  • Interview stated:

"Do you think white men can the same rhythm & blues feeling? Probably they can't have the same movement"

But what she really meant to say was:

"White men don't seem to please me as much and you hansom men might. I Bet the two of you can do me real good. Put the moves on me baby!"

  • Double Dynamite !!!!!! R.I.P Dave and Good health Sam x

  • @Timeofflux well, if you want to annoy people at least get your facts straight first. Dave shot his girlfriend; she was not yet his wife. In fact, she actually MARRIED Dave AFTER the shooting. So she seemingly forgave him enough to take his hand in marriage (which also makes it seem like the shooting was an accident). She really is the ONLY person who has the right to keep bringing this incident up or be so damn upset about it, and she is not bringing it up at all. So WTF is up with Sam, his...

  • ...wife and all these other people like yourself (people who were NOT there, didn't get shot, don't know all the facts, and have no idea what they are talking about, mind you) who keep bringing this incident up like it personally effects them? Dave is dead, so you're certainly not hurting him. By repeatedly bringing up this incident all you are doing is hurting people who don't deserve it. People like the woman who actually got shot who seemingly has moved on and does not want to talk about...

  • ...it. Dave's children and grandchildren have to be repeatedly subjected to reading BS about this incident and they didn't shoot anybody...it's really not fair. So while you're having "fun" trying to annoy people with misleading & incorrect statements, just think about who you really are effecting.

    Later.

  • @Timeofflux So what? WTF does that have to do with what we were talking about? BTW, this interview is from '67 and the shooting incident didn't happen until '69, so your comment REALLY doesn't have anything to do with this particular video clip or what we were saying. BTW, were you there when this shooting took place? Do you know what REALLY happened? I didn't think so, so STFU! I'm sick & tired of people bringing this up like Dave Prater was the ONLY person on earth to have made mistakes...

  • ...and bad decisions in his life. Sam was no angel either! He admitted to being a pimp, a con-artist, a heroin addict, a dead-beat dad who doesn't know how many children he has fathered (he claims it's between 10 to 20). A pimp is the lowest life form there is, and I also heard that Sam once chased a women out of her apartment with a baseball bat...does that make him any better than Dave? I don't think so! And judging from your stupid comment to me, you seem to think that interviewers...

  • ...shouldn't talk to musicians with checkered pasts...then they really wouldn't be able to interview anyone now would they, and they certainly wouldn't be interviewing Sam Moore!

So, Timeofflux, please save your sanctimonious & holier-than-thou comments for someone who doesn't know any better or have a clue (and that ain't me!)

Try to R.I.P., Dave, in spite of stupid people who regurgitate all the BS Sam has tried to perpetrate about you since 4/9/88...don't believe the hype, yall! Later.

  • Sam and Dave made it most difficult, especially Dave. Do you think you could put those cigs out?

  • Poor journalist...Dave (L) has lots of things to say, but she still continues to look at and ask questions to Sam (R). He has so much to say and when he does (towards the end), he is reflective and knowledgeable!

  • Sadly, kucheza, it seems as if a lot of other journalists as well did the same thing when interviewing Sam & Dave together...they all seem to snub Dave and defer to Sam. It's infuriating! What was up with that?

    R.I.P. DAVE PRATER.

  • It's too quiet, I can't hardly hear them when they reply ...

  • Stupid girl, asking stupid questions. I know that wanted to cuss her. I want to cuss her myself.

  • Thank God we as black people can speak are minds this day in age!!!

  • A 'God' has nothing to do with anything. But, hey, you are also free to go to school.

"...speak are minds this day in age!!!"

I am not boxing you but you make it too easy IF someone was going to try.

  • I was waiting for the girl to bring up the subject of race and sure enough...These poor guys were constantly having to field really stupid questions by people looking to trap them. Jazz great Thelonious Monk was once asked what kind of music he liked. He said "I like every kind of music". The interviewer then asked "Do you like country music?" Monk then asked him if he was hard of hearing. The guy was setting a trap for him. He wanted him to dis country music so he could portray him as militant

  • How the hell did you ever come up with that conclusion? See, it's people like you that try to be victims before ever victimized. Assume something will happen before anything even happens. Sad story...

  • until you've walked a mile in a man's shoes, don't bother trying to decipher him.

It is obvious you know nothing of systemic racism and may I also remind you that to deny the existence of this is in itself racist.

Maybe one day when your mind is beyond its peon size you'll see the world for what it REALLy is...you're clueless

  • that was good

  • In real life Sam and Dave hated each other, but their stage chemistry is undeniable! They were the BEST soul duo ever!

  • I remember this concert, it was great. I was thirteen, I loved them and still do.

  • nice to see another side of Soul music artists...dynamite on stage, but very cool and collected afterwards..

  • This is an awesome video clip. This is what youtube is good for, I love watching old videos. Its great for the younger funs like me, who weren't around back then.

  • wow this is an amazing interview. I just bought the stax respect yourself dvd and i wish they had extras with these kind of interviews on it. A real capture of the times and feelings of europe and america.

  • around 1:26 and especially from around 1:30 to 1:40 there is a bluesy whistling in the backround. u have to turn up the sound.. it sooner as well around 1:07. but it's really odd and a bit eerie

  • she should have held the mike closer to 'em though. S&D not given enough credit, shame shame shame, and poor reissuing of their back catalogue, shame on you atlantic/stax

  • A very interesting interview. Sam Moore has stated the reason he and Dave Prater broke up, was because they did not get along. I wish they could of kept their partnership together. They look relaxed, composed, and in a reflective mood. Theses black and white clips are beautiful to watch. A Stax moment.
