Awesome...love the 'what if' scenario chain. Invariably I get some gorilla Gable-gripping for all they're worth. My dumbass fault for letting it get there, but stalling flat out sucks (or just using brute force to squeeze the air outta ya).
Thanks for the video- helpful & informative. On a side note, I like Roy Dean's dojo. Very zen-like and always comes off as a place w/ good karma & meditative aspects.
I really like Roy deans style. I have the same build. I use to get trapped in side control allot. Now I work so great off of my back I bait people into getting me in side control. This video is amazing for people like me that actually play from this position.. If someone is bigger and stronger this is triangle city. Thank you Roy for illustrating how to execute that triangle adequately. My black belt tell me the triangle is impossible to execute from there. Now I will try pulling the arm harder.
Its funny that only good teachers can come up with a non-rule like 'you gotta use what you got' and still make the audience feel like they learned something important.
Great video as usual by Roy Dean. The only thing that I noticed that still boggles me, and I've seen this in countless other BJJ videos and classes, is why BJJ practitioners have such weak sprawls? I know they were only demonstrating, but time and time again I see BJJ'ers completely ignore basic sprawling concepts like keeping pressure on the shooter's neck and putting ur hips as far down as possible. Idk, just something I noticed.
@bjjalltheway1 Maybe it's cause sprawling is originally a defensive wrestling technique and they they don't cross train in wrestling so they don't get that little extra technique you mentioned.
@bladyjoker Hahaha- He definitely could. He should really consider acting. I think that he would be good at it. As far as being an instructor, he is honestly the best that I've seen, but if you watch Roy Harris' seminars you will see where he get's it from.
@bjjdiver watching this, i just realized that when roy dean goes no gi, he looks like paul ruebens (pee wee herman). when he's in a gi, you don't see it as much. lol. good technique, tho.
I don't think the second escape is very reliable for a smaller, weaker person. You'd have to have a great amount of core strength."Big abs" is a low percentage escape. Roy Dean is a great teacher though.
Awesome! Great Sequence. More from Roy Dean Please! How something like this but when the opponent moves from side to north/south, and working out of the north/south
hey guys do u have a video on when the opponent blocks ur hips in side control and u have to do a double hip escape?? .....if not can u guys do one im having so much trouble there..... anyway this video is awesome ....thanks guys
This one video clip has enough material for a month's worth of training. Awesome stuff.
