Why Romney doesn't distance himself from a religion that is patently racist is beyond me. It's kind of like saying one is maintaining membership in the KKK because their family likes the cookouts.
He needs to wake up in that regard. One can only hope that he uses the pulpit of the white house podium to do so and put this wretched religion behind us in the dustbin of disgraceful ideals.
I am glad that Mitt Romney had conveniently "let that dog slip through the fence"!
(There didn't seem to have been any outrage, from the Romney camp, over the "going public of" that infamous Delbert L. Stapley letter!)
To think that "THE BRETHREN" were trying to insinuate themselves into the private convictions of public figures (like Mitt's father, Michigan Governor George Romney, in 1964) is a shameless, shameless attempt at a control-freak effort to make leaders tow the LDS party line!
I don't know if I mentioned this, before, but this Delbert L. Stapley letter was "leaked out", from the private collection, of George Romney's son, Wilbur Mitt Romney. (Yes, "Wilbur" is Mitt's real first name).
Anyway, it does make one wonder if Mitt wanted to make sure the leaders in SLC had "nothing on the George Romney family". I am almost convinced that Mitt would NOT let Salt Lake "dictate" to him, if he should become the nation's president, in the future...ALMOST, but not quite sure.

That Delbert Stapley was certainly a "hunk of crap", with his traditional Mormon racist views!
(Utah even sanctioned the possession of slaves, during at least part of the Civil War)
Absolutely inexcusable was Stapley, to "lean on" Romney, like that!
I bet that old dog will turn over in his grave, on seeing his (Stapley's) "private letter" becoming grist, for the internet, like this!
