You should hve said rings instead of coins and the boss you were fighting in flying battery zone is easier if you just walk or spin dash off of him. It doesnt matter which arm is crashing down you will dodge it and this is so much easier than trying to time and jump the arms. Also the eyes flash when hes about to attack. Great review though and S3&K is the best sonic around and much better than any 3D sonic game.
You can also put other genesis games on the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge to play special stage levels. If the cartridge you tried is compatible you'll get a screen saying "Sonic and Friends? No Way!"
I'm not 100% sure if that's a exact quote or not, its something similar though.
