This has to be one of the most awesome collections of talent ever!
Paul Shaffer played with the Original Blues Brothers in the 70s; as did Steve Cropper, Dunn, Matt "Guitar" Murphy (who owns a bar in Denver), Lou Marini, Alan Rubin! Great to see Delbert McClinton up there! And of course: Elwood Blues!
as far as anyone knows it was just the Audio that was captured at the Universal Amphitheatre, however a Video May exist although nobody in the Blues brothers fan community has found it
I really think of him as an advocate for the blues and old soul music. As a singer, he is just not very good. Listen to music of the supporting cast in the movie, for example.
It's so great to see this. One of my fav BB charts.
Sure looks like the original BB band, including Akroyd, Paul Shaffer, Duck Dunn, Matt Murphy, Blue Lou, Alan Rubin, Tom Bones Malone and Steve Cropper.
That's the point I was making at the time. McClinton's tune, period. Blues Brothers were only covering it. Yep, Akroyd plays a good harp but not even close to Delbert.
poor lighting. I see Matt Murphy, Steve Cropper, Delbert, but is that Akroyd playing back up harp for Delbert? Can't see who's on piano either. He'p me!
@3.12 is that george lucas on bass?

John Belushi still had the best vocals on this and Shot Gun Blues!
sugarpuddin88 2 years ago 2
Belushi was a poor imitation of this guy and the guy from Downchild. Sorry.

The band is astonishing. In the early 80s, Paul Shafer played with the band
I like Delbert McClinton and have seen him live
Regarding your interesting comment, in what way do you feel that McClinton is better here on Box Car Blues than Belushi?

I really love the band line up - It would be great to see a lot of talent like that put together today
I think one of my fav songs (to sing) is Shotgun Blues
Monet paintings are an "interpretation" of reality - It is not created in the contexts of accuracy; but rather created to convey an emotion
I think good blues vocals have that ability to convey emotional content
I think of howling by Koko Taylor; the deep eerie voice of Johnny Lee Hooker, or the indescribable ambiance of Howlin Wolf

Albanians just aren't funky enough.

To whom were you referring here??? Delbert?? I sure hope not, because you'd be wrong ... he's a superb blues singer.

I was referring to John Belushi. Read my comment before that.

If only Belushi were still around.

Delbert McClinton (harp) wasn't in the group at the time, but he sure pulls it off ...

About three months after the Blues Brothers, Delbert McClinton and his band were the musical guests on SNL, and he did "B Movie". It's HIS song.
