@DjDickDirt That's one thing that bummed me out about Madden; it's impossible to create Barry Sanders. If there was a rating for "Creative Running", you could set that to 300, and maybe you'd get something similar. Video games can only do so much.
barry sanders is awesome sorry payton but, barry didnt have a line and he still did good. if he wouldn't have retired he would have the best record right now.
Sweetness 's record of 275 yrds rushing in a game has since been eclisped, but what many people don't realize, is that Walter did this in only 3 QUARTERS!!!! the Coach took Walter out of the game or else he would have been the 1st and prehaps,ONLY back to rush for 300 yards in a NFL game. COACH ARMSTRONG, YOU SUCK..BEST RUNNING BACK EVER.
@SUPERJESUSWARRIOR In my opinion Sanders was the greatest running back ever but you cant go wrong with Payton either....I think Adrain Peterson when its all said and done might be up there if he doesnt get hurt
@lilzack24 Payton could leg press 1,000 pounds with ONE leg, 3 reps each, Payton played with bad offensive lines, but as far as being the most elusive, Barry Sanders is the most ELUSIVE back of all time.ill give him that much my friend because he was also stopped behind the line of scrimmage more than any back in history but i gotta say another elusive back's name....... HON. MENTION.....GAYLE SAYERS
@gobears541 Notice how Payton would always get up fast after being tackled? no matter how hard, how brutal, how bone crunching or how vicious the tackle was, Sweetness always popped up off the ground as if it didnt hurt.Only ONCE in 11 years did i see the legend get up slow, but the huge powerful Jim Brown, got up slow on Almost every play literally.and NOONE could spring up over a pile and land on their head like Sweetness did. The best EVER.Sorry, Barry.
im a die hard clemson fan go to every game i was in a store in clemson u may not be familiar with clemson's freshman WR sammy watkins but hes amazing anyway, his nickname is deuce. well there was a shirt in that store that said sammy aka sweetness. a man walked up to the counter and said 'how dare u write sweetness on that shirt? that nickname belongs to a legend. im not even a fan of the bears but hes the greatest runningback ever.' props to that guy.
@SUPERJESUSWARRIOR Bias bears fan has spoken? Was he great yes he sure was, but he was not the best of all time. Sadly Bo Jackson's career was cut so short because he was undoubtedly the most gifted athlete to ever play sports. You can not pick out a player and say they are the best off all time. Emmit's longevity, Barry consistency, Campbells power, Peyton was all around and intimidating. All great players.
Garrison Hearst's vs the Jets is defintley the best run in NFL history. The moment it happened, the raw strength he put to break all those tackles, the run itself, and the end of the run was just exciting.
Not to say that when ANY team played against the Lions, Defense gameplan: Stop Barry Sanders. AND HE STILL RUSHED FOR 2k yds in a season. He quit at his prime, lord only knows what the record books would say if he played out his career.
@Celphhog Bottom line, itsmybunny1 is an idiot. Both are great runningbacks needless to say. Both are amazing. Go to NFL.com and type in Barry Sanders in the videos section and every analyst will tell you that the Lions O-line was nonexistent. Even if he had -1114 yards, those were tacked onto his stats and he still has 14k rushing yards. Does that not speak for itself? Before BS came to the Lions they had only made post season like once. But during his 10 years there... 5x
If you are comparing Barry sanders to Walter Payton clearly Barry sanders was a better pure running back. Barry sanders was on the Lions a terrible team, Walter was on a team that won a super bowl . Walter 16,726 Barry had 15,269 rushing yards...Walter played 3 more years with a better team then Barry played on such a shitty team and had no chance to even make the playoffs yet he still dominated the league, Walter is lucky to still have that record.. Walter was great but Barry was the greatest
@Celphhog alright here i go...1st payton is 10x more versatile. 2nd payton was a full time runningback, he didnt lose yards so you could give him the ball on 3rd and 4th downs(barry has negative 1114 yards). 3rd Barry couldnt play in bad weather, outdoors. 4th barry isnt a goal line player, 5th. Walter payton had a worse of a team and took them to the superbowl, The lions had 1 hof lineman and 2 pro bowl, while the bears had 2 pro bowl after the 84 season. 6. Payton was a leader, no more space..
@itsmybunny1 Wait wait... You think The bears were as bad as the lions... that is ridiculous man, how can you think something like that? Please tell me which is the Lions hall of fame line men? Barry was a better back he had no line no QB or anything Walter had a great team and was a great runner... I use to think Walter was a better back until I looked at my facts... And how do you expect to win when you do not have a team... There is no player that can do that Football is a team
@itsmybunny1 Sport. And Barry was extremely driven how do you expect to be consider the one of the best all time and not be driven? Look at his runs man there is no good blocking.. look at his collage footage he had blockers and he ran threw the holes and took advantage of them when he got them and was amazing... I actually am astonished of some of the things you said. I can understand if you think Walter is better but to say that stuff about Barry is very off. No football analyst
@itsmybunny1 If you read it in order and together it makes sense... And you realize the 1985 bears had one of the best defenses of all time with Mike Singletary leading it... sounds like a bad team and considerably one of the best seasons of all time... 15-1 do you know anything about the 1985 Bears? Not to offend but it is ridiculous saying that was a worse team then the Detroit Lions. Please get those facts straight man.
@Celphhog your talking to me as if walter payton joined the nfl in the 85 season. The only time the bears were good was 84-85. Barry had a pro bowl/hof lineman and a pro bowl wr, while walter payton never played with a pro bowl wr,qb,te his whole career, although jim mchanon was the only pro bowl qb once during the 85 season, although he didnt deserve it because it was the team all together that made him look good. if you look at the 85 team there all the same people from the 70 bears
@Celphhog if it wasnt for payton i dont think the bears would have one superbowl at all. He stayed With his team they were 4-12 when he first got there, and they were in last in the division for like every single year, until payton started to become a leader. Payton was a bigger impact then barry on the field and off.
@Celphhog and most importantly barry didnt have even have half the determination payton had, and barry sanders always choked when the games counted, for example the playoffs.
@itsmybunny1 Who is the the pro bowl Line men? seriously I never heard of them... And that is ridiculous of you saying that Barry didn't have determination to be consider one of the best of all time you have determination every run Barry and determination.... And he barely had a chance to choke on big games... I have never heard one football analyst that says Barry Sanders had a good line it just is not true. Like I do not understand how you can say Walter had a worse team when
@itsmybunny1 I know they made it more then that but they barely made the playoffs and for a fact it takes a whole team to win games.... Not one player. So I am saying they had one productive season where they could go far but the rest the seasons they had was not fit to do well in the play offs.
No O.J. Simpson, Billy Sims, Ottis Anderson, Joe Washington, Ahman Green, Chuck Foreman, Earl Campbell, etc.....but you have Favre throwing a pass (granted his escape was excellent!)?
Good video & kudos for not putting shit music to the clip!
Those r some bad ass Katz, those RB play there hearts out. A righteous man did the right thing (Barry Sanders) her retire. He's a strong man to do what he thought is best not o break: (sweetness) the late Walter Payton. I remember seeing Walter play in his days, when I was a kid, goo man, also Bo Jackson, Eric Dickerson, Randall Cunningham, great quarterback, and running back from the chiefs, last name Thomas. Sorry my memory so-so. Great kats
Go Packers! R.I.P. Brett's ability. He was so awesome, but he got caught up in the media, and got hit SO hard by the saints, i feel sorry for him... :(
Go Pack Go! (R.I.P. Brett's ability..... he was SO awesome, but now he got caught up in all of this stuff and he got hit so hard by the saints that he lost it all. I feel sorry for him.)
@willis6661 Sanders was great....so was Payton.... so was Brown....So was Harris..... So was Smith....So was Thomas.... So was Dickerson. Discussion far from closed. God love 'em all. I'm partial to Payton for sure though. Course I AM from Chi-town. If you are a football fan, you would love watching any of them run! Great players for sure!
@itsmybunny1 Barry could catch and he was a good blocker contrary to popular beliefs. And he did better than Walter Payton in what matters most for runningbacks: Running. Sure, Walter Payton was better rounded and I would prefer to have him on my team (Mostly because the team I root for is pass happy), but Barry is the better runner.
Why does throwing matter? He's a runningback, not a quarterback.
@shiron236 walter payton better all around player, better runner, way more reliable then barry sanders (negative 1114 yards). why is throwing matter? the bears didnt have to have a 3rd qb because of him are you dumb? even him being good at covering matters, then they can use him as a corner too?
@itsmybunny1 He had an absolutely AWFUL offensive line if you ever saw him play. And no, don't try to pull the "well, he had a pro bowl offensive lineman before." Yeah, he did, but four guys didn't come to play and only one did. I rather have five average o-linemen than one good and four bad o-linemen. It's a teamsport. And yeah, that's not a very intelligent thing to do. Have your best offensive player play cornerback and let him get hurt. We're talking about runningbacks, not quarterbacks.
@shiron236 umm what? Walter Payton had a worse of an offensive line then barry sanders, then in the 1985-1987 season payton finally played with 1 pro bowl lineman. guess what? walter payton never played with a pro bowl qb,te,wr his whole career. barry sanders team was better then payton, without payton the bears would of never been 18-1, and im telling you walter payton could play every position with his eyes closed and do better then barry, payton was a better runner, and a way more versatile.
@itsmybunny1 Whos gives a fuck! thats why you hire a reciever to catch and lineman to fucking block. now shut up with your stupid comment because barry was a better runner than payton and i dnt care if he cant catch or block thats why its called a fucking RUNNING back so they run
@greenddayjack97 so then why does barry have NEGATIVE 1114 yards rushing, since runningbacks run? Not only he couldnt do half of half the things payton did, but he also could lose some hards dont you think? i dont except you to answer because i dont know what there is to argue for seeing payton was clearly better. dumbass
@itsmybunny1 Don't bring up the negative yards thing for Sanders... you are embarassing yourself... seeing that even with all those negative yards, he was still over a half yard better per attempt than Walter. Sanders averaged more yards from scrimmage per season than Payton (1,819 vs 1,635) and averaged more touchdowns per season than Payton (10.9 vs 9.6). They are both top 5 of all time, and to say one was "clearly better" is just ridiculous, seeing the offensive production stats favor Barry.
@shock1974 payton is a better all time rb. Sanders couldnt get the ball on 3rd and 4th. Barry Gave up football, yea he says he got tired, but who said its true? People say payton did steriods who said its true? Mabye barry sanders couldnt take it no more, if you think about it name 1 nfl player besides barry that quit because "they lost love". Payton had more heart which alone is no argument to who is better.
@itsmybunny1 Payton and Barry had similar amounts of carries per season. Also, the Bears in 70s/80s ALWAYS had Suhey or another FB getting 100-150 carries per season. So Walter "gave up" the ball plenty of times as well. I'm not trying to take anything away from Walter, but Barry deserves his props and neither is clearly better. Also, Barry quit because he had met Earl Campbell and didn't want to end up being a crippled man with destroyed legs at the age of 45... like Campbell and many others.
@shock1974 idk barry sanders never was a contact player so i don't know how he could have destroyed legs lol. You cant talk for him why he quit, he said he lost the love of this game he didn't say he wanted his legs to be destroyed. Its hard to believe he lost the love, because again name me one player who quit because he lost the love of the game.
@itsmybunny1 lol, I can't talk for him... but you can? Yes, he stated that he lost his passion for the game (and part of the stated reason I have read was because he feared long term damage after meeting Campbell, planting and making ridiculous cuts on concrete Silverdome turf will punish your legs/knees, pretty sure it was in his autobiography). Either way, his stats showed him being VERY productive until the end of career, more productive over a ten year span than anyone in history.
I Love "Bo". I wish he had the opportunity to play a full career. It would've been interesting to see where he fit it on the all-time great RBs list. There's no question that a healthy "Bo" would've at that time over-shaddowed Deion Sanders as the much better 2-sport athlete. Deion's fame took a boost with Bo's career ending injury. Bo shattered Deion in Baseball, even though they both were great at their own positions in football. However, Deion couldn't tackle fly-weights let alone "Bo".
Even though Emmit Smith holds the record, he's not even in the top 5 all time. Barry Sanders was the most elusive running back in NFL history; Bo Jackson could have been it's greatest of all time with his raw combination of speed and power; Walter Payton is way better than Smith and so is Jim Brown. This video sucks if for no other reason than Jim Brown wasn't in it. 1) Sanders 2) Brown 3) Payton 4) Sayers or Bo Jackson 5/6) Dickerson. At best, Smith is 7th. Stats don't mean greatness.
@TheGodofSteel I agree pretty much to a T with your order of great RBs, and that stats don't mean greatness, not all by themselves. I remember in 93' when the Cowboys started the season 0-2 while Emmitt held out. He signed, then Dallas won 7 straight on their way to a 12-4 record and back to back titles. He has 3 Super Bowl rings. But it’s so debatable that it’s like how can you bump down Payton or Brown, or even Sayers? But it’s interesting to think of the greats and how people rank them.
The greatest RB of all-time is debatable. After Emmitt Smith broke the all-time rushing record, he even conceded that Barry Sanders is the greatest and that he'd hold the record if he didn't retire after just 10 years. Jim Brown played so long ago now, that more recent greats seem to make him overlooked. But he is still a consideration. Walter Payton certainly is another. These 4 guys should get most votes with honorable mention to: Eric Dickerson, Marshall Faulk, and Tony Dorsett
michael jordan doesn't have the all-time scoring record... HE'S still crowned as the greatest... so why can't football fans come to grips with the idea that numbers aren't everything? barry sanders is the best runningback of all time. just look at the show he put on every sunday for 10 seasons... and statistically speaking, he would have the record with about 2-3 more seasons
The Bears had no Q.B in the 1970's, they had no line in the 70's, they had no receivers in the 70's, but they had WALTER, and every team they played said , all we have to do is game plan to stop him. Well, they couldn't, and he would get his 100 yards, game in and game out. He was the greatest of all time! The moves, that power, that stiff arm, the great blocking, and catching. QUITE SIMPLY, THE GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME. R.I.P MY HERO!!!!
@fan4life34 Barry Sanders QUIT right before he was able to beat walters record. He was only a few yards behind. He decided quit just like that, because he didn't want to play for a record. He wanted to play for the love of the game. There is no RB in NFL history that is greater than Barry Sanders.
Sanders had the best jukes, walter payton is the best RB to ever lace up a pair of cleats. Emmit has the best statistics but he was on a much better team for most of his career and had better lineman. Emmit also played 2 more seasons that Payton.
Well first of all the clip says best runs ever not best running backs ever... Based on the quantity and quality of their amazing runs my top three would be 1. Walter Payton 2. Bo Jackson 3. Barry Sanders - But for running backs as a whole 1. Emmitt Smith 2. Walter Payton 3. Barry Sanders - Honorable mention to Eric Dickerson & Tony Dorsett

Where is the damn music. What silly stupid ass put the music to this video, they need to be fired and put on an uncharted island with esther off sanford and son and have only fish and seaweed to eat.
When talking about the bets NFL Rushers of all time, Emmitt Smith is statistically the best...and yes, I am a Cowboys fan. But, if you're talking about the best Running Back with or without an Offensive Line, ya better look to Barry Sanders. Voted most elusive Back of all-time. Pro Bowl in ALL of his 10 seasons in the league, one of the few Rushers in history to break 2000 yards, and the only Back I've ever heard of to never miss a game due to injury.
Too many to put hear but I highly encourage those not putting Payton as top RB to take some serious time and run the full and complete contributing stats inclusive of each offensive line player in front of each running back e.g. pro-bowlers, team playoff appearances etc, and you'll see that no one, not even as far back as Jim Brown can compare or did as much with so little than what Payton was able to achieve. Only then, will you see the full truth and all contributing factors to an RB's stats.
@Jerrico71 Payton had several pro-bowlers blocking for him from '84 on. Sanders had 1 pro-bowler, for 2 years. I respect Sweetness very much, but Sanders > Payton.
@Starchaser10 WP only had 2 pro-bowlers for '85 & '86 & 1 his last year of '87. BS had a pro-bowler on the line for 8 years of his career. '95 he had 2 pro-bowlers. Not to deduct from BS's elusive highlight shown talent but when you tally the runs & watch & compare all archived research footage you'll see that in reality most of BS's runs were through holes made for him i.e. no contact, allowing for bigger gains with fewer runs. The bulk of WP's were 3yds after getting caught @ -2. JB approved.
Music sucks. Why do all the videos end before the whole run? Pissy video, and don't say "look at the views bro," because the views have nothing to do with the "full" popularity. Someone can view it and then stop watching it. Your title is misleading. It should read "NFL's Greatest Runs of All-Time...Which are cut short and edited to sucky music." LMFAO....FOOOOOOLLLLL!!!!!
This was really lame. Figures that it comes from "PackersFan4ever96". You call this Greatest Runs of All Time? Yet you don't show Walter Payton's run versus the Chiefs where he breaks a gazillion tackles. You show Favre? What about Steve Young's run against the Vikings? Oh, wait a sec, you're a Packers fan. Marcus Allen's Super Bowl run versus the 'Skins. Yeah, you put SOME of the greatest but I would go back and do some editing LOL

@dadujunior, True what you say but we can't extrapolate what his final numbers would have been had he had a longer career....the rAiders he was with at that time in his career was a much better group than the lions of the sanders era....comparison you are trying to make isn't valid on all levels....
choice of runs: all except for Favre....really didn't consider he scrambling as running as what the RBs did...maybe you could have put Favre in with other QBs...
There was never a running back that was a threat like bo jackson ever.He was the fastest could run over your linrbackers, and dust your safety's and d'b's. He had all of the greatest running backs top qualities rolled into one.better competition than browns era, hard hitting like cambell and payton, fast as darrel green.Didn't run run back and forth like sanders and gain 3 yards. He gained 90 plus and a t.d instead.:)
The music really wasnt that bad. At least it wasnt the prototypical song like Drowning Pool, or Eye of the Tiger like every single other compilation video. I thought it was well made. If you have an issue with the music, then mute the video and play something else.
this compilation is crazy.. resolution sucks, music sucks.. but the compilation is still crazy

I actually am astonished of some of the things you said. I can understand if you think Walter is better but to say that stuff about Barry is very off. No football analyst

itsmybunny1 5 months ago
@itsmybunny1 If you read it in order and together it makes sense... And you realize the 1985 bears had one of the best defenses of all time with Mike Singletary leading it... sounds like a bad team and considerably one of the best seasons of all time... 15-1 do you know anything about the 1985 Bears? Not to offend but it is ridiculous saying that was a worse team then the Detroit Lions. Please get those facts straight man.
Celphhog 5 months ago
@Celphhog your talking to me as if walter payton joined the nfl in the 85 season. The only time the bears were good was 84-85. Barry had a pro bowl/hof lineman and a pro bowl wr, while walter payton never played with a pro bowl wr,qb,te his whole career, although jim mchanon was the only pro bowl qb once during the 85 season, although he didnt deserve it because it was the team all together that made him look good. if you look at the 85 team there all the same people from the 70 bears
itsmybunny1 5 months ago
@Celphhog if it wasnt for payton i dont think the bears would have one superbowl at all. He stayed With his team they were 4-12 when he first got there, and they were in last in the division for like every single year, until payton started to become a leader. Payton was a bigger impact then barry on the field and off.
itsmybunny1 5 months ago
@Celphhog and most importantly barry didnt have even have half the determination payton had, and barry sanders always choked when the games counted, for example the playoffs.
itsmybunny1 5 months ago
@itsmybunny1 Who is the the pro bowl Line men? seriously I never heard of them... And that is ridiculous of you saying that Barry didn't have determination to be consider one of the best of all time you have determination every run Barry and determination.... And he barely had a chance to choke on big games... I have never heard one football analyst that says Barry Sanders had a good line it just is not true. Like I do not understand how you can say Walter had a worse team when
Celphhog 5 months ago
@itsmybunny1 they barely made the playoffs only one good season in 1991
Celphhog 5 months ago
@Celphhog they made it more then that, and again barry didnt do great when the games really counted.
itsmybunny1 5 months ago
@itsmybunny1 I know they made it more then that but they barely made the playoffs and for a fact it takes a whole team to win games.... Not one player. So I am saying they had one productive season where they could go far but the rest the seasons they had was not fit to do well in the play offs.
Celphhog 5 months ago
@Celphhog yeah, and barry would choke in the play offs.

harddawg2486 9 months ago
@harddawg2486 stop watching football barry couldnt catch, block, and throw, or kick, or return kicks. What else you do you have to say now?
itsmybunny1 7 months ago
@itsmybunny1 Barry could catch and he was a good blocker contrary to popular beliefs. And he did better than Walter Payton in what matters most for runningbacks: Running. Sure, Walter Payton was better rounded and I would prefer to have him on my team (Mostly because the team I root for is pass happy), but Barry is the better runner.
Why does throwing matter? He's a runningback, not a quarterback.
shiron236 7 months ago
@shiron236 walter payton better all around player, better runner, way more reliable then barry sanders (negative 1114 yards). why is throwing matter? the bears didnt have to have a 3rd qb because of him are you dumb? even him being good at covering matters, then they can use him as a corner too?
itsmybunny1 7 months ago
@itsmybunny1 He had an absolutely AWFUL offensive line if you ever saw him play. And no, don't try to pull the "well, he had a pro bowl offensive lineman before." Yeah, he did, but four guys didn't come to play and only one did. I rather have five average o-linemen than one good and four bad o-linemen. It's a teamsport. And yeah, that's not a very intelligent thing to do. Have your best offensive player play cornerback and let him get hurt. We're talking about runningbacks, not quarterbacks.
shiron236 7 months ago
@shiron236 umm what? Walter Payton had a worse of an offensive line then barry sanders, then in the 1985-1987 season payton finally played with 1 pro bowl lineman. guess what? walter payton never played with a pro bowl qb,te,wr his whole career. barry sanders team was better then payton, without payton the bears would of never been 18-1, and im telling you walter payton could play every position with his eyes closed and do better then barry, payton was a better runner, and a way more versatile.

@itsmybunny1 Whos gives a fuck! thats why you hire a reciever to catch and lineman to fucking block. now shut up with your stupid comment because barry was a better runner than payton and i dnt care if he cant catch or block thats why its called a fucking RUNNING back so they run
greenddayjack97 7 months ago
@greenddayjack97 so then why does barry have NEGATIVE 1114 yards rushing, since runningbacks run? Not only he couldnt do half of half the things payton did, but he also could lose some hards dont you think? i dont except you to answer because i dont know what there is to argue for seeing payton was clearly better. dumbass
itsmybunny1 7 months ago
@itsmybunny1 Don't bring up the negative yards thing for Sanders... you are embarassing yourself... seeing that even with all those negative yards, he was still over a half yard better per attempt than Walter. Sanders averaged more yards from scrimmage per season than Payton (1,819 vs 1,635) and averaged more touchdowns per season than Payton (10.9 vs 9.6). They are both top 5 of all time, and to say one was "clearly better" is just ridiculous, seeing the offensive production stats favor Barry.
shock1974 6 months ago
@shock1974 payton is a better all time rb. Sanders couldnt get the ball on 3rd and 4th. Barry Gave up football, yea he says he got tired, but who said its true? People say payton did steriods who said its true? Mabye barry sanders couldnt take it no more, if you think about it name 1 nfl player besides barry that quit because "they lost love". Payton had more heart which alone is no argument to who is better.
itsmybunny1 6 months ago
@itsmybunny1 Payton and Barry had similar amounts of carries per season. Also, the Bears in 70s/80s ALWAYS had Suhey or another FB getting 100-150 carries per season. So Walter "gave up" the ball plenty of times as well. I'm not trying to take anything away from Walter, but Barry deserves his props and neither is clearly better. Also, Barry quit because he had met Earl Campbell and didn't want to end up being a crippled man with destroyed legs at the age of 45... like Campbell and many others.
shock1974 6 months ago
@shock1974 idk barry sanders never was a contact player so i don't know how he could have destroyed legs lol. You cant talk for him why he quit, he said he lost the love of this game he didn't say he wanted his legs to be destroyed. Its hard to believe he lost the love, because again name me one player who quit because he lost the love of the game.
itsmybunny1 6 months ago

However, Deion couldn't tackle fly-weights let alone "Bo".

axis424 10 months ago
Even though Emmit Smith holds the record, he's not even in the top 5 all time. Barry Sanders was the most elusive running back in NFL history; Bo Jackson could have been it's greatest of all time with his raw combination of speed and power; Walter Payton is way better than Smith and so is Jim Brown. This video sucks if for no other reason than Jim Brown wasn't in it. 1) Sanders 2) Brown 3) Payton 4) Sayers or Bo Jackson 5/6) Dickerson. At best, Smith is 7th. Stats don't mean greatness.
TheGodofSteel 10 months ago
@TheGodofSteel I agree pretty much to a T with your order of great RBs, and that stats don't mean greatness, not all by themselves. I remember in 93' when the Cowboys started the season 0-2 while Emmitt held out. He signed, then Dallas won 7 straight on their way to a 12-4 record and back to back titles. He has 3 Super Bowl rings. But it’s so debatable that it’s like how can you bump down Payton or Brown, or even Sayers? But it’s interesting to think of the greats and how people rank them.
TRChamp08 10 months ago
The greatest RB of all-time is debatable. After Emmitt Smith broke the all-time rushing record, he even conceded that Barry Sanders is the greatest and that he'd hold the record if he didn't retire after just 10 years. Jim Brown played so long ago now, that more recent greats seem to make him overlooked. But he is still a consideration. Walter Payton certainly is another. These 4 guys should get most votes with honorable mention to: Eric Dickerson, Marshall Faulk, and Tony Dorsett

Well, they couldn't, and he would get his 100 yards, game in and game out. He was the greatest of all time! The moves, that power, that stiff arm, the great blocking, and catching.

Jerrico71 1 year ago
@Jerrico71 Payton had several pro-bowlers blocking for him from '84 on. Sanders had 1 pro-bowler, for 2 years. I respect Sweetness very much, but Sanders > Payton.
Starchaser10 1 year ago
@Starchaser10 WP only had 2 pro-bowlers for '85 & '86 & 1 his last year of '87. BS had a pro-bowler on the line for 8 years of his career. '95 he had 2 pro-bowlers. Not to deduct from BS's elusive highlight shown talent but when you tally the runs & watch & compare all archived research footage you'll see that in reality most of BS's runs were through holes made for him i.e. no contact, allowing for bigger gains with fewer runs. The bulk of WP's were 3yds after getting caught @ -2. JB approved.

He had all of the greatest running backs top qualities rolled into one.better competition than browns era, hard hitting like cambell and payton, fast as darrel green.Didn't run run back and forth like sanders and gain 3 yards. He gained 90 plus and a t.d instead.:)
