  • i use strpgenerator

  • is your baby filming this?!?!?!

  • @3lmosThreat Baby. He's my audience.

  • @eddiechinglives cool when he/she grows up he/she will learn to make comics lol

  • Lemem just say this, don't bother with the Ames guide. It's more trouble than it's worth, honestly. I use the Ames guide, and it's a pain in the ass. Even with a really good straight edge, it's a pain... >A<'

  • this isn`t crappy, it`s pretty amazing! keep up the good work!

  • @Diego1999ist Thank you so much. I will.

  • @eddiechinglives no problem. :)

  • lol... "I'll figure it out later." I though i was the only one who does that.

  • cool

  • REVEGGGGGE!

  • thumbs up!

  • No!!! Thank you!!! Even though i'm not an artist I can really appreciate talent. Hope to see more of your creations. Btw what do you think of avengers heroic age?? I just picked it up. Anyway. Once again great videos. P.S.......... BOTTOM LAYER!!!!

  • @alphatan2 Avengers looks cool. I heard that Alan Davis is drawing an Avenger comic. I will most likely check that one out. As for collecting, I'm pretty picky. Image United and any Ashley Wood comic is all that I collect for now. The pinup for the Avengers book you were talking about looks pretty cool. I might have to check it out.

  • @eddiechinglives I am wanting to get into comic book drawing and writing.

I know that the art for it is different. There are a lot of angles and styles much like a storyboard for a movie. Is there any advice you could give for an aspiring artist?

  • @sirchristian12 Study comics. Not just the art. The layout. The shot types. Find out why you like a comic. Find out why you don't like a comic. And most importantly, make your own comics. Dave Sim has so many aspiring words on the subject. Basially, forget perfectionism. Make a comic. Then make another. And another. And another. Do your best and move on to the next page. Each page is a learning experience.

  • @eddiechinglives DaveSim thinks everyone has about 1000 bad pages to get out of their system before they get good. So start making comics on your own. The beauty of being a writer/artist is being the ultimate decider on how your comic will be. No censorship. Another great quote by SIM is everyone wants to draw like Dave Sim now, but they don't want to put in the 30 years that Dave Sim did to get to that point. So keep drawing comics. It's the fastest way to get better.

  • @eddiechinglives The best teacher is the last page you finished. And I try to be like John Ramita Jr. He says the thing he's most excited doing is the next thing he has to do. If he's not excited about it, he should hang it up. But getting a page done is the best way to learn. And do it for joy, because it's really hard to make money in this economy. If you figure it out, let me know. Do it for the love. Because writing and drawing your own stories is the best freedom.

  • Awsome!!! Im So glad I ran into your stuff!!

  • @alphatan2 I'm so glad you gave me such a nice comment. Thanks.

  • hahaha that was actually a joke but sure everyone needs to improve someway. ahahhaah besides my friends and my favorite word is CACA, CACA FACE, CACA MOUNTAIN, basically anything with CACA in it! HAHAHAHAHAAA XD

  • boy you sure love to say CRAP alot!!!! LOL ahahaha XD

  • @DanEddyCinema Yeah. I need to learn better words for expressing my thoughts. I tried writing down and reading and people say it's boring. So I'll try to do better in future posts. Thanks.

  • Love your tutorials! Great help for me- clueless trying to get started putting my husband's pencils into a cohesive unit. Thanks for posting! (my 2yo loved hearing your kid in the background too)

  • Hehe. That's cute. Thanks. Any questions you have, pm me. It's tough getting that first issue together. So tough I haven't done a second one yet.

  • are you a proffesional and if you are what publisher do you work with

  • Not a pro. But that's the beauty of comics. There's nothing stopping anyone from making comics except for themselves. A lot of times, I'd think that maybe when I get published, then I can develop as an artist. But meanwhile, if I was drawing comic pages, I'd be way better off than I am now. The main point is DON'T LET ANYTHING STOP YOU FROM MAKING COMICS. START MAKING THEM RIGHT NOW! You can tell your stories the way YOU want to. No interference.

  • @eddiechinglives I totally agree. I just finished my first full comic. Full color and all. It was hard work but totally worth it. I will hopefully be able to go pro but like you no matter what I will always be making comics whether I make money at it or not

  • Haha! The whole Revege/Revenge this made me laugh. I do the same all the time, but thanks for the video! moving on to Part 3 :D

  • Don't worry, Eddie. I think your tutorials are great. Really inspired me to get on with my own comics.

  • I like you. I like you a lot. You call it like it is. The world needs more informative comments and constructive criticism such as the comment you provided.. I appreciate it. Thanks.

  • uhm i think u mispelled revenge wrong lol buts it ok! we are all human lol still dude ur awesome!

  • lol im just like you I just get a crap load of markers that look cool that i find in Michaels wal-mart even in bargain stores lol check out my vid. about comic making tools you will see what I mean

  • where can i find your comics

  • Where did you lurn how to draw like that?

  • Practice practice practice. Lots of practice, and lot's of influences. My influences are vast, but a few that are relevent to my style are Jhonan Vasquez, Peter Bagge, Adam Warren, and yes, Rob Liefeld.

  • I am almost 30 as well. Sigh! So I'm trying to teach you younger folk to skip some steps so you can draw better faster.

  • i knew it.you draw like the creator of invader zim.i noticed when you said MY REVENGE haha.nice work this helped so much.

  • Indeed. Invader Zim and Flight of the Conchords are the 2 shows I obsess over. And I annoy my wife by quoting those shows constantly. My favorite 2 episodes that I could watch forever are Hamstergedon and Taster of Pork. Brilliant stuff. They should get the writers to make a comic mini-series, drawn by Jhonan or other story board artists from the show. Too bad comics don't sell, and there's hardly any money in it. But there is so much artistic freedom and expression. No filters or compromise.

  • i know haha,i love hamstergedon.i understand you completely.i want to start making comics,i know there isn't much money in them now like there used to be in the 50s,and most people don't buy or read them, but i've always wanted to make comics.anyway great job showing how to make a comic book.

  • oh by the way you spelled revenge wrong ha just joking.

  • Lots of practice and lots of artistic influences.

  • the writing is the hard part

  • Get several pads of paper to jot down ideas whenever they come to you. I always like playing the "wouldn't it be funny if" or "wouldn't it be cool if". And study writing formulas and techniques. Dissect the stories you like and figure out how to write stories similar to the interests you like.

  • i have lke 500 pages of a comic series.. only have character sketchings. never actualy tried to make the comic on my own.

  • Hey man, nice tutorials, and your comic looks very funny. :] So i was wondering how to write everything that people say i a comic and i saw that you make lines to make them straight so u don't mess up,is that right?

  • is there anyway i can check your comics any where?

  • ur awesome, thanks for your vids. I'm new to comics, and you make super duper great tutorials for us newbies who want to learn! thanks alot

  • U are sooooooooooooo good at explaining

    It helped A lot

I think I gonna watch your panel layout cause i SUCK at panels

    And i am subscribing

  • i like the way you draw and evrything but i was wonderingcan you show me how to draw photorealistic for my comics

  • Try tracing photos. Or taking photos and using them as a basis. Or swipe photos from movies. I don't draw that way, so I can't show you. I have thought of making a comic with high contrast black and white photography. I've seen other people try it, but they mess up by forgetting about the layout stage, so it tends to look bland. Maybe I'll do a vid on that sometime. But I have a dayjob, so don't hold your breath. Inspiring though. Thanks.

  • is there a way i can read ur comics.

  • I'd like to thank you, wanting to jump in and do a script i wrote as a comic this is fantastic help.

  • Thanks. Just starting it and going onto the next page is the hardest part. Keep cranking it out. Then let me know when it's done. Link me some samples when you are done.

  • your cool and funny i hope u like black people!!!

  • What a nice and random statement. Thanks, and of coarse I do.

  • what the...Lol what does that have to do with anything?...

  • cool. Im stuck tho, i make comic strips, pages or whatever better when i dont write them on script first. But i feel cheap when i do that, should i write it out or should i just draw and think whatever comes along?

  • You don't have to write them out. I think that's where I'm getting stuck with my second issue. A comic can be created either script first, or art first. I think that's how Sergio Aragones worked on Groo. He did all the plotting on the page, and then Mark Evanier did the dialogue. Since Sergio English wasn't as perfect as Serg would like.

Ultimately, there's no right way to make a comic. As long as you are MAKING the comic. Not producing art is definately the WRONG WAY to make a comic.

  • have you ever thought of getting a longer ruler?!hahahahahahaha! just kidding.

  • My wife says 6 inches is long enough. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh! Anyways, if you make it past a few more parts, God have mercy on you, I bust out the EXPENSIVE RULER. It's 18 inches. Yeah, I'm definitely overcompensating.

  • i hears a baby in da backgwoundz!!!!

  • That would be my 1 year old at the time. My little mini-Ed McMahan if you will.

  • thats not crappy its good

  • I laughed so hard when you said you were ready to go the inking stage, but revenge was spelled wrong! Hahahaha.

  • Dude, you wouldn't believe how many people have mentioned that in a smart-alicky way. But it's my own dumb-assiness that's to blame.

  • lol I know man, but it really is heaps funny. It is a good tutorial though, you inspired me heaps!

  • Love your videos, man. Glad I found them. Keep striving.

  • man u comic drawers are like between 25 and 40 man your old

im 15 i can draw charecter both manga and comic but i dont know how to make a comic page........why why does this mean i need to practice another 15 years to make comic stories(cry very loud)

  • Thanks pal. Rub it in. I've been doing this lack-lusterly since I was younger than you. Hopefully, with vids like mine and others, you can skip a few steps that took me years to learn. But to earn a living at this, it's highly competitive, and extremely hard. I make more money with my day-job than most average comic professionals do. But with the power of comics, you can tell your kind of mini-movie stories the way you want to tell them, with no filter.

  • i think u spelled revenge wrong...no mean to critisize though

  • this helps a lot bro thanks

  • man stop saying your comics and tools are crappy cuz theyre not.

maybe for you it looks like shit but for us it looks pretty nice.

you dont need good artwork if you got good storys.

so stop whining about crappy shit.

you only make it harder for yourself that way :)

  • um, i think he was kind of kidding. :/

  • Yep. I figure if I beat the mean posters to the punchline, when someone says,"You make crappy videos and your work sucks" (which they have) I can simply say "Yeah, it's called Crappy Comic Tutorial, what did you expect?"

  • revenge!!!

  • This is like Sam the Cooking Guy, but for making comics.

    Nice stuff!

  • Honestly this is a perfect way to get started and used to comics. Its a easy fast way and if you want to do it professional it's a basic way to start. Very good video.

  • Thanks, and I'd really like to see any comics from you or anyone else that comments on my videos! Messege me some links guys!

  • lol "revege" ha ha

  • where can I get a copy of you comic?

  • You forgot the N in Revenge. xD

But this is a great tutorial. Thanks for uploading.

  • I have a rough draft for a comic book.This was very helpful.Thanks.

  • this did help me for skool IT SUCKS :p

  • Learn to english pal!!!!!!!!!!

  • I just used whatever looked good to me. I eyeballed it. It could be the 1/16th side, or the centemeter side. I just started making knotches. My lettering might be too big by comic standards, so just find some knotches that work for your that you are comfortable lettering with.

  • What measurment is the one space two space thingy?

  • That would be my son as my Andy Rictor or Ed McMahn if you will. But he doesn't say HIOOOOO, he just babbles and drools.

  • Oh.

  • Is someone with you?

  • his young child

  • Interesting. Myself, I make cartoon videos for my songs...very amateurish. Some of your points will help me...so thanks.

  • nice drawing XD

  • Is this your job.Because if it is , then thats awsome. Also if it is, How much do you get paid.

  • LOL. Hahahahahahahahahaaaa. Paid.... you're a funny guy. Yeah, with my...um...skill level, and the state that american comics and economics are, I make more money in my day job then I could ever making my own comics. And that was if I was decent AND could handle monthly deadlines. I made about $21 overall, and with print costs and shipping, I gained a net earnings of 10 bucks so far! Wooo hoo! The money sure does roll right in!!!

  • Yeah, people in overall dont become comic creator to get rich, more for the fact of it being a hell of a fun job/hobby to do

  • Most people create comics for the escapism or to allow their imagination to run wild.

  • Is this your job.Because if it is , then thats awsome. Also if it is, How much do you get paid.

  • is that your baby in the background?

  • Yes, and aparently he says "what the hell" at 3:50.

  • dude, stop swearing around you're kid.

  • wait... why??? Keeping information from children??? That would make them dumber than us!

  • dude did i just hear a young kid say "what the hell" at 3:50

  • Hehe. If so, it is the first phrase he's ever said, and he's still not saying phrases. But it wouldn't be too hard for him to pick that phrase up around me.

  • That's pretty funny, it does sound like that. I gotta watch my language around this kid.

  • Time to get the belt.

  • umm not to be a jerk or anything but in the first panel you misspelled revenge.. but this is a great help love the vid

  • Don't worry. If you scrolled down, 27 people also pointed that out to me. I...uh...did it on purpose. Yeah. That's it. It was a joke. I did get an extra page out of that mistake.

  • ohh well i didn't see the other comments but heh yeah i see that now u were umm testing us? yes well i hope i passed

  • Don't worry. You passed. But barely. F+. (Tenacious D reference for those who don't know about The D)

  • what kind of pen did u use to tighten up?

  • I think its some kind of cheap mechanical pencil I got from a dollar store. I think it was either .5 or .7. I dont know which. Any mechanical .5 pencil will do. You dont have to get a crappy one like I did.

  • this isn't crrappy its a good tutorial thanks im making a comic and this is helping

  • Thanks for the kind comment. The real tip is to just do it with the supplies you feel comfortable. And don't let your artistic abillity aka perfectionism stop you from making comics. "Just sit down and do the work."--Jack Kirby

  • nice advice

  • I use markers, that way, it doesn't splatter on my paper. Sorry to hear your comic got a bunch of happy accidents on it. Maybe you can clean it up on photoshop, or trace over it with tracing paper and try again.

  • this is my only question, why do you ink it,i thought

inking was cool but when i inked mine it splattered all over the page and messed up my comic, but maybe you published it did you?

  • Thank You SO MUCH!!!! I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS SINCE LAST WEEK!!! THNX FOR UPLOADING!!!!!!!!!

  • I just eyeball it. It's all a matter of taste. I don't like huge gaps between panels, so I settle for about 1/8th of an inch. Two knotches on my ruler.

  • hey man, nice videos! i just got a question. how big are the gaps/borders between the pictures?

  • excellent work...

  • LOL u spelled revenge wrong xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • Yeah. In my last vid, I even break down and give him a cookie.

  • aw thats cute xDDD

  • lol, is that your kid in the background?
