle struck the front and rear corners, just below the airbag sensors...The side impact airbags are activated only by pressure sensors in the doors unless otherwise triggered by a roll-over." Remember I hit a flat CONCRETE BARRIER. Also, it seems only a few like Merc, BMW, infiniti/Nissan, and Acura/Honda have side airbag sensors that detect major lateral movement...which would have prevented my head/facial injuries. Buyers Beware!!!
I would STRONGLY suggest NOBODY buy this vehicle. We had one for just over 6 months ('10 model) and after losing control around a freeway offramp corner at 55mph (only 5mph above speed limit, mind you) the VSC only activated (indicated by a loud rapid beeping) AFTER I was almost completely backwards sliding at 50mph. After striking the barriers several times, I was bleeding profusely from my head and mouth since the side/front airbags all failed to deploy. I have pics for anyone interested!
@sacdude20 Let me guess, you turned in quickly and let off the gas at the same time. If so you encounted the same problem consumers reports did with the lexus lx460, or in other terms, lift off oversteer. This makes sense considering they both use simular technology.
@rangerover06sc Thats what I'm guessing. We never tried taking legal action against toyota/lexus although I had several lawyers burning up my line. I'm not after their money, I just think its yet another huge safety hazard that needs to be addressed. After the dealership helped us in bringing this to Toyota of North America's attention, they basically told us to go fuck ourselves...I will NEVER so much as sit in another toyota product til the day I die...not even a rental car!
@sacdude20 Well thats exactly what Consumer Reports did with a simular issue that occured in the LX570's little brother, the GX460. They exploded the issue, and Lexus quickly corrected it.
@rangerover06sc Insanity. Our replacement for this was the new Infiniti QX56. If it was available in early 2010 when we bought the LX570, the QX56 would have been the first choice. It has WAY better interior design, functionality and quality than any lexus, far more driver aids/comfort features, significantly better acceleration and handling, and it is far quieter and smoother on the freeways...oh yea, and 10k cheaper when fully loaded! The only thing lexus had better was off road performance.
@sacdude20 ok this car saved my life when a uhaul truck pulled into my lane and hit me head on (about 45-50MPH). This is the best car i've ever had and Lexus has been in my family for 9-10 years. This is my first car and i love it and have never had any problems with it. You should have been in more control over your car next time and stop blaming everyone else for you mistakes

i acknowledge that lexus should have done something that makes the exterior stand out from the landcruiser but i think it still looks amazing. the interior is such a step up from our LX470 which is already hugely impressive. great work to lexus once again. elegant looking design, rugged qualities yet still a smooth and comfortable ride without compromising driving experience. the variable gear ratio system is a godsend. it makes driving the LX even smoother than some of lexus' low end sedans.

There's nothing wrong in that! You should realise that Lexus is the Luxury brand of Toyota (i.e. under Toyota, its parent company). The only 'dichotomy' or 'mutual exclusivity' is in name.

It's nice, but it's to awkward. We were looking at it when we bought a new vehicle, we wanted luxury, third row, and luxury options. We drove four vehicles, This, The Volvo XC90, The Buick Enclave, and the Mercedes R class, We ended up taking the Enclave. Kicked ass in space with them all, luxury design, and options. And quietness too.
I wouldn't even choose this over the Linc. Navigator...although, the interior is nice. I think, Lexus should've done a better job with the third row if, they're going to price this truck that much!

We traded in our RX for this, we would've got the 2010 RX, but the redesign isn't too great. I like the RX wayyy better.

these SUV are P.O.S because your wasting money on the things that you don't need or use at all, the reason its expensive because of the hydralic and electrical and other useless stuff, and both the second row and Third row seats are unconfortable, If you want an SUV go with the Sequoia, because they both have the same engine that the Tundra has, but if you don't go Offroad, buy the 2011 Sienne because there more confortable than this SUV , cost less, and fuel effecientcy. I would.

i acknowledge that lexus should have done something that makes the exterior stand out from the landcruiser but i think it still looks amazing. the interior is such a step up from our LX470 which is already hugely impressive. great work to lexus once again. elegant looking design, rugged qualities yet still a smooth and comfortable ride without compromising driving experience. the variable gear ratio system is a godsend. it makes driving the LX even smoother than some of lexus' low end sedans.

I usually respect the majority of luxury car brands for what they offer and look like, but this Lexus looks not almost or kinda, it Looks exactly like a Toyota Land Cruiser. Is it Lexus's goal to aspire to look just like Toyota?? If its such a car that states success why not make it stand out from other SUV's not blend in with a vehicle that's not even in the same categorie of luxury cars. Just another Lexus gone wrong.. I love the car just wouldnt pay for the twin called lexus.

yes, i know that Lexus is owned by Toyota but my point is why not separate both stylings if your offering the consumer a better and luxurious car. But i understand where your coming from, their styling will always resemble the Toyota to a Lexus, a Honda to an Acura and so forth.

This is one of the worlds TRUE great SUVS.
A silky 5.7 v8, a beautifully constructed interior, and an understated exterior appearance that exudes prestige.
If i were to buy a large SUV, this would definitely be it.
I would get one with a pearl white exterior and light beige interior.

this model is so boring and so not original, what you don't know is that lexus uses the same models as toyota, pretty much the same, check out the toyota land cruiser is the same as this, and also the lexus gx 470 is a copy of the land cruiser prado, and it happends with a the models

There's nothing wrong in that! You should realise that Lexus is the Luxury brand of Toyota (i.e. under Toyota, its parent company). The only 'dichotomy' or 'mutual exclusivity' is in name.

first off, the lexus lx is based off the land cruiser, and in asia and africa areas, they call it the land cruiser prado when we here in USA call it the land cruiser

It's nice, but it's to awkward. We were looking at it when we bought a new vehicle, we wanted luxury, third row, and luxury options. We drove four vehicles, This, The Volvo XC90, The Buick Enclave, and the Mercedes R class, We ended up taking the Enclave. Kicked ass in space with them all, luxury design, and options. And quietness too.

Oh really? Well..., you must haven't been inside of the new Linc. Navi. yet! The only thing that, the Lex. LX570 have on the Linc. Navi. is, the Hp. of the engine...but, that's all going to change when, Ford dumps their new 6.2 Hurricane/Boss V8 with 400+hp. into the Navi.! ;-)
