I really like Roy deans style. I have the same build. I use to get trapped in side control allot. Now I work so great off of my back I bait people into getting me in side control. This video is amazing for people like me that actually play from this position.. If someone is bigger and stronger this is triangle city. Thank you Roy for illustrating how to execute that triangle adequately. My black belt tell me the triangle is impossible to execute from there. Now I will try pulling the arm harder.

Great video as usual by Roy Dean. The only thing that I noticed that still boggles me, and I've seen this in countless other BJJ videos and classes, is why BJJ practitioners have such weak sprawls? I know they were only demonstrating, but time and time again I see BJJ'ers completely ignore basic sprawling concepts like keeping pressure on the shooter's neck and putting ur hips as far down as possible. Idk, just something I noticed.

@bjjalltheway1 Maybe it's cause sprawling is originally a defensive wrestling technique and they they don't cross train in wrestling so they don't get that little extra technique you mentioned.

I don't think the second escape is very reliable for a smaller, weaker person. You'd have to have a great amount of core strength."Big abs" is a low percentage escape. Roy Dean is a great teacher though.
