that only 300 volts i use only three tiny camera capciator and got up to 500 volts

Why does everyone use only one coil? Wouldn't it be much more effective to use 3 or 4 of them?

Multiple coils would require some sort of timing circuit to fire them in sequence. It can be tricky.

I somewhat though they may make good projectiles but I don't have anything to test that idea yet.

These capacitors were from old monitors and computer power supplies. You can get new ones on Ebay.

how did you charge the capacitors so quicly? i am making a coil gun and i use a camera flash circuit to charge my capacitors but it takes like 10 mins for them to charge. how did you charge them

I used a voltage multiplier with a current limiting resistor. It draws about 10 amps but charges in seconds.

dude...description says that ENTIRE capacitor bank holds 300v...a SINGLE capacitor could hold way more than that....with that many capacitors, you should have much more power, you did something drastically wrong.

The caps in parallel, so the rated voltage is the same but the capacitance is multiplied.

I am building a bigger power supply that delivers 900 volts. It uses 8 x 3700 at 450 volt capacitors.

What you need to do is use a very small projectile accelerated to an enourmus velocity. Ke=MV^2. Mass is not as important as speed. If you cannot get enought current to fire the projectile at high enough of a velocity, try using an explosively pumped flux compression generator.

This technology is not practical as a fielded weapons system. It is being developed to launch satellites into orbit or objects into space without massive rockets. So, what is wrong with a more cost effective and environmentally friendly launch method?

@tree6014 if people can build these in their garages in a day, im sure the engineering corps for the military can build one in a year that is a practical weapon. not necessarily a hand held weapon but-plant one on a mobile platform and you have a tank, on a boat and you have a destroyer, a tank killer too.
