  • real fun! love the interaction

  • fucking savage his fingers must be like rocks they way he plays bass

  • I love this

  • I agree with JayJayNZ. I also play electronic music as well as guitar, drums, bass, sax, and piano. Music is music ppl, it comes from the mind and heart of the composer(s). I have been a BIG fan of electronic music simply because it can be what ever you want, their is no limits to what you can produce. Just because its all automated with a push of a button when performing live does not mean there is no talent involved.

  • Awesome Bass! iLove Squarepusher!

  • oooh, no sir, you are soo wrong! Just listen to that bass and be awestruck...

  • Oh god you have got to be kidding me...

    DO YOU KNOW SQUAREPUSHER?

  • yeah uh you sir, are a fuck.

  • That's probably one of the most close minded statements I've ever read in my life. Good job!

  • Someone thinks Squarepushers music is techno. Hilarious. Someone needs a crash course in the genres of music. Next you'll be telling us that Venetian Snares plays blues. LMAO

  • Damn Slayer and their Rock n' Roll !

  • Fantastic music

  • I hate you you, make me sick!

  • I only seem to like his songs where he actually plays bass not just pushes buttons. Who wants to go to a live show to watch someone push buttons?

  • "..Who wants to go to a live show to watch someone push buttons?"

As opposed to strumming strings? I see no considerable difference.

  • Because you aren't a musician.

  • "Because you aren't a musician."

That is unwarranted and irrelevant. Both 'pushing buttons' and 'strumming strings' are methods of producing music with devices through an adroit execution. There is no substantial difference other than antiquity versus modern utility.

  • Computers are not instruments. They simply attempt to replicate sounds.

  • "Computers are not instruments. They simply attempt to replicate sounds."

Your retort is erroneous. By definition in regards to this subject, they are a contrivance for producing musical sounds, ergo an instrument. Also, they both replicate and create sounds.

  • youtube. com/watch?v=MkYD-vjkbiE

    This is music.

  • "youtube. com/watch?v=MkYD-vjkbiE

    This is music."

What does that have to do with anything? So if it isn't what is being done in that video, then it isn't music? You appear to have no argument for your earlier imputations.

  • Is your vocabulary that gay in person or just on the internet?

  • "Is your vocabulary that gay in person or just on the internet?"

What's gay about it? Are you conceding that your perspective on musicianship is flawed by digressing into idle chatter?

  • Allow me to rephrase that.

Are you that gay in person or just on the internet?

  • "Allow me to rephrase that.

Are you that gay in person or just on the internet?"

Again, how is it gay? I don't see a connection.

  • Who goes around using words like digressing, contrivance, erroneous and adroit...

  • "Who goes around using words like digressing, contrivance, erroneous and adroit..."

I do at least, when they are applicable and help convey a point of view.

  • bahaha whatever man. And I can't beleive you keep quoting me. this is fucking youtube comments not a presidential debate.

  • "..And I can't beleive you keep quoting me.."

I do so for clarity and productivity.

"..this is fucking youtube comments not a presidential debate."

It's a debate nonetheless, and one from which you could learn something.

  • hmm...go watch your tool videos.

  • tool are awesome.

    just a joke.

btw I both play in a rock band and do electronic music. If you think electronic music is easy just because you push buttons, you obviously have never it done it live, all by yourself. I feel safer playing guitar in a band than that.

  • Um he's not imrovising on the spot or creating the song live.

  • True but neither do a lot of bands. Of course he's automated a lot for this song because he's playing bass and simply doesn't have enough hands. However you can improvise and make songs live in electronic music. Squarepusher does it sometimes as do many other artists who are not merely DJs.

  • the beat goes to the speakers from his mind using telepathy... hes better than anything you've ever comprehended kid

  • whats the difference between going to his show and playing his music through a quality sound system

  • the people, the energy, the dancing, alles verpest!

  • Alright so whats the difference between playing Squarepusher out of a sound system at a venue? (without him there)

  • Whats the difference having between -Insert known artist name here- playing at your place or just the record?

  • Live music, variation, ACTUALLY playing an instrument, improvising, not just pushing buttons. Im not referring to when SP plays bass, just when he does the DJ thing.

  • "Live music, variation, ACTUALLY playing an instrument, improvising, not just pushing buttons."

    1. When Squarepusher plays live, it is live music.

    2. Between mixing and sequence production, Squarepusher does vary and\or improvise his songs.

    3. The buttons that are being pushed is an instance of playing an instrument.

Your approach to music is that of a regressive old curmudgeon that either doesn't understand or is too scared of advancement, either way you are a detriment to art.

  • How insightful! Not...

  • dude shut the fuck up, you cant play the keys worth shit. go back to your gay club and listen to some more trance, faggot.

  • "he is essentially a DJ when he isnt playing bass. DJ's aren't musicians."

There are different types of DJ's; those that simply play music are not musicians while those that compose music are. Squarepusher composes music.

  • and you obviously have no knowledge what-so-ever.

  • How would you know? Because I think that simply playing music out of a PA at a concert instead actually playing an instrument is lame, implies that I have no knowledge? Right.

  • and for the record, i like this track

  • And Mozart wasn´t a musician because he let his operas get played by other people instead of playing them himself at every staging? you´re not making any sense dude.

  • the smell

  • this is a sweet ass song . i like the bass . hes pretty fast

  • what a manchine.

  • fucking awesome

  • FUCKING GOD !

  • yes some squarepusher videos. this guy rocks. i like to listen to him when im working on my electronics. seriously and it puts me in a good mood too.

  • Exelente.. hermoso.. perfecto! esto es la pura onda!

  • this is incredible!

  • nr1 hero

  • listen to all his tracks. he's a friggin genius

  • That's a mean slap bass.

  • this live version is better than the studio recordin

  • I agree I was at this gig at Koko first time I had heard the song as well, the album wasn't out yet.

  • does anyone know who plays keyboards for him? or are they sampled?

  • It's ALL him. Has always been and I hope that is how it stay!

  • He writes his own algorithms on Reaktor, which explains why his sound is so unique.

  • i was there and there was a mush pit going on

i got out of there whit no shirt

  • love the hand signal!

  • This is freaking awesome !!

  • oh jeah.. the comment below goes to Bbloodratio.

  • sweet.

    of course.

    ;]

  • Squarepusher pwns!

  • Wonderful.

  • great bass, nice groove :D yeah, squarepusher is a great artist...

  • To everyone bashing his "octaves only" bass playing, I think there is still an incredible groove going on here.

  • oh yeah for sho :-)

  • this is my favorite song of Squarepusher...great live performance!

  • I've tried to download this countless times but there is some bogus version on limewire, seems to be all I can get!

  • If you go to vixy dot net, you can download videos from YouTube to your computer.

  • You can download his stuff from pirate bay too on bittorent ....but it s illegal btw :P

  • illegal?? nooo!!!

    thank you capitan obvious!! :)

  • Coooooooooooool

  • for a techno guy he sure has balls for playin live with his own recordings. most djs are too busy trippin all they usually do is press play and crossfade and shit. i admire tom jenkinson.

  • Brilliant. He's a great bass-player.

  • fuck new rave

  • Shit fucking hot.

  • absolutely perfect

  • 天才だ

  • lets see u jam out on the bass like him... :)

  • its a song man hes not trying to impress i think he gets a good vibe out of it simple or not i think it worked lot

  • yeah i think simplicity is good its jus i head loads of hype sayin he's like the worlds best bass player and tbh he's not even close

  • he might not be the world best bass player if the only criteria being judged is technical ability, However if you factor in creativity ect.... he is certainly up there

  • You can tell by some of his other records he has more to show than this on a technical level, but for me it's also about creativity. A good song might or might not be complex as long as it sounds good to my ears.

  • hey Dudes... he is not only a bass player. He works on a percussion, synthesizer (analog one), classical guitar and an electric one... He is far more than just-a-bass

  • Go check out "Feed Me Wierd Things" and "Ultra Visitor." His best for bass playing.

  • Right...except that there AREN'T any videos of him playing those tracks!? Useless

  • Here's a novel idea, go buy the CD.

  • omg!!!!!!!!!!!

  • AWESOME

  • Fabulous talented master! Greetings from Lima- Perú.

  • This guy is amazing, i wish i was as good as him :(

  • yeah man !!! maestro, saludos desde chile ,paz..

  • ea saludos desde DF WE REALLY CONNECT WITH U BABY

  • chut

  • clown

  • ur an ignorant dumbass

  • lol "modern effects" ya twunt

  • Fuck you, just because you dont like this, doesnt mean it isnt good. Its got a very original sound which might not work for everyone, but the last thing the fans of it needs is some guy stating his worthless opinion in the comments. And have respect for jazz, without it the whole world would be a much different place...

  • this absolutely kicks ass!!!

  • i love his music so much i put it on to workout and spar all of the time

  • hells yeah wish i could play like that...shame i missed him last time =(

  • to the prick that said hes just jammin to a laptop,do a little research into this man and you will find he is a massively respected musician, famous for being on of the best jazz musicians in the world, and you my friend have made yourself look a cunt

  • While I love Squarepusher to death and have infinite respect for him, to call him "one of the best jazz musicians in the world" is a little off base.

  • maybe it is way exaggerate but off who's base? your base?

  • I love this guy! One of the greatest musicians alive!

  • shutnings upnings daveweckl1 !

  • You don't know nothing about dance music, and you can see that this is a very inovative musician playing the bass very well!! Very famous in japan btw!!

  • the song is obviously written in that way he just HAS to just follow the chord progressions.

Not a bad thing, since many popsongs (of which at least some are played live) have the same simple structure for their basslines. As some fans know, he does have way more technique than what you see here, and ... it is always about the whole song, not just the bass.

  • CLOWN

  • You're so smart. Squarepusher fans are so dumb.

I bet you sat back and crossed your arms after you posted this.

  • YEA LETS RAGE TO THE SQUAREPUSHER :)

This shit is so funked up, its more funkier than a African cab driver!
