My AK didn't come with a sling swivel mount and I'm thinking of mounting it the way you mount it instead of the typical way. Also, the tube for the cleaning kit is in the bottom half, so I don't think I can mount it the typical way as the screw will go into the tube.

One thing not elaborated here but clearly demonstrated by Mr. Puzikas is that you do your reload right in front of your face and look downrange at all times.
@MaxAC40 If it helps, 5.56/5.45 is more accurate, w/ 5.45 being markedly cheaper and with milsurp ammo, it is capable of some really nasty wound effects. 7.62x39 hits a lot harder, blows bigger holes in people and can knock down walls (check youtube!) Pricewise, it is more expensive than 5.45 and about the same as 5.56. Personally, I hope to avoid shooting someone at all costs, so, w/ the economy as it is, expense is the deciding factor for me.
@GirlsGamesGunsGuitar I have to disagree with you on the 7.62x39 part. They don't make larger wounds in humans. In fact, they have rather banal wound profiles. They don't tumble in people, so a hollow-point or softpoint is a necessity to cause any respectable trauma. With full metal jackets, the wound track is similar to that of a 32-35 caliber pistol. just sayin'.
@megatron515 Hmm, well when we tested our gel was calibrated to 3.4 which is optimum, so I like my results. You may be looking at FirearmsTactical, they say a lot of things. The philosophy is correct in them, but the numbers a fake. A lot of people are baffled by this.

This DVD is 2 hours 46 minutes of highly condensed training that would take a person years to master. I can fully appreciate the beauty behind basing the Saiga shotgun and the SVD around the AK platform now: no new "system" to teach a soldier, just master the one system (Kalashnikov platform) and the rest is semantics. Very nicely done, Sonny. This is pure gold. Now if you will excuse me, I have to teach myself to be ambidextrous.
This guy is such a bad ass! Puzikas rules. One of the goals in my life is to have at least one Systema seminar with Puzikas as teacher. The thing that surprises me most about him is that his English is gramatically flat-out perfect with a very slight accent. Very impressive, considering he served in the Soviet Armed Forces - in the Soviet Union, they did not teach English at schools. I don't know for Spetsnaz, maybe they did, they had to operate behind enemy lines.
All of those Magazine changes look cool as well as fluid and I always did wonder why some of the magazines were taped together in opposite directions.

@88warwolf I have no idea why we Americans defend the AR platform. We went from the M1 Garand and the M14 rifle, which are uber reliable rifles to a rifle that lacks a gas piston system that constantly fouls and jams. Yes we Americans have attached a stigma to the AK as a "bad guy" gun. But I own one and it is bullet proof. So even with out a bolt catch, the AK is going to be up and running ALOT more than a AR is......I guarantee it. The Russians kept the course of reliability, we have strayed.

I work with the AR platform in my hands on a daily basis. But fact of the matter is, that the AK is still a real and significant contender on the modern battlefield.

I have seen a lot of people shoot this weapon system, and they all sucked. Its easy to tell that this guy has years of real experience with this weapon system.
i can cycle ak just as fast as ar since the charging handle doesnt make me take the point of aim off unlike your retarded charging handle. also, it took me 5 minutes to teach my gf to operate an ak effectively. it took at least a few hours to get her to understand ar15. this was just an airsoft game tho. but if it were a real life situation where i had to train family an ar15 would get them killed. too complicated.ak is a great shtf gun for that reason.

Unlike most of the people commenting, I have actually trained with Sonny. I attended his AK course and it was excellent. It was quite tough and the mindset was focused upon fighting, not enterTRAINment. Why don't you put your money where your mouth is and attend a course? If you do, you will see that Sonny (which is his Americanized name) is a martial artist.
Sonny, if you ever head down to the Tampa Bay area, there are a lot of people in the Dojang I work at and elsewhere that would attend a workshop/seminar.

I was considering buying a 102/104/105 model kalashnikov clone.
I would take the 5.56 over 5.45 just so I could share ammo between the AR and AK, but can't decide on whether I should go with the 5.56 or 7.62

@88warwolf I had to buy and use an AK to really start to appreciate how utterly ignorant this kind of commentary actually is. Both weapon systems have advantages and draw backs. Larry Vickers loves closed bolt guns, just say'n. When you're shitting your pants under fire you might find your fine motor skills are a bit lacking. Also, I've seen AK mag's changed in a second. Do a search on You Tube for "AK-47 Emergency Reload-Pahrump, NV" and feel you big mouth going shut.

I an getting so tired of hearing Call of Duty playing, internet educated morons go on and on about the ak vs ar.
I work with the AR platform in my hands on a daily basis. But fact of the matter is, that the AK is still a real and significant contender on the modern battlefield.
This is truly The lost art of the AK.
I have seen a lot of people shoot this weapon system, and they all sucked. Its easy to tell that this guy has years of real experience with this weapon system.

i can cycle ak just as fast as ar since the charging handle doesnt make me take the point of aim off unlike your retarded charging handle. also, it took me 5 minutes to teach my gf to operate an ak effectively. it took at least a few hours to get her to understand ar15. this was just an airsoft game tho. but if it were a real life situation where i had to train family an ar15 would get them killed. too complicated.ak is a great shtf gun for that reason.

@88warwolf AK-47's are designed for people who actually , pay attention there's a keyword here, "FIGHT" with their guns...like as in Wars and stuff, as an Infantry Marine who has fought in a combat zone, I know and have seen this. These dvd's look very helpful. I play airsoft with an AKM ,and while shooting is very different, the reloads and the transitions look like something I should be able to do. Not that anything I do for recreation even holds a candle to what Sonny does, but I appreciate the tips anyway.

Unlike most of the people commenting, I have actually trained with Sonny. I attended his AK course and it was excellent. It was quite tough and the mindset was focused upon fighting, not enterTRAINment. Why don't you put your money where your mouth is and attend a course? If you do, you will see that Sonny (which is his Americanized name) is a martial artist.

i think cz-75 is the ak of the handguns - most widely used,simple,original,cheap,metal and wood.....glock is to muck plastic,to mush accurate and to much futuristic design to be an ak representative in handguns,but hey,that is just my opinion.....i respect yours opinion,and i have one more question,i can buy sig sauer p226 elite or glock with wilson combat job on it (barrel,sights and finish).....would you stil recommend glock.....yes sig is more expensive,but glock has the worst grip shape?
