@CeciliaLucretiaBadea We are fortunate the he played enough to make some good recordings... but it's a shame he didn't do more. I know some of his students and they were very happy to work with him.

What a marvel to find this!I'd given up hope of hearing anything of Turini ever again-no discs or films...As a teenager i heard him play a BBC Radio recital including the Balakirev Sonata which marked me for life and set an impossible standard for anyone who followed. His Hindemith 2nd sonata had the same effect.Here he sounds on fine form and the ears soon get used to the somewhat clanky recorded sound.Thank you so much for sharing.

I seem to recall that this recital also included the Ginastera Sonata (there was only one at that time!) and some Bach-Busoni...am I correct? And if so, would you be willing to post some of that? I have always loved Turini's sound. I saw him play in Honolulu just before he took the job in London and he said pretty much what you suggested-that the touring lifestyle did not appeal to him.

@Musicaespressivo There is some Bach-Buson from this recital; the Ginastera is from another recital in 1969, which a student of Turini's just gave me last week. I don't have that record digitized yet, but I have some other ones transfered, and I will be posting them...but I have a few things to prepare before those. Stay tuned!
